Last week, Shaw kidnapped Sarah for the Ring and Sarah didn’t even know it. Or maybe Sarah really is a Ring operative. Regardless, it looks like Chuck is going to have to go and rescue Sarah.
Chuck questions Shaw’s emotional stability after they find the Ring operative behind the death of Shaw’s wife; Morgan considers leaving the Buy More.
Lots of stuff happening in this episode–maybe too much. It felt a little rushed. Overall, things turned out like many predicted they would–Chuck kills Shaw to save Sarah, Casey earns his job back, Chuck and Sarah are together. It’ll be nice to have the Sarah/Chuck relationship angst resolved (at least for a while, I assume) so they can focus on other things and maybe have some episodes that are lighter and more fun. Not sure I like the idea of Morgan being part of Team Bartowski, though.
Preview for the back six episodes looks good, especially the return of
Chuck’s dad, and Anna!
Reruns for the next two weeks. Let’s hope the ratings were solid tonight!
Yeah, the pacing of the season seems a bit off, probably due to NBC ordering additional episode. Still, that’s more Chuck for us. For a moment there, I thought Casey would come in to save Chuck’s bacon once again. But Shaw needed shootin’, and Chuck shot him up real good.
The best bit was Chuck catching the General in bed. Clap on, clap off!
Yeah, the General had some good scenes, including her reaction when she saw Morgan in Castle with Chuck. and her phone call to Morgan later to officially welcome him to Team Bartowski.
My other favorite parts:
Morgan channeling Yoda, “There is… another.”
Casey’s demands to the General - “…and a new Crown Victoria.”
The whole elevator scene.
The ‘failed’ rescue at the beginning: “Cancel the tank.”
Sarah admitting that she loves Chuck.
Oh, another thing I noticed in the short preview of the upcoming episodes:
Looks like Ellie and Captain Awesome make it to Africa for their "Doctors Without Borders
There was a sense of finality to last night’s episode – all the largest plot threads were tidied up, Casey got back on the job, Chuck and Sarah finally got together. Was this episode written and filmed designed to be a series ender, in the event that it wasn’t picked up?
Yes, originally NBC only ordered 13 episodes this season, and this was supposed to be the season-ender. Then NBC ordered 6 more, and rather than pad it out and move this one after the extra 6, they decided to add more story to finish the season.
Why wouldn’t it have been the writers themselves? General Beckman is portrayed as a tough-as-nails neocon who drinks with Condoleeza Rice. It’d make sense for her to be an Ayn Rand fan.
I loved this episode! It looks like Chuck and Sarah have finally got it together as a couple; I wonder how long this will last? (Hopefully nothing too dramatic will come along to wrench them apart, but with this show, you never can tell…)
The previews for upcoming episodes looked promising – I can’t wait to see Casey and Morgan interacting in "spy training’ sessions!
Every one of the last 3-4 episodes (back to the one with Casey getting fired) have seemed like season enders. Only they aren’t. It’s a crazy ride, but I’m loving it. If NBC doesn’t pick this show up for another year, I may have to flash on them.
I bought myself a brand new pair of Converse and ate at Subway right after. I tried to get my husband to buy a Crosstour when he was looking for a new car, but the Camry won him over instead. (Okay, just kidding on the Crosstour, but we did look at them.)
As much as i wanted more Chuck this was a perfect series final, i doubt whatever they do in the next six episodes (which will probably be the last ever) will be an improvement over this as an ending.
