Computer Gamers: What are you playing these days?

I fired up Panzer General 3D over the weekend and dusted off my copy of EUIII…haven’t played that one in a while. Still mostly playing the expansion for MTWII thought these days. Having a bit of trouble with the German campaign for some reason. I keep running out of money early on and then it’s an uphill fight. The other 3 campaigns are pretty easy (especially the one in the New World as the Spanish).

I’m really looking forward to Hellgate though. That seems like its going to be a pretty cool game. Anyone trying out Tabula Rasa? I tried the beta and it didn’t seem very fun, but it was an early beta so maybe it got better.

I’ve been playing Fortress Forever, a Team Fortress Classic type mod for Half Life 2. Very well done and very fun.

I’m replaying Grand Theft Auto Vice City now that I got it to run in XP. And I still play Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

Also playing the old racing games Motoracer2, ReVolt, and Offroad Redneck Racing.

Trying to find time to play The Ship, hard to find a server with a decent ping that isn’t playing deathmatch.

I’m playing WoW again, since my sis and mom talked me back into it. I think it’s a better game today than it was two years ago. I’m curious about Pirates of the Burning Sea, the man-your-own-pirate-ship mmo, but that won’t be out until next January.

I’m in the Hellgate beta. I’m contemplating the lifetime subscription price but I haven’t made up my mind yet. I’m looking forward to the new Simcity Societies that’s due out in a month. It makes the diehard Simcity fans foam at the mouth but I think it sounds like an interesting departure.

On the DS, I’m playing Hotel Dusk, Pokemon Pearl & Puzzlequest. And I just got a Wii, so I’m doing Twilight Princess & Wii Sports and thinking about Toejam & Earl on the Virtual Console.

No I don’t have a problem. Nothing a sugar daddy couldn’t fix.

WoW, because… sob! my CD’s for Arcanum got broken!

Mostly playing Eve these days
Funny that Vampire should get a couple mentions (seeing how it’s oldish), I just fired that up after remembering I wanted to play it a long time ago, it’s a pretty decent games, had a couple of intensely annoying times getting stuck in boxes and having to reload, but overall, it seems very well done overall.

I can’t wait for Starcraft II, I’m going to jump in to the mapping scene immediately, see if I can get a couple of popular maps in like the ones I was known for back when I mapped for WarIII…

Also, FEAR when I need to shoot things, playing through on the hardest difficulty setting right now.
I have stranglehold but haven’t fired it up yet, seems like it oughta be a good one, hopefully my computer can handle it decently.

Right now I’m fooling around on the Tabula Rasa beta. I’ve reached the point where any more advancement just won’t be worth it due to the upcoming playerwipe, but I’m waiting eagerly for the release nonetheless. Likewise, I look forward to getting the Orange Box this weekend (Half-Life 2, Portal!, Team Fortress 2!) and screwing around with that.

Crusader Kings.

Ditto! I also left this super fun game because it was too creepy and I wanted someone to get me past the part I was on (wolfy). I seriously had to play the house full o’ zombies with my lights on, the game sound off, and in third person view (when I usually play first)… shudder It sort of ruined the rest of the game for me because I was stilled freaked out. Even though I loved almost everything about that game, I just can’t handle real looking zombies. shiver

I wish they’d make the next game slightly less creepy (ooh! And cuter vampires! And more social options!)

ahem Now that I’m done with that side track - I’m now playing Wow, it’s fun! I also periodically buy Sims 2 expansion packs and go back to my neighborhood. I’m on third generation Pleasantville.

My husband just finished Bioshock, he loves the game though *Crackdown * is still the hands down favorite. He’s playing the latest *Halflife * now, but doesn’t like it as much as Bioshock.

I’ve been playing Supreme Commander with a couple buddies who finally picked it up. Other than that, I just finished up HL2:Ep. 1 and am eagerly awaiting the Orange Box release.

Just finished BioShock…felt a little dissapointing when it was all said and done. Of course I played on Easy mode so maybe that’s my problem. Now playing TeamFortress2 and freaking loving it! I just finished a 45 minute run and racked up my first >100 point round. sigh

Hahaha! I got through the zombie house alright, but that is exactly what I did for the haunted hotel, plus I made my girlfriend stay in the room with me. I love scary movies, because they can’t get me, but interactive horror turns me into a 6-year-old girl crying into my pigtails. (This includes scary theme park rides/haunted houses.)

I’m pretty hidebound when it comes to games, and don’t play very many. For example, I’ve just finished replaying HL2, which I played for the first time a few months ago. I totally adore the HL universe and Valve’s format of gameplay. Really looking forward to Ep2! I wish I was brave enough to try multiplayer games like TeamFortress, but I know I’d suck at 'em and would just annoy everyone arround me. So I content myself with HL/HL2 single player mods. Speaking of which, thanks, anamnesis, for the recommendation of Minerva. I’m downloading it now!

Not sure what other games to try that are similar to HL. I tried the Bioshock demo but it didn’t thrill me – seemed too complex. I just wanna talk to/kill/interact with things and explore cool places; I don’t want to look through menus for intricate combinations of in-game activities. Hell, I can barely coordinate the grenade launcher in HL!

The haunted hotel broke me. As awesome as Bloodlines is, I couldn’t get past it. I even found a bug that let me start the game with all 4s and 5s in every possible attribute, skill, and ability, and I still didn’t feel equipped enough to handle the hotel.

VtM:Bloodlines and Eternal Darkness are the only two horror games I made a real attempt at, because they’re just so well-done. I can’t stand horror normally, there’s no fun in the experience for me.

I managed to pass the haunted hotel only by keeping all the lights on, and the sound off. The visuals were bad enough, but the sounds too? shivers

Before I saw what came with the Orange Box yesterday, I thought this was a rather funny dig at the last stages of HL2 itself.

You guys should play F.E.A.R… Half the game is like that… only with better graphics and more creep factor… the hotel level and that are the only truly spooky games I’ve played (on a side note, I thought the mansion wasn’t that bad…unless it’s a different mansion we’re talking about…)

I’d still be playing Elite If I could.

Right now I’m playing Age of Empires III. Although I’m ticked at how sucky the expansion for that one was. The native American tribes you can play are woefully underpowered in the later stages of the game.

After that I’m probably going to go back and do Arcanum again. I’ve got it installed, I just haven’t gotten around to playing it just yet.

I finished Oblivion, although by the later stages I was getting bored with it. I may take a look at some of the user mods and try it again here in a while. The mod community was always the best part of the Elder Scrolls games.

Other than that, there’s not much out there that interests me. Since I can’t always tell from reading the box, are there any RTS games that are space based? I can’t stand turned based stuff, which is what all the Civ games are.

The best RTS out there right now (IMHO) is World in Conflict (review by Gamespy if you are interested). Also, Company of Hero’s has an expansion but I haven’t tried it yet. The original game was pretty cool though…and I don’t usually like RTS games that much anymore. Neither is a space based RTS…but then I don’t know of any space based RTS games that are not at least a year or so old. You could try the Warhammer 40k games…they had a fairly cool expansion out a year or so back.

Well, hotel I guess not mansion. The one with all the ghosts and if you went into Obfuscate while a Malkie you got all sorts of creepy voices talking to you (not just the general Malkavian Madness Network but also the spirits). Which is why I turned off the sound, it was making me twitchy.

I couldn’t play something that had MORE. It was bad enough (I creep myself out easily at times).
