Come on in, the water's warMMP

When somebody in Michigan is worried about the weather elsewhere, you know it’s bad.

But do they all live in Texas?
(obscure music trivia)

Hang in there Sari; work is even longer when you’re feeling poorly, but keep getting that rest (the house and dog will survive) and things will start getting better (OK, maybe not till March, but be optimistic).

boofae, guess you have a reputation as a Miracle worker; or else they are all asses–take your pick, whichever makes you feel better…

Nut, been there, forgot check. Least you didn’t lose it behind the furniture.

Got out of the house into 16F weather and spent a fair number of bucks on two new toilets (one needed replacing so I figured that if one, might as well get both changed. Installation probably next week.

BLT’s consumed for lunch, rest period now.

Boy FCM is just a cussing up a storm. I am at irk. Late but here. I had to drive hubbys new little van and I don’t know squat about how anything works. He also has a new larger service vehicle on order. My car is getting new shoes and a real spare instead of that toy donut.

big GIANT BLURF

I lived in New Jersey once. My experience is that even minor snowfalls created massive delays due to the lack of resources for dealing with heavy snowfall. That and maybe the crazy traffic just really seemed to ramp up weather problems. In Michigan you wouldn’t bat an eye at five inches, but out there it can be a real event.

I am not well today. I got poor sleep, got up in the dark and cold for a morning meeting and now I have an invasive doctor appointment. I’ve had abdominal pain all morning. The last thing I want right now is to be poked and prodded.

I want to go home, curl up with my mobile heating pads* and sleep.

*recommended if you can afford to buy them cat food.

I looked out at my car. It’s snow-covered - duh. I don’t have a snow brush. Dammit. It’s so hard being me!!!

Lunch is over - back to work!

Buy a new car, arrange for that one to be stolen and cleaned, or just hope the good Lord takes a liking to it and blows it up real good?
Other than that hugs to all the sickies. I am about 50% back to my normal form of abnormal but our two coldest days start basically now. Am not totally displeased (whenever I feel like that I call up a web-cam of the current conditions in Irkutsk or Syktyvkar) but I wouldn’t mind say another 10 degrees or so.

You could use your briefcase.

I went for a walk this morning; there was no evidence I went out on my way back; footprints were either filled in &/or eradicated by the wind. The good news is I can see blacktop on the driveway; not from shoveling but from the wind gusts. The bad news is opening the front door is challenging. There’s more snow on the (covered & much smaller) porch than there is on the driveway.

Are you getting snow there, too? :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn Strait.

So where you go needs to go?

Debating on whether to go to Panera for a snack; sure I could bake something here, but that’s not as much fun as a walk in the Winter Wonderland. Unless I take my bike out; I really should get a fat tire bike for weather like this; they’re fun.
I am going to [del]run[/del] snowshoe club tonight.
Oh, BTW, following up on last week’s discussion about pizza for breakfast. Purple crust???
Fell better, [del]sickies[/del] sickos.

Feel better all of you [del]sickos[/del] sickies. Everyone else just concentrate on keeping you and yours warm.

Went in for my quarterly wellness check this morning. I’m down a couple of pounds, the BP and everything else is good. We’ll see what the labs have to say.

Stopped at the cheap Chinese down the street for some house special soup for lunch.

Let us mail dirty facial tissues to him.

I HAVE to go to the store today. I’m out of coffee creamer!
I might pick up some TP while I’m there too.

(Wifey puts mocha mix in her coffee, but I find it pretty tasteless.)

We made a variation* on Morning Glory muffins last night. They are so stinkin good!

*We put pineapple in ours, and pecans instead of walnuts.

Sorry youse guys are gettin snowed on. Not sorry we’re not.

Try to stay warm.

Let us mail him some dirty frozen precipitation. :dubious:

Somehow, that doesn’t sound like breakfast.

Sorry about the car Butters. Not a good way to start the day.

BooFae I might be extremely tempted to take my frustrations out on those bootcamp cancelling no-goodniks until I got my money back. 2 hours notice. Humpf! If they can cancel with no notice, I betcha they can give your money back. I suppose you could also save it as a credit for the next class, and let them know that you’ll never darken their doors after that. No, I am NOT cranky.

Mooomm If it’s not frozen, cardboard or a broom might get the basics done on your car, damnit.

John  The problem is knowing whether it’s releasing pressure or warming up for the main event. It’s well over do. Do you have your kit all packed?

Sparkly Hope the doctor’s appt goes well and you feel better soon. My mobile heating pads are similar. My son’s little dog curls up under the covers next to me, and our cat curls up on top of the covers right next to him. They snuggle up and don’t seem to notice that they are Not Speaking. If the cover is moved, the dog hurries out of reach, and the cat hisses.

Good for you Red on the wellness check!

All of you sickies feel better!

I am cuddled up with my mobile heating pads (I like it and will steal the phrase, with permission) and doing some filibustering, as SkyGuy says. Afterwards, perhaps a nice nap.

Only got a medium dusting of snow, and it’s mostly melted where it’s sunny. It’s 32 at the moment. Kitchen is clean, and carpet is vacuumed.

By George, you may be right.

Boofae ,sounds like the Pointy stick weilding Sri Lankan Spiders are gonna get a workout.

Feel better all you illin’ Mumpers!

Mobile* organic *heating pads.

Nuts, I’m going to Scotland in June and have leftover pound coinage. Can I change it at a bank?

Had a restless night and there isn’t a muscle that doesn’t hurt from coughing. Got up at 7:30, had brekkie, back to sleep on the couch from 9 til 11, woke up, went upstairs to my bed from 11 til 2. I don’t ever remember feeling this lousy.

It is 36 [sup]o[/sup]. A heat wave, put it is becoming more cold.
This building has a furnace, with radiators on the ceiling, and there is a central A/C and furnace for the offices. Someone having removed the thermostat, the building furnace is apparently off or on. It was 82[sup]o[/sup] when I came to work at 7:00 Ante Meridian.

The guy who runs maintenance suggested that we turn the office thermostat down to 68[sup]o[/sup].
I opened some windows.

We’re promised temps in the 40s and rain early next week. But first, we have to get thru a weekend with single-digit lows.

I am not amused. But I can leave shortly, so there’s that.

From the looks of the radar, it’s still snowing here. Hard to tell by looking out the window if it’s really precip or just blown off roofs. Regardless, it’ll be cold and horrible out there.

Not amused at all. But I am glad I wore my boots.

It’s not uphill both ways :stuck_out_tongue: This isn’t Yorkshire.

I believe it hasn’t really snowed in this county since 2010, and that’s ‘really snowing’ being snow actually settling and lasting more than a few hours, I don’t mean actual really snowing. I dread to think what would happen if we had the weather some of you are having.

Anyway, cheque is in bank, on second attempt, and a vile din (as my family charmingly called it when I tried to learn as a kid) has been ordered. Let’s see how it goes. I researched a bit, and got a beginner model from a decent brand, which appear to have a decent resale value if I don’t get on with it. I want something fun for Christmas, as my actual present from my parents was a vacuum cleaner (which I did ask for).

Wetone, banks and exchange places will hopefully allow you to switch; though check what you’ve got 'cos £1 coins, and old style £5 notes are already not valid in shops and need changing, with £10 notes to be fully switched over in March. I think by that point, banks don’t have to exchange unless you have an account with them.

Edit: Other coins are all still valid, unless you have the old old ones.

Those Dickens illustrations show veritable snow banks.
:dubious:

Not in Cornwall. Plus the weather was colder all over Europe in Dickens’ time.

I’ve never seen snow in England deeper’n about 6", except maybe on t’hills oop North.

NUT You are where they film Poldark? That Aiden Turner is beautiful.
