Cinemax's Strike Back

Having a long weekend and no desire to cut grass I stumbled upon Strike Back on Cinemax On Demand. It’s not art, but I find it kind of compelling in the way MI-5 (on BBC) is, but with gratuitous nudity of both the male and female variety. More female, but I am OK with that.

I was liking the fact that it is not about wrapping up a the story in an hour, it’s a lot like the old Saturday serial’s in that way. You want to see next weeks episode to see how the heroes escape death.

For an actual Irish woman, Eva Birthistle, playing Capt. Kate Marshall has a very inconsistent accent to my ear. It seems to be all over the place from English, to Irish to sometimes even Scottish. Odd.

Amanda Mealing, as Colonel Grant, and her freckly nose makes my heart go pitty- pat, though.

I already suspect Sgt. Stonebridge is the mole. He does a lot of killing of those that would be better questioned. That may be a ruse, however.

Am I the only one watching it? A search just failed, so there may be another thread, but I could not find it.

Been watching it. Saw it On Demand one night, and clicked on it. Defiantly an element of deus ex machina, but overall I’m a fan.

Agreed. I’d rather watch this than Sons of Guns.

Just caught episode four. I was afraid they’d not be as brave in killing principals as MI-5. I was wrong.

Bye, Kate

Just found this thread. I’ve been watching the show and next week’s episode is the season finale. Really, is has quite a bit of silliness, but I’ve been genuinely enjoying it. I saw an NYT story talking about its “efficient” mix of nudity and violence. It is very much a comic book adventure.

I also found out it’s based on BBC series of just a couple of years back that got very good reviews, so maybe we’ll see that one on BBC America sometime soon.

You can watch a couple of episodes online.
