Chillin' in the MMP

I mean, the snakes ain’t kickin’ per se, but we’re all still here.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and mostly cloudy for the day. There may or may not be some rain. TWPTB are willy-nilly once again. Today is laundry day and votin’ day in Jawja. Those are the tasks of the day. Other than that there will be the usual sloth, nappage, day drinkin’, and overall uselessness. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy

I had already thought about goin’ with Cocoa just because that’s what popped into my haid.

shoe glad you and the menagerie are doin; OK. Hi to Monkey!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Morning. Looks to be a decent day in Mipples, so we’re thinking a walk to explore our new neighborhood may be in order. Getting a little stir crazy at this point. Seems all we do is eat and sleep. We got most of the stuff we carted across country stowed in the new apartment, and our HHG is estimated to arrive at the end of the month.

The cat is not settling in particularly well, but at least has stopped pacing and mewing constantly. We’ll probably have to go through the whole process again when we move to the permanent digs. Any movement in the hallway near our door sorta freaks her out; I think it reminds her of the vet’s office or something.

Greetings from not-so-sunny Newark. 50ishF.

I was supposed to be working home today via the Turks & Caicos, but had a relapse of my nasty just-won’t-completely-go-away cold (not COVID), and am in no shape to work. So now riding straight home to Miami instead while somebody else fills my seat up front.

It’ll be good to get there and let the sun and 85ish slightly damp heat cook the virus out of my head. Dayquil knocked off about half the symptoms but I still feel like crap. Not sleeping much last night didn’t help either.

Otherwise, it’s a treat to be here and hear about all the mundanities again. Life is good.

Cheers!

Paintcharge, of course you need a new pup! I can highly recommend it. My little Lola is so smart and funny. I have never had a dog who REALLY watches TV. I have uploaded to Imgur a video of her watching Planet Earth, when a leopard is hunting, and growling low. You can’t hear Lola well, but she is riveted and growling, too! (Ignore the laundry on the couch!)
Ignore the laundry! Lola watching Planet Earth.

She is so smart, and has learned many behaviors, like sit, stay, bring the ball (to my feet!) and she’s learning “dance.” Learning to walk on a leash correctly, too.

My small heart has grown three sizes! (Grinch reference.)

Drive-by skim of everyone’s posts - Happy Tooooosday!

Spousal unit and I are both dealing with this. Mine has just about faded away, but he’s in the thick of it. Last night, he did a COVID home test and came up clean, so it’s just some seasonal crud. Probably brought by one of the grands…

Still raining. Roxy is at school. Tobias is playing on the floor and “watching” Baby Einstein. I’ve got a pot of bean soup started - it’s in the “cover and let sit for 1 hour” phase. FCD is at the dentist. Our credit union still hasn’t gotten online banking up and running, so I have no idea of the state of my finances.

Just another day in Paradise!

Happy Toosday!

A chilly 56 degrees and rainy morning at the park. No Barky, so a peaceful morning as well. The dogs were a bit lazy, poor Nelson (our Nelson, the Shar Pei mix) was there and nobody would play with him.

I survived the armpit yesterday. I almost didn’t go. When I called my mother to tell her we were on the way, she sounded so bad. She said she was tired and all she wanted to do was sleep. I thought maybe we should reschedule.
She was up and feeling better by the time we got there.
So, a nice, if a bit chaotic visit. Her house is always chaotic.
No chemo for her this week, so maybe she’ll get to feeling better.

I did something yesterday I never do, I let Niece2 drive my truck. Nobody is allowed to drive my truck.
I still haven’t got the seat back to where it belongs.
I thought Niece1 was doing better, but she is back to… i don’t even know what to call it. She had two prescriptions collide in a bad way. We thought she was better, and now she isn’t, she has been hiding it from us.
There isn’t anything I can do about it.

Of course, you need a new puppy VanGo
I have two and now I want a new puppy. Off course I don’t have the space, or the finances to get a third puppy, but I still want one.

I think I’m going to have to close the windows, it’s getting chilly in here.
Then the house is going to feel stuffy because it’s wet outside.
Hard to believe just two days ago it was in the 90s, now in the 50s.

Morning all. Finally got to sleep in some (7:45am) and temperatures are only supposed to get to the mid-70’s today (60% chance of rain tonight and 80% chance tomorrow), so AC may be able to take some time off. Not much on the agenda for today, will try to get to the gym this afternoon and get back on some kind of schedule. It’s voting day but none of the candidates interest me, might be a couple worth voting against, so we’ll see.

Sari, sounds like family visits are always…fascinating…take care.

Rebo, love the intensity of Lola; dogs can really focus on something at times…

Lindbergh (I think LSLGuy is one), hope you get to feeling better and don’t be a stranger.

Cookie, hope everyone including cat gets settled soon.

VanGo, would go along with the others, a mature dog is better for being in the shop than a puppie who might stroll off and get into trouble.

Jane the Cane, are the dogs being fed, watered and have shade in that heat? Wouldn’t be surprised if Animal Control picked them up.

Cupcakes, that is a wonderful story on the organ and the use of the money.

Hugs, tears, smiles and general silliness to all. Now need to forage for sustenance. Take care.

I’m baaaaack. Not that I don’t post nearly every weekday, so it’s probably not noticeable when I’m gone. BUT, I was at jury duty yesterday, and the selection wound up taking from 8 a.m. until after 6. I learned several things about myself:

  1. I know more people than I realize.

  2. Working from home is a huge luxury. Like, huge - I can get up, move around, drink water, fit in a quick run and still call it a work day. It honestly feels like I’m leaving town to make the 25 minute drive to the courthouse. The pandemic has totally spoiled me.

  3. When I sit for too long, everything hurts.

Those are my deep thoughts and revelations for the day. Now, off to my standard minor annoyances that aren’t actually annoyances.

Naptime has exceeded an hour by a fair bit. Yay!

Almost time to add the veggies to the bean soup, then we can have some for lunch. FCD is done at the dentist $$$ and I’m waiting for a callback about my car.

And it’s still raining. And in the 50s. Ick.

You could send the rain here. Today’s supposed to be the first of two double-digit days, with plenty of wind, so we’ve got a red flag fire weather warning on top of the heat advisory.

Some moron thought pulling the fire alarm about 15 minutes ago was a great idea, and we’re still waiting for the fire department to come deal with it. Of course no one on site has the necessary key (per nice maintenance gent I talked to. They’re very informative toward the nicer tenants, I’ve noticed, and I try very hard to cause them as little aggravation as I can achieve).

Ye gods, I’m klopening (closing tonight, opening tomorrow) I might just sleep under the manager desk.

My dad’s schedule with the FAA rotated backwards. So once a week he’d work 0530-1330 and then have to work midnight to 0800.

My sister has an interesting schedule. She’s a pharmacist at a local hospital. She works seven days in a row, at night, from 9:00 PM to 7:30AM. Then she has a week free. Adjusting her sleep can be problematic, but she’s retiring at the end of the year and is putting up with it.

When I was a new baby ensign in the Pentagon, I was on a stupid rotating 12-hour shift, so I could never get my sleep in sync. Thankfully it only lasted 6 months before I got transferred to a real job.

Babby is awake, changed, and fed. Bean soup is yummy! Two more hours, and I can return the kid to his mother.

Not as extreme, but for about a year I worked a 3pm - 11pm shift. At first I thought it was great because I never liked getting up early. But I could never go right to sleep after getting home, so I’d watch bad TV into the wee hours and then sleep until about noon.
So I didn’t really have any kind of life before or after work.

I found the meat store of my dreams about two blocks from here. Honest to Og butchers who make their own sausage, grind their own burger, and carry things like pork hocks and pancetta. Plus they serve sandwiches like pastrami on rye. Ima be their best customer.

I’m irking in the orifice today, so I’m listening to my iPod. Big Kahuna and the Copa Cat Pack just played an instrumental version of Pearly Shells. I can’t hear Pearly Shells without thinking of this commercial from the '70s.

I’m torn between “Someone’s got to do it” and “He made his choice” :woman_shrugging:t3:

In the heat? Bastards. I wonder if the landlord could do anything, not that I want the dogs to end up in a kill shelter.

Nettie I vote for keeping Buddy in. If he doesn’t seem to mind, he’ll be better off for it. I hope his head wound gets better.

Shoe Hi! Hi Monkey!

Cookie I’m glad you’re getting settled in, for a relative value of settled in. I don’t blame your cat. I don’t like moving either!

LSLGuy Welcome back! Feel better soon.

Rebo I see NO laundry, only a very cute little doggo! I have little doggo envy.

Talky Are you done with jury duty or do you have to go back?

I will trade you. It’s hot and dry here.

Google Pay has eaten my money, and I hates them. It’ll work out, but I am not happy right now.

I think my computer is about to die. I need to make sure I’ve got the data all synched, and then I don’t know what. My phone’s a little too small for daily use.

I think my son has COVID again.

You know, today is just a day for looking for Opus’s dandelion patch and hiding from life. Or screaming into my pillow, which is the more likely of the two.

Take care out there everyone. Happy Tuesday.

So far, I’m not all that optimistic that he’ll accept indoor life, but we’ll be trying to work on that. One problem is that that cat can howl at least as loud as Allie (and she’s the one who looks Siamese). I did manage to get some Neosporin onto the head wound, which he didn’t seem to object to. He did apparently dislike the Sentry flea stuff, which Allie agrees with him about.
