Swampy’s Taco Soup is simmering in the crock pot and boy does it smell good! I did include the ranch dressing, and I’m going to serve it with sour cream, green onions, and grated mexican cheese, along with tortilla chips. Can’t wait!!!
Good to have you back, BooFae; sorry about the scales at fat club, though. Glad you’re enjoying your kindle! I think I’m going to try to make Muppet’s sweet potato biscuits tomorrow - it’s so cold here, that I’m doing quite a bit of experimental cooking this weekend. LOL
Hope everyone stays warm and enjoys the remainder of their weekend.
OMG, just finished a bowl of the Taco Soup, and it is -soooooo- good!!! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe for this, Swampy!! YUM, I’m going to get another bowl.
Back from our very very belated anniversary dinner (Dec 9) and I am soooooooo stuffded! Mostly because we started with sushi, which was a first for me. I tried 'em all, and the spicy crab roll, which **FCD **told me wasn’t spicy, really was, but in the aftertaste. But the rest was good. My entree was the calimari, shrimp, and scallops and my appetizer was mushrooms. I left half of my rice and maybe a third of my veggies, but my daughter mixed them in with hers, and she’s taking it for lunch on Monday, so no waste. Not a cheap evening, but still yummy!
I will shortly assume the knit position and chill the night away. Hope I can sleep thru the night, but I’m not counting on it. Tomorrow is laundry and taxes. With our credit for the new windows and siding, we may actually get some money back this year. That would be a nice change.
Glad you like the soup Herbs. 'Tis a nummy one! Plus easy to make ain’t it!
MOOOOOOM I like sushi. The only thing I’ve ever had I didn’t like was sea urchin. It was a taste/texture thing. It felt really weird in my mouth. I don’t get sushi often cause OYKW thinks it’s ick. So, I have to wait until I can go with somebody else like JDD and Partner who love to snarf down some sushi.
In other news, I pretty much have tomorrow’s lunch ready. The beans are done and will just need nukin’ to heat up. Coleslaw is made. The <snerk> butt <snerk> will go in the slow cooker in the mornin’ to slowly heat up. It shall be shredded per OYKW’s decision. Actually, it is already shredded cause I did that when it was all thawed. I’ll throw it in the slow cooker with some bbq sauce to do it’s thang while we deheathenate. Oh and ‘nanner puddin’ is made. Nummy lunch it shall be!
I’m giving up on this stupid airbed. It keeps losing air through the patches and it’s just plain uncomfortable. I just checked and saw that Sears has one in the store for about $65, so I’m going to get that. It’ll be Culinary Boy’s early birthday present.
That’s why I’m up at what the hell o’clock on a Sunday morning. I’m going to eat the second slice of my birthday Hershey’s pie because I’m unreasonably hungry right now.
Spaz eat the birthday pie. It’s celebratory pie and thus has no calories. I heard that somewhere or maybe I just made it up. Anyway, it’s a rule.
Not much doin’ at da cave. Just heat up the <snerk> butt <snerk> and baked beans for lunch is it. Well, I do have to mix up a batch of Bloody Mary mix, which, as we all know, is the most important task of all.
Ok, off to seek more caffiene, feed rumbly tummy, make Bloody Mary mix and purtify for deheathenization. Then it’s feed the masses (well, six) for lunch.
Anxiety time. I just woke up from a dream where I was doing my first day on the new job tomorrow, sans pants. At least I could tell myself “This is a dream, I would not have left my luggage at home…”
Mmmmm… I need to make that taco soup for my nephew. I bet he’ll like it.
Aren’t dreams like that disconcerting, Bobbio? Haven’t had an “it’s only a dream” dream in quite a while.
Happy belated birthday, Spaz, and happy birthday wiki!
And yay for your cousin, Spaz!
Funny LOL, rosie.
We watched Season 1 of Psych yesterday. Well, my nephew and brother did, anyway. I think we need to have a total non-watching day today. I got started on some “hobo gloves” (gloves without fingertips) for my nephew, too.
Swampy, that taco soup was so good that we ate most of it up! I have a bit to take in for lunch tomorrow, but that’s it. I added some strips of corn tortilla to it, the last hour of cooking. The soup was -very- substantial, but most of what I have to take in is broth. LOL We et all the taco parts, or most of them!! Taco soup is definitely on the rotation now. I hope you don’t mind if I pass the soup on to my cousin. It was delicious.
I am up and caffeination is in progress. I have also had a bit of brekkie too, so my stomach is not grumbling.
BBBBBobbio, are you going to be commuting between your current house and St. Mary’s County MD for work … for how long?! I so hope that you’re able to find some place in MD asap. I’ve forgotten what it is that you call where you live currently! Caffeination hasn’t kicked in all the way yet.
It is COLD! here, teeth chattering, toe curling cold too. Seriously. I do not look forward to going outside tomorrow at all. I hope that everyone has brought their critters inside, it’s too cold for them to be outdoors.
Since I haven’t mentioned this any other time, within the last calendar week, we’re down 2 dogs and 1 cat. Officially 1 cat to go, but I’m willing to have a ‘take 1, get 2 free’ sale.
I’ve been up luxuriating in the silence and sipping my coffee. I so love this part of my weekends.
We managed to get some chores done and stupidly cajoled my husband into going grocery shopping with me. God, that was a mistake. He is, however, happy because he got to pick out some of the food. Our bank account took a larger hit than normal, but in the end, it’s not wasted money, because it’s food that will be eaten.
Good luck on the first day of your new gig, **Bobbio. ** I’m sure all will be fine; pants or no pants!
It’s obvious that you’re more loved than I am… * <sob sob sniffle pity party>*
Breakfast out, followed by a run to FCD’s office so he can do some pre-trip work stuff while watching football today. I’ve got the second load in the washer with 2 or 3 to go. Yummerrific lasagna is on the menu for later today, and my spousal unit and daughter had to run into Leonardtown for something, and I asked them to stop for a dessert-like substance at McKay’s. My day will be mellow.
I’ve got 8 Cat Stevens CDs on the way, and they pretty much ate up the checks I got from my mom and MIL. I’m finally replacing the albums I had on Cassette. So yay!!
Oh, and I have some picsof Charley. How many strays can say they have hand made and custom decorated kibble and water dishes?? I’ll try later to get a pic of his face - he’s got a little white mustache - too thin to be a negative Hitler 'stache but still cute. And I’m pretty sure he’s not feral because he’ll come to us to be petted and even let us pick him up.
I’ve decided if he’s still hanging with us come spring, he’s going to the vets for a checkup and shots. Since idiot Taz managed to escape into the yard today, aided by idiot Cozmo chasing him, there’s a chance Taz and Charley will meet, and I don’t intend to risk Taz’ health. I don’t intend to turn him into an indoor cat, tho. I don’t have a good space for a second litter box, and one box isn’t enough for 3 cats. Plus there’s the whole territorial/spraying thing to consider. He’ll remain an outdoor critter.
