BYU-TCU looks like it could be a good game, if we put aside BCS snobbery. USC-Oregon St. is interesting – OSU always gets better & better as the season progresses.
I like Oregon over UW, setting up next week’s Pac-10 showdown with USC.

One game that I conveniently left off “my games to watch” is Boston College @ Notre Dame which starts in just a few minutes.
ND started the week as a 9 pt favorite but the odds I see this morning are 7.5.
this could be Weis’s “Win it or You’re Fired” Game. ND has a pretty long losing streak to BC and BC has had a couple of really bad games.
Looked like Alabama was doing everything it could to lose that #1 ranking. McElroy was just useless and I think Saban was hesitant to rely on Ingram too much. He really shouldn’t have been. Uglier than the usual ugly Alabama style. Cody saved the day twice.
Woo hoo, Ga Tech has the inside track to ACC Championship Game. Thanks Clemson!! GT, VT, and UVa now have one loss apiece in the division but GT has beat both VT and UVa. GT has only two league games left (Wake and Duke), which [cross finger] they should win easily. [/cross fingers]
But you just never know in College Football. Did anyone going to the nebraska expect the Cornhuskers to get blown away by the Cyclones? (Yes, I know 9-7 is hardly a blow out but I couldn’t resist the pun).
ND wins another close game. Charlie Weis holds onto his job for another week. Its been a long time since they beat anyone noteworthy. They have one tough game left this season (at Pittsburgh)
Didn’t see the UT/Bama game but Bama could not have looked good.
I love Autumn Saturdays!
Holy shit. Roll Tide.
I’m gonna go puke for a while.
Did anyone see the finish of that Iowa-Michigan State game? Wow, what a awesome game. Loved the hook-and-ladder from MSU. That unnecessary roughness penalty on Iowa’s FG drive was complete garbage. I’m also surprised they didn’t take a closer look at that near-fumble on the goal line.
If the SEC keeps suspending Officiating crews, that won’t have anyone left. The UF interception run back into the endzone was fumbled before he crossed the “plane”. The replay crew should have reversed the call.
I am a SEC/UF fan, but Dustin Doe should be benched next week for “showboating and high stepping” into the endzone after he intercepted that ball. i was hoping the call would be reveresed and cost UF the game.
The Trojans almost lose to the Beavers, again (Trojans and Beavers, hehe.) Cincinnati’s win against OSU is looking better as the weeks go by and the Bearcats looked impressive today. The SEC undefeateds looked like garbage and Iowa got lucky. Texas and Cincinnati in the NC game?
Great finish to an incredible game. I think State got a bit of the shaft there as I thought Iowa fumbled near their goal line. The helmet contact call was I thought marginal at best. Great hook and ladder play. If State had taken the rubber bands off the playbook earlier it might have been a different story. Go Iowa, run the table and hope for some help to get to the title game. Go State, let’s win out and get a decent bowl.
Nobody can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory better than MSU. They have done it for decades.
I made note of College GameDays picks…Herbie went 3-6. He should stay away from casinos. In his defense, though, he picked a lot of upsets (like Washington over Oregon) instead of playing it safe.
Sorry, as I suspected, ESPN Game Day will be at Eugene for the USC/Oregon game.
Even though it starts at 7 am local time, it should be a great Game Day. Halloween morning. I really hope they do a feature on Animal House, I am sure there will be students dressed as Blutarsky, Dorfman, Otter, Neidermeyer, and Babs.
I hope Gameday will do a feature on Animal House. Although I wouldn’t be surprising if Eugene/Univ of Oregon wants to downplay that part of their history.
TOGA TOGA TOGA
The Stanford game is going to be tough as well. They’re not a pass-heavy team, but if Harbaugh knows what’s good for him, he’ll pass it all day long on the soft Irish secondary.
GameDay’s been there before (Cal, 2007; ASU, 2007) and I don’t recall Animal House coming up.
I predict ugliness for the end of the season. Cinci and Boise are playing local high schools the rest of the season and will be unbeaten. The usual lame arguments will follow.
Cincy has both Pittsburgh (#15) and West Virginia (#21) left.
IMO…The Big East is not a weak sister to the BCS conferences. Sagarin ranks the Big East ahead of both the Big 10 and the Big 12.
If Oregon beats USC, it make Boise St that much stronger.
This comment shows just how prejudiced your opinion of the Big East is. I don’t mean that in a bad bad way, just that you, like many, are predisposed to think of the Big East as some sort of weak sister. But that is not really true, and the teams in the Big East are demonstrating it.
Last weekend for this thread, when we’ll swing into CFB: November. Pretty good slate tomorrow – The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party (although Georgia looks really bad, and Florida looks really…lucky to be undefeated); USC - Oregon; Texas - Okie St. And the highlight of the day: Cal @ ASU! Wooo! go Bears!
Games on Halloween are always fun. Looking forward to some creative costumes.
Cal @ ASU ?? …now thats funny!!
" The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party " is “technically” no longer TWLOCP because TPTB are tring to downplay it. But it is going to take a long time to live that reputation down.
From wiki:
Yeah, and the Red River Shootout is now the Red River Rivalry. The candy-asses are taking over.
“The Florida-Georgia Game”? That’s creative.
