Leaderboard is updated. manson1972, with his one rebuy, got less points for finishing 2nd than SDMB mc who finished 3rd. With a player count of 2N, someone with one rebuy will have to finish Nth place or better to equal the points of the person who finishes dead last but doesn’t rebuy.
I love this mathematical observation! Poker has a bad reputation in some quarters, but it’s very math-nerdy (in addition of course to the psychology, which is what most people are quicker to think of).

Do you guys think we should try to get the word out elsewhere, like say on MPSIMS? Or is that too spammy? I know I generally haven’t spent much time on the Games board, and I wonder how many others are similar but would enjoy playing poker.
I’m pretty sure a post elsewhere will just get moved to here.

Yikes. According to the poker calculators Frostedglass and SDMB mc had a 94% and 3% chance respectively of winning that hand given the cards on the flop, but given it’s PokerStars, you always gotta swap those numbers 
Leaderboards are updated again. Even with my first win, I am still trailing SlackerInc by a tiny amount for the top position.

Well, blow me down: you do, at that. You are only behind because you didn’t play the first week. Once we’ve been going awhile and all the top contenders have played at least ten times, that kind of thing will sort itself out.
Only a few minutes until our weekly game starts! There will however be late registration for at least a half hour (maybe an hour, not totally sure), So you can still quickly go through the steps in the OP and sign up for the first time if you do it right now.
