Cinci was insisting they were overlooked all year. I wonder why that was bad. Now they are being exposed in a major bowl. Perhaps they will cry less next year.
Did any Dopers pick Cinci?
I did at first, just to be contrary, but then chickened out before the game.
And what’s with all the FL injuries? Are the Cincy players carrying switchblades or something?
Ouch. This is ugly. Fla is simply in a different league entirely.
Another easy pitch-and-catch for a Florida TD. Cincinnati is majorly, majorly outclassed.
Florida doesn’t even care how long the punts are. They know they can score at will.
Maybe the Cincinnati band will come out for the second half.
But they blocked a PAT!
And they did it very well.
After 10 days of ESPN, it’s startling to watch a game on Fox. And not in a good way. It’s all style over substance…flashy graphics, product placement, human interest stories and idiotic announcers.
Who is doing the color? Here’s what I have from him in just the 1st half:
After stating how the key to the game is holding Florida on 1st & 2nd down because they’re deadly on 3rd and short…Florida converts 3rd and 7. And he says “just like I was saying…deadly on 3rd and short…or medium…”
After Florida runs that play where Tebow takes 2 steps towards the line, before handing off to Moody: “that’s impossible to defend”. The next time they run it, Cinci drops Moody for a loss. “That’s the only way to defend that”
Late in the half when there’s nothing to talk about except Tebow…he tells an odd story about how the players protect Timmy from “compromising situations”. Like…? They hustle him into a cab away from the crime scene before the cops arrive?
This game is unwatchable for anybody but a Gator fan, btw. Which is why I’m on the computer.
I did too, but forgot the chickening out part. Between the Sugar and the Rose, I am totally hosed.
Well, if Pike were kicking this much ass, I’m pretty sure that’s all you’d hear about.
And they’re giving him all kinds of shit about his throwing style, and saying he’ll never make it in the NFL. So you can’t say the coverage is all a lionization of Tebow.
And this after he had over 300 yards passing in the first half.
Is there some way for the bowl sponsors to invoke the mercy rule?
Well, Cincy looks like they’re about to put SOME kind of score up.
Don’t get my wrong; it’s not the lionization of Tebow. It’s just the general idiocy of the announcers. Given the nature of the game, Tebow is all they have to talk about.
Some more: describing Florida’s coach as interim “for the foreseeable future”. Apparently they haven’t been reading the papers, or can’t foresee as far as next August.
And “that’s good running by Pead, even with his team down 30-7.” Did they expect him to take a knee?
I must admit, I do find the Gatorade product placements really fucking annoying.
Does Dennis Haysbert still have any eligibility left?
Just in baseball. “Hats for bats…keep bats warm. Gracias.”
btw, do you know how much tattoos cost? Seeing a player with $500 worth of ink on their arms makes me think they must’ve sold a lot of textbooks to get that much pocket money.
OK, jsc1953. I’m with you. They haven’t even talked about the last 4 or 5 plays. They just keep harping on the NFL QB thing.
SHUT THE FUCK UP!
