Alright, X-Mas episode of Ealr gone by, halfway through The Office. Thoughts so far:
Catalina running away after being asked if she was a citizen? Awesome. I did feel a little bad for her, though, and I think Randy should have gotten her a little gift.
Grace whatshername as…umm…Grace’s mom was good.
“I have a problem! Don’t judge me!”
The Office is both funny and painful as usual. I’m one of those people that feel for characters in movies and TV, and this is hurting me. But the ending is kind of nice, with Pam getting her teapot.
“I made a resolution to not drink anymore…during the week.”
Putting in a spoiler box just in case someone has Tivo’ed it.
Randy, Catalina and Earl are participating in a contest to see who could keep a hand on a car the longest. Earl wants the car to give to Joy to make up for ruining six Christmases. (Earl screws up immediately). Joy tells her parents she is still married to Earl, and that Earl has been in Iraq. Crabman has been sleeping in a Nativity scene meanwhile. Joy wants Earl to play along because she thinks her father is a racist. Grace has told everyone she is crippled and confined to a wheelchair.
I was a bit ticked at her. I know it was supposed to be funny, but ruining your husband’s business and stealing your daughter’s Christmas gift and snorting “Don’t judge me!” every five minutes? That got old real quick.
Why was Darnell staying at a Nativity scene?
I loved Catalina rattling off her social security number.
Yeah, she’s her real mom. Remember in the beauty pageant episode, Joy called her on the phone and asked her to be in the pageant with her? Mom said no, and Joy snapped, “Fine! All that smoking’s turned your skin to leather anyway!” This gave Joy the idea to pretend her mom was dead for the pageant and she (and Crabman) smoked up a bunch of cigerettes to fill the urn with ashes to stand in as Joy’s dead mom in the pageant.
“I wasn’t mad cause he was black, I was made cause he might have been your half brother.”
hehheh.
In The Office, I loved at the end how Jim seruptitiously (how do you spell that?) snagged his love letter to Pam back from the teapot. Who was that guy with Pam earlier in the show? Her boyfriend? I thought she was single, having ended a perennial engagement after the boss man ridiculed her at the karaoke party one too many times. (Or was that last year’s Christmas party?)
So basically, is Pam single or not? And was Jim unaware when he originally wrote the letter?
Finally, the best line of the night was not on either show, but rather sprinkled between them:
“Scrubs is back January 3rd.” Yay! But on the downside, does that mean that one of these shows is about to wrap up their season?
Pam is engaged to Roy, who works in the warehouse at the paper company, but he isn’t very commited, and takes her for granted. Jim, of course, is secretly in love with Pam, but is basically a nice guy and doesn’t have the nerve to let her know.
I don’t think so, because it mentioned that both Earl and The Office are gonig to Thursday. NBC is trying to ressurect it’s “SPectacular Thursday Night Lineup!”. Although with these two shows Thursdays will actually be decent, but sadly ER is a much worse drama than SVU, at least currently.
Also, “My Name is Earl” and “The Office” are moving to Thursdays as of January 5, when “Scrubs” starts again. NBC is going back to a 2-hour block of comedies on Thursday. “Joey” is out, “Will & Grace” moves to 8:00, a new show called “Four Kings” is at 8:30, then “Earl” and “Office”.
And as far as I know, The Apprentice hasn’t been given a day or timeslot yet. In my opinion, they should drive a stake through the heart of ER and put the Apprentice on in its slot.
