I’ve had to not drink coffee these past few weeks, and unfortunately, this’ll have to continue for the next few days (long story.) But I do intend to go back to drinking coffee fairly soon.
Happy Toosday!
It’s a sunny 64 degrees outside, going up to 77. Spring is here, finally.
I was up half the night with Sah-dog. He’s old, he’s sick, I know he’s not going to be around too much longer. I’m waiting for him to wake up this morning, and then I’ll decide if we need to take him to the vet.
I haven’t received my iPad yet, so I have to call about that today. I haven’t heard anything about the appraisal or from the mortgage company. I’ll have to send off an email about that.
I need to send the proof of employment but they still haven’t told me what I can use.
The cat finally started eating, not eating much but at least he is eating something.
The dog just woke up, he is better than he was last night. We’ll wait and see how it goes with him today.
{{{Rosie}}} Disability sucks, in oh so many ways.
{{{Sari}}} Sorry to hear about Sah-dog. I hope he stabilizes.
Got the taxes done. Woo-hoo (sarcasm intended).
Off to shove the oldest kid out the door to school.
Can I go home, get back into bed only to get out & start again? That bad.
Yes. Yes, you can. I’ll even write you a note.
Spidey, woke up at 0300 today and couldn’t get back to sleep. I need the same hall pass you’re getting from sunny.
Before I retire I need 24 signatures on my Clearance form. That’ll be what I’m doing my last week on the job.
BLURF.
Busy busy busy busy busy!!! I’ve completed revising 4 drawings - by revising, I mean adding 2 pages to each drawing - and I’ve begun another from scratch. Gotta take a break, so yay for lunch!!!
I’m ingesting the last of the veggie beef soup - glad to finally be done with that, since no one else in the household helped me finish it up. On the other hand, it has provided several lunches, so there’s that. Tomorrow, I’ll have the leftover sketties, then I’ll have to make sammiches again. Oh, it’s so hard to be me!! <pose of woe and despair>
I want a flying car large enough to have a refresher in the back, and a bar.

BLURFOverslept this morning but I am here at irk. Where else would I be?
Gonna be a lazy day as I don’t have much to irk on at the moment. I think I will go to the Pubic Store and see if I can procure some lunch materials.
I made ground beef and rice for the dog, and he isn’t interested. I squirted a little of the juice in his mouth, he seemed to like it but not enough to eat anything. Now he’s sleeping again, probably the best thing for him.
I made up some taco meat for the son while I was at it. I found my missing cream cheese. I have to dry the dog’s bed. Debating hanging it over the railing or putting it in the dryer. I think the dryer, then I can start the dishwasher and finish cleaning the rug.
You left out self-driving.
I forgot to bring my lunch: it was cooked, but didn’t jump from the fridge to the lunch bag by itself. But hey, all that means is that I had to take the whole lunch hour and still had five minutes left. Living close to work is nice.

I have no idea how the system works over there, but if it’s like ours then they throw money hand over fist to the people who least deserve it and ignore the genuinely needy. I hope you get some kind of resolution soon.

That’s pretty much how it is here as well. It takes something dramatic to get a quick and fully favorable determination, and even then it’s iffy. Our former neighbor lost two toes, which interfered with his job as a delivery driver. Hard to carry boxes while walking with a cane, I suppose. Think it took three months for his claim to go through.
DH’s claim has been grinding through for over a year, despite having conditions that are supposed to be automatic qualifiers.
But, as DH has witnessed back when he was a bank teller, if you know how to play the system, you can show up in the US from Mexico and have a pile of public aid checks waiting for you. Bonus points, err, benefits, for knowing exactly how often you need to pop out another anchor baby to keep the funds rolling in.
24 signatures? Are you retiring or getting your high school yearbook signed?
I once had to go 2 months without coffee.
Reminds me of this
How did you survive? Were you sedated? Plied with liquor?
Liquor? I just met her!
Survived the meeting today. The guidance counselor was very happy when I declined to shake hands, citing my bad case of the crud. Of course, I then goofed: a special needs student in the hall turned to me and greeted me like her long-lost friend, and stuck out her hand. I took it from sheer reflex. I really hope I’m not contagious!
[Humble brag alert]
The meeting went well. Our state has combined a couple of previous joint enrollment programs into a single thing called Move on when Ready. It now allows high school students of any age to enroll in certain college classes, for dual high school and college credit, at little to no direct cost to the parents (class fees and transportation only. Tuition and books and school fees are covered by MOWR.) Girl 2.0 very enthusiastically wants to take one or two classes this summer - probably English 1101 and public speaking/Comm 1101. The counselor was pretty sceptical at first - after all, she’s only a freshman, and no other members of her class are attempting to enroll. But today, he pulled up her grades and classes (academically rigorous, advanced) and grades (all above 95%,) and spoke to us both about goals, and adjusted his attitude. It’s a new program for everyone, so we’ve all agreed to figure out the paperwork together, but the counselor seems to believe that it’s a great plan for this particular freshman. So, between enrollment this summer and possibly the next two, two AP classes next year, and probable joint enrollment for her junior and senior years, Girl 2.0 is on track to graduate from high school ad a college junior, without racking up any debt nor using up any of her eligibility for the current lottery funded state scholarship. Woot!
[/Humble brag]
MetalMouse I will give you a note too. I’m good like that.
Sari Have you tried scrambled eggs for Sah-dog? When one of my senior dogs was ill, scrambled eggs was the only thing he would eat. Don’t know why. We hadn’t made a habit of giving it to him. Guess it just smelled good.
I believe I may have mentioned off-his-meds dude next door. (I need a nickname for him.) His latest tricks include loud rock music (seventies or earlier, puh-leese), grinding sheet metal for his truck at all hours, and putting the camper top from his truck over the property line on my lawn. He also yells a lot, swears at everyone, and throws his cigarette butts all over.
Here’s the thing. I’ve got an autistic son. I know the mental health care system in this country sucks. I want to be sympathetic. But I also want to feel safe in my own home and I want my kids safe. I wish this guy would just take his meds. Guess he has more fun (somehow) when he’s paranoid and raving.
We got rid of our guns when we left the country. No livestock to protect from assorted wild things. Not so many dangerous wild things either. I can see why people keep guns in the city now.
Howdy Y’all! Day two of irk week survived! YAY! Dindin shall be the rest of Sunday’s leftovers. The veggies part will be gone with some turkey boob still left but that’s OK with me cause I likes turkey boob and will make sammiches and snack on it until it’s all gone.
Lacunae (have me nicknamed you yet? my feeble brain can’t recall) yay for your daughter!
doggio I lurve the gashlycrumb tinies!
