College football fans: how's your team look? -- 2011 Version

Hey wolfman, take comfort in the fact that there’s nothing enigmatic about Minnesota.

Yeah, I’m a Bama fan, but that disgusted me and I’m surprised they didn’t pan camera to Saban chewing his ass out. I’ve heard it was retribution for an earlier play where a different florida linebacker took a swing at a Bama player. Seriously, who throw a punch at someone in full contact pads? Buncha morans.

It can’t be said enough: “Death to Washington! (and the entire city of Seattle.)”

(Yeah, I am coming late to this party – wanna make something of it?)

I finally saw this thing, and I have to say one game is weak shit. I put that at least to the level of Blount’s punch, I cant believe the coach didn’t suspend him for the year,

Baylor has really been struggling to find a good coach for the last, oh… 25 years, all the way back to Grant Teaff. Art Briles finally has turned the tide and his quarterback, Robert Griffen III may be the best quarterback in the nation right now and currently is 4th in Heisman balloting. Going into Saturday’s match-up against K State he had 13 touchdown passes and 12 incompletions. Yes, you read that right, more touchdowns than freakin incompletions! He’s now got 18 TD chunks and 1 interception (caused by what I thought was roughing the passer but no matter) and has electrified the fan base.

The Bears probably won’t win either conference division but they certainly are a pleasure to watch and fully deserve their top 25 ranking.

There a HUGE difference between something that happens during a game and something that happens after a game.

I have to disagree in this case. If it was during the heat of battle that’s one thing. This Illinois guy threw a knee to the groin while play was stopped and the other dude wasn’t even really paying attention to him. That’s dirty, I don’t care if it’s during the game or not.

College football sucks. And I hate VPI. Apparently Miami has scored 5 go-ahead touchdowns in the 4th quarter of games this year (1 vs MD, 3 vs KSU, and 1 vs VPI), and the D hasn’t held one of them.

It’s a shame Jacory Harris is finally coming around to a solid qb and the efforts are getting wasted, let alone Lamar Miller’s performances.

Ga Tech 6-0. It couldn’t have been pretty today, but they beat Maryland.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrutgerrrrrsss!!! Nice win, a real beat down of a decent Pittsburgh squad. The defense was simply awesome - 4 int’s, which should solidify their standing as the #1 team nationally in takeaways, and 6 sacks. Good luck the rest of the way SFP - Graham is a truly special player.

I think Texas may have literally been killed today.

Well Michigan gets to 6-0. Always good to lock up a bowl year early, and take some pressure off of worrying about the ultimate failure. We saw crappy Denard, and good Denard, so I still don’t know how good they really are, but next week should let us have the first clue.

I am amazed at the Nebraska game though. I guess i had them way overrated, as did most people, they have looked like crap the last two weeks.

And as if I didn’t already hate That school to the south more than is actually possible, they decide to let Nebraska back into the game just to make me look like a jackass.

I’m not surprised. This was my analysis before they played the Huskies (and that game just solidified it based on their weak D - well I guess that applies to both the Huskers and the Huskies)

Nebraska: Overrated - probably a top 20 to 30 type team

Huskies: Probably a top 25 to 35 type team

Clemson: A good team - I know, this isn’t too specific but Clemson has never been on my radar and I watched a game earlier in the season and, if I remember correctly, it seems like the QB was good and overall the team looked really solid. I was surprised because I don’t remember being aware of them ever being good.

Roll Tide. Dying to see the Bama/LSU matchup.

Never said it wasn’t dirty. But the NCAA rightly takes a much more serious view of incidents that happen outside of the game. Blount’s punch, after the game and amidst fans and media, was much worse from a safety and PR standpoint. Comparing the two is like comparing a fight between a couple basketball players running up the court away from the play and the Artest melee.

I don’t think so- this year, Texas hasn’t been beaten by grossly inferior opponents, as they were several times last season.

Oklahoma is just a lot better than Texas this year, and everybody knew that.

IF Texas starts losing to mediocre teams, all bets are off. But for now, I still see them finishing with 3 losses and going to a decent bowl.

If there’s any upside to a loss like this, it’s that Texas will probably HAVE to pick one starting quarterback and stick with him. Most fans loved Colt McCoy, and would prefer his little brother Case. I happen to think David Ash is better. But we’ll see.
As for my other team… Notre Dame looked good against Air Force, but their defense is still weak, and the team as a whole still makes too many sloppy errors.

OSU looked excellent against Kansas.

According to the media relations guy, the 70 they put up was the most scored against a D1 team all season. The backups got more time than the starters. Two QBs threw for more than 200 yards.

Definitely looking forward to my roadtrip next weekend.

And once again, Texas A&M resorts to shady tactics. Texas Tech runs a fast offense to keep the D on their heels. Fortunately for A&M, an Aggie was injured when Tech gained a first down, slowing down the offense. Even more fortunately, the Aggie was just “shaken up” and returned to the game shortly thereafter. And yet more fortunately, this happened three times during the first quarter. Feigning injuries is for soccer, guys…

This happened during last year’s Cal - Oregon game – maybe twice during the game, Cal DL flopped with phantom cramps. Perhaps coincidentally, or not, it was Oregon’s worst offensive showing of the year, as Cal held them to a season low in yards and points.

Oregon fans screamed bloody murder and haven’t stopped. Cal fans, a bit shame-facedly, point out that if it’s illegal the refs would stop it; if it’s not, it’s just gamesmanship. And, btw, the defense does have the right to make substitutions.

ETA: I think the Pac-10 office issued a “knockitoff” order, and Cal suspended it’s DL coach (obviously the one designated to fall on his sword) for a game.
