Flyboy, that commercial stuck in my brain as well, but I had no idea it was an adaptation of an existing song.
To this day, whenever I fill the sugar bowl I hum to myself “C&H, pure cane sugar, that’s the one!”

I am DONE, thank goodness! I was so happy to leave.
I hope your son doesn’t have COVID, or if he does, that he’s feeling better soon. I agree that today would’ve been a good hiding or scream-into-your-pillow kinda day. I do hope yours gets better.
Here’s a version by Connie Francis. Would’ve liked Don Ho, but I could only find the live version.
Pearly Shells - Connie Francis || with lyrics (영어가사/한글번역) - YouTube
I think it’s funny, but I’m a very bad wife.
The landlord is out of state and I got tired of listening to them around 11 so texted the neighbor’s brother (who treats his dogs just as badly) and told him that I was calling Animal Control and because I didn’t have contact info for his brother that I would give his name and job contact info to Animal Control instead. The dogs owners came and got them while shouting about how f*ing happy they would be when they were out of this goddamned place and nosy people.
I’m so sorry. i hope he recovers quickly and easily.
GG is the only cat we’ve ever had who didn’t come in from the streets. It can be a struggle at first, but they get used to it after a while. It helps that we have always had a catio, can you possibly enclose your patio or a portion of it?
It’s warming up nicely today. It’s 96F at a quarter to two. Some of the emitters on the mist system were clogged up and I optimistically took the step stool outside to try to change them out. Not a chance, the only way I would have been able to reach them would have been to climb up on the cafe table. Tall people make that sort of thing look so easy. Hubs changed them out for me, agreed that it was nice sitting out there and went back inside to swelter in front of his comp again.
The neurologist says my back is all healed–except for the arthritis, of course–and that I don’t have to go back. He recommends yoga stretches to deal with the arthritis. I’m thrilled my back feels so much better but will consider the yoga stuff. I’ve done it before; it’s just that some of the poses are hard on my arthritic hands/wrists, so I’d have to skip those.
It’s cloudy and about 60º out, but it’s so humid, you have to wring out the air before you inhale. It’s not going to rain, though. Go figure.
jane the cane, good on you for getting the a$$hole neighbors to get their dogs in. I wish there were some way to keep people like that from having pets. So from their shouted comments, the neighbors plan to move? I hope so. But then, who’ll make them take their dogs in out of the heat?
sunny, hope your son gets over the Covid soonest.
VanGo, I agree, you need a pupper. Maybe not a young one, but a dog nonetheless.
doggio, your poke loin sounds delicious.
Those poor dogs jane the cane. I’m glad they’re no longer in that back yard.
:waves hi to shoe and Monkey:
sari, your dog park Nelson is the third one besides mine that I’ve heard of. One was named for a town in Nova Scotia where he adopted his human, one was named for a GB Packer and my guy is named for Willie. Wonder who yours is named for. I’m with you on others driving my vehicle. When I had my little Toyota, there was only one guy doing oil changes at the dealership who could drive a stick (he was a middle aged guy and the rest were kids). He was shorter than I am and I always had to do a seat adjustment when I got it back.
rebo, Lola is kee-yute!
cookie, a good butcher is a wonderous thing. I found several in the Fiesta market a couple of miles from me. I asked for some ground pork last weekend, and they pulled the chunks of pork for carnitas out of the case and ground them right there. They’ll prep anything from fish to beef, including lamb and goat.
Since VanGo asked for it, I’ll toss a pic of Nelson and his lovey, Rocky Raccoon. Not a brand new one, but one of my favorites.
I have a feeling that I’ll be looking for irk by the end of summer. In a way, it could be a relief. Perhaps I’ll get something with somewhat normal hours, or maybe find a gig as a night auditor at a hotel. Who knows?
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Yeah, some people don’t deserve dogs. Next time it happens I would just call Animal Control straight away.
Second booster done. So far so good. Pharmacist said there are usually no side effects with the 4th one.
Horrible shooting in Texas. So sorry at the state of this nation.
Seconded.
Theoretically, I could get my car back tomorrow. I’m not counting on it, based on the way the car was acting when we dropped it off. But who knows - maybe it was just a wiring harness, and with it replaced/repaired/whatever, it’ll be OK. We shall see.
I can’t believe kids are still being shot up in schools. What the hell is wrong with people, especially the politicians who refuse to address this?!?
Sick.
My right to shoot my gun is more important than your kid’s right to come home from school alive, dontcha know.
Howdy Y’all! We voted and then went to Wally Jr.
. Then it was back to da cave for sloth, nappage, etc. It rained for a while and I cleaned the Keurig. Sup also got et up. So has it been today.
Rebo I really couldn’t hear Lola. Maybe I was too distracted by all the laundry on the couch.
Guy I want to think we have a nickname for you, but I am old and senile, so I forget, hope you feel better soonest.
CupCakes great news about the organ! I’m glad it’s goin’ to folks who will appreciate and use it.
Cookie yay for the new source of meat! Hope kitty adjusts soonest, poor thing.
Sunny here’s hopin’ Beamer does not have the plague.
Red is it just me or does Nelson just keep gettin’ keeeyoooooooter everytime you share a pic of him.
It’s so depressing that I hate to turn on the news. I feel so down about things like this, and then I know I should feel guilty because I wasn’t one of the victims, Nor did I know them. So how do I dare feel bad, compared the relatives and parents? I was supposed to go out tonight, I think I’ll just stay in and brood. But I don’t have any beer.
I think if you can go out, you should. I think being out is better than brooding.
swampy, he is a cute little stinker.
Evening all. Slothed the day away, did go out a bit ago to mail letters, pick up some larger envelopes and voted, and that was about it for the day. Mac-n-Cheese have been consumed and Comet added to the sinks. Rain started about 30 minutes after I got home and it’s still sprinkling outside now. Hopefully it’ll knock the humidity down some.
red, nice picture of Nelson there. Being a one-time history teacher, I though he was named for Horatio Nelson, the British Admiral.
nellie, good news about your back; hope the Yoga helps.
Jane the Cane, well done on the doggies, although given their history I don’t know that being in those people’s possession will be much better. But it took a little nerve and commitment that a lot of folks don;t have, so here’s to you!
{{Sunny}}, just cause it sounds like you could use one about now.
Cookie, enjoy your meat (wait, that sounds wrong…). have fun visiting the meat…dammit, just enjoy.
talkie, for some reason I have never been called to jury duty in all of my 70 years (admittedly the first 21 don’t count…).
OK, need to do some kitchen cleaning and stuff and get ready for tomorrow, when I really, really will go to the gym, promise…
All y’all take care.
Tomorrow, all of the managers on my program are getting together in person for an all-day session: some strategy talk, some “what can we we doing better” talk, and some just plain getting to know each other (several of us haven’t actually met yet). We’re meeting at our new corporate headquarters building, which I haven’t been to before. The session starts at 10:00, but I’m planning to get there at around 8:30 so I can find the conference room and fire up my laptop in time for an unrelated 9:00 meeting that I don’t want to skip. There will be a dinner afterwards, so I’m likely to be out of the house for 12-13 hours — which means it’s better for Bailey to go to doggy daycare tomorrow, and spend the night there. In the morning I’ll be getting up earlier than usual, dressing like a grownup for the first time in two years, and putting a cooler bag together with everything I’ll need for the day (protein shakes, meds/supplements, lunch, etc.). It’ll be much easier if I don’t also have to drive to the daycare, so I decided to drop Bailey off this afternoon; she’s spending both tonight and tomorrow night there.
All of that is just background for this statement: I miss my dog! Daycare/boarding is the best thing for her — for both of us — but the house always feels empty and weird when she’s not here.
I’m actually looking forward to tomorrow: the change of scenery will be appreciated, I’m really happy about the idea of spending a day in a room with other people, and I even think dinner will be nice. For the most part, I like my co-workers. But I’m also already looking forward to picking my girl up on Thursday morning.
Got home in one peice with no blood flowing out of ruptured eardrums. Yaay!
Other than that, butt and chair have been firmly attached except when I was napping or feeding. Now a bit past 9pm coastal time bed is beckoning again. On to Wednesday!
Got off at 1 today(Rain and leaky trailers mean lots of reboxing, fallout, overgoods, and hazmat. Got to solidify liquds today.)
Hockey game suck.

I have it on my Don Ho Greatest Hits LP.
Yes he is.
Why am I still awake at 1AM?
DAMMIT.
