I’ve grown to tolerate the myriad TV ads for anti-tardive dyskinesia drugs that pervade my classic TV shows like Adam-12.* They’re better if you insert your own dialogue.
“Mom, your face and eyes are doing those weird movements again. It’s time to see the doctor.”
“Shaddup, you little turd, or I’ll drop-kick your ass into next week.”
*apparently, the great majority of viewers are afflicted with schizophrenia, fatty livers and/or depression.
What gets me is, the dumb actor guy just produced a beekeeper suit and bees before the cracker scene, and the director says not a word about the whole getup, but immediately after he wonders how the guy got crackers?
There’s a commercial for some diaper brand, where an athletic guy is at the gym working out, with his baby. Like, he’s holding her up to the basketball hoop so she can dunk; that sort of thing. It’s just so daddy.
This is about a YouTube ad, so I don’t know how to link to it, but…
Usually I mute YT ads and hit skip as soon at possible, but this one started with a song and AI images --realistic cartoon, animated-- of a young man in bed with a woman in a nice bedroom. The song explained how he was sleeping with a married woman - part of a family who trusted him.
And I listened to a goddam four minute ballad of how the woman’s family were supernaturally healthy, while his own father was dying from cancer. The music was country-folk, the words and voice direct and simple.
It took maybe three minutes for the sales pitch to even begin. In the end they were selling preserved/processed dark brown garlic bulbs.
I probably won’t watch it again, but the first time through it was fascinating. Mostly due to how slow the pitch was.
