Clearly, this thread was intended as a joke. Did I find it funny? No. Did Coldfire find it funny? No. Did pretty much anyone at all find it funny? Apparently not. Was it on the tasteless side? Quite possibly.
Now, cooldude probably could have saved himself a lot of abuse and aggravation if he’d posted a reference to the above in the his OP, or even in one of his subsequent replies. But good god, did NONE of you see this post from Coldfire? Were there that many of you that missed this other thread and automatically assumed cooldude was making a sincere slam and equating Coldfire with the Nazis?
He’s been rightfully flamed into the ground for some of his other screwups lately. I just don’t think this is one of em, at least not relative to the amount of crap he’s taken for it.
It was a fucking joke, people. Ease up on that dogpile.

I suggest that the OP go click to the Search option, type in the nickname Coldfire and read a fair sampling of his posts and actions as a mod.

Can I get a little information about this situation so I know what not to do? cooldude has obviously done something that has inflamed a bunch of people, including at least a couple of mods, but after reading this thread, I’m still at a loss as to what it was that he did.
Schief2 is right. Check out the thread. According to my clock, Coldy made that crack at himself only about 7 minutes before Cooldude started this thread.
My guess is, he sees the post, and decides to take a jab at him. Tasteless, yea…but if making a tasteless joke was an excuse to ban somebody, then we’d probably all risk being tossed out.
But I also have to agree with Schief2 that we wouldn’t have a mob up in arms here if Cooldude had at least tossed in a reference to the original thread.
Know what would be really wicked? If Cooldude and Coldfire would kiss and make up. Come on! Right now! Do it, ya big lugs!

I should add that cooldude’s joke was probably a bit ill-timed, as well, since it came at the tail end of Pit Meister’s rather spectacular crash and burn last night, wherein he started randomly opening up scads of one-sentence Pit threads bashing anyone who had ever disagreed with him. And which Coldfire had just spent a good deal of time cleaning up. (It seems most were quickly deleted; see Coldfire’s a JERK! for one of the surviving ones.) I’m sure yet another short, semi-pointless thread was not taken by him in the best of humors.
But still, I can’t possibly fathom how that excused the vicious free-for-all that took place here by a large group of posters, not one of whom has subsequently come in to explain their actions.
Started in GQ, where he called another Mod a “Nazi” (always that word… hmm…) for doing standard moderator actions.
People called him on this in a different Pit thread.
And now this crap… even as a joke, it’s tasteless. Hopefully the lumping he got here will knock some sense into him.
(I’d go dig up the links, but since the Boards are going so slow right now, I don’t want to spend 20 minutes digging through the Forums).
