Coldest and Warmest Christmas Day on record

Just a fun but mundane fact, last year was the coldest Christmas day in Northern Ireland on record at -17.1C (1F) recorded at Castlederg.

While this year was the warmest on record, at a high of 14.3C (57.7F) recorded at Murlough, County Down.

After some searching I was unable to find better links than those, but the facts are buried in the story somewhere.

Yeah was pretty toasty today in Dublin.

I’m sensing end times.

Our Christmas Day was fairly average. The extreme maximum temperatures on 25 December over the years have been 39C in 1868 and 18C in 1962.

Christmas Day started out pretty normal here, and ended up with the worst wind storm we’ve had in years  Around here it just made a lot of noise and brought down a few trees (we’re fine), but we’re just finding out how much damage it did along the coast and especially further north. Reports from Trondheim are that Pirbadet (the city’s showplace public swimming hall) took some damage. NOOOO!!! I love that place!

It is now morning of the 26th, most of the snow disappeared in the storm, and it is well above freezing.
