That would be good–we missed you! And you missed the chance to experiment with this different format (it will probably be quite a while before we get back to it). Still curious as to what the others thought about it.
I was a bit meh on this variant. The different probabilities of hitting draws, and having A6789 being a straight, often messed up my thinking. Maybe if I played this for a long time I would get used to it, but it’s not one of my favorites right now.
Also, minor nitpick, but I noticed you keep abbreviating my name as TSIMTTP, when it would actually be TGIMTTP.
Oops, sorry! I remembered that it was inverted from the “pen is mightier than the sword” but not that you had subbed in “gun” for “sword”.
I set up next Friday’s variety tourney earlier this time. It’s five card draw, the enduring childhood/Old West classic. 9:30 Eastern.

I understand the calculations. Take the top 10 scores and add them. I just don’t understand why we are using that way. No worries, it’s all good.

It was TGIMTTP’s idea, but I for one like it. If we didn’t do it that way, the rankings would mostly reflect who has been playing the longest, or the most regularly. But you still get a benefit from playing more, just a less dramatic one. Your best ten out of 30 is likely to be significantly better than your first ten.

Yes, you did–and that must have been better than your previous tenth-best result, as you were the only one of the top three to see your points increase. Still, the top five positions on the leaderboard remain in the same order, although Poor Yorick, with his big win tonight (congrats!) moved up a couple spots and is knocking on the door of that top five. FrostedGlass’s second place finish also boosted his point total, and our newest player Mr. Pete got off to an auspicious start with a third-place finish.
