A concentration camp is not a death camp. And even “concentration” camp overstates the facts. A concentration camp, I think, presumes no one there is allowed to leave (such as the American concentration camps that interred Japanese during WWII). Essentially it is a prison.
The people in Gaza are free to come and go. Well, they would be if anyone else will let them come but few will. As noted Egypt has its shared border with them closed despite presumably being in solidarity with the Palestinian’s plight. But of course, again as noted, that is somehow Israel’s fault.
But if other countries allowed them then the Palestinians could come and go. The Israelis are not forbidding them that. Just forbidding them entry into Israel for the most part.
I’m calling the internment camps we put the Japanese in during WWII concentration camps as well. They were, in the original sense of the word–which was used to describe the British camps where Boers were incarcerated in the Boer War.
The Nazis were the ones who innovated turning concentration camps into death camps. One can also condemn the Serbs and others for following their example.
Israel is not engaging in any systematic killing of Palestinians for genocidal purposes. How do I know this? Because all of Gaza is much less than 200 square miles, and Israel could certainly buy enough thermobaric weapons to scorch the entire place to uselessness for a fraction of their military budget.
Israel’s actions, while not ideal, are consistent with an overall objective of ending weapon attacks and border jumping by the Palestinians. While they do show an occasionally appalling lack of consideration for collateral damage, they are nonetheless NOT consistent with an Israeli intent to commit genocide or expand their borders in any meaningful way.
And there is the whole launching rockets thingy. Usually not looked on favorably by those running the concentration camps…
ETA: But, you know, if Pat Buchanan (in italics!) says it, it’s got to be true! I mean, if you can’t trust Pat Buchanan (in italics!) who CAN you trust??
Technically that doesn’t meet the criteria, as Kent State wasn’t in the midst of armed conflict as generally understood, and the LAPD aren’t soldiers (and that looks more like a pump shotgun than an automatic weapon).
Note her shopping in a store with full shelves and food stacked out on the street. Oh, but it seems the store takes Mastercard . . . and not American Express.
Did the food shops at Bergen Belsen take credit cards?
Everyone these days plays the media game and tries to spin it to their viewpoint. Palestinians were winning this last round. If what you posted is true I do not find it surprising in the least.
So, even if what you were responding to was placed there by an Israeli plant, are you saying that in fact there are no food stores that are well stocked and take credit cards in the concentration camp that is Gaza?
I see the temptation was too, ah, tempting, for you to resist, ehe? This is pure comedy gold.
The thing is…how does any of this help your own case or what you are projecting in your OP? The fact that Israel may or may not be using a supposed Army of Bloggers™ really has no bearing on your assertion that the situation between Gaza and Nazi Germany is in any way comparable.
You know, when Serbian Army forces overrun Srebrenica (if you have to Google it - then you fit the mold) and killed males between 16 and 60 their defence against genocide charge was that if they really intented to commit genocide they would not left females alive. Raped yes, but still alive. Court agreed. With pretty much similar langauge as above. It’s funny how every new generation finds new levels of subtlety.
I have no idea what your point is. The pictures I linked to were no doubt posted for purposes of advocacy, just like the pictures you linked to in the OP.
I think this is a good question. I would like an answer too.
Pfffft. Shows what you know. Hitler fucking loved facebook. Goering founded LiveJournal. The blogosphere was, in fact, originally built from human skin. Although then it was more of a human-skin-baloon-osphere that Nazis wrote emo poetry on and then, after filling it with a fresh dose of helium, sailed it over to the next town. True story.
Need I point out that Israelis were instrumental in the development of Instant Messenging?
It’s sad story, but how is it related to OP? Unless you have cite giving example of Israeli rounding up Palestinians between 16 and 60 and killing them up.
Also, I’d like to note that at least some of killers from Srebrenica were found guilty of genocide.
