Hi all! Lots of hugs and positive thoughts to SCL.
I’m just driving by, we’re still dealing with the fallout from the dead server. On the plus side of things, I manged to migrate 11 departments and 650 people onto the new system in two days. For comparison, the guy who’s managing the other half of the project has managed to migrate a similar number of people in two years. I’m guessing there’s a reason that they asked me to “help” him.
I’m good. Yes I am.

And strange as it sounds, I understand how you could think 72° is hot. It all depends on what you’re used to. For example, it’s definitely gonna be a hot one here today – it’s already 92°F/33°C, and it’s supposed to get up to close to 100 before the day is out. It’s also fairly humid. Which is standard New Orleans summer weather, but around here they’re freaking out, as always. Although, to be fair, this weather is a lot easier to deal with when you build up a tolerance for it. I’m looking forward to autumn, though, and being able to open the windows again. I’m quite envious of where Alabaster Bunny will be living, where even if it gets up to 100° during the day, it cools down into the 40s/50s at night! Perfect sleeping weather. Sigh.
Back to work, which is piled to the ceiling, as usual. August is supposed to be slow in my line of work! What happened?

I’ve missed you! I’ve been so busy at work, and since I’ve been so busy, I’m also behind on my regular work, so I guess I’m still busy.
I told you all Antiques Roadshow came to Kentucky? If not – well, they did. It was so much fun! If you remember, I work for a PBS station, so I went in official ‘work’ capacity: distributing surveys, running a booth, walking around and yakking with people. It was this third thing I really excel at. It was a nosy person’s dream! Here are thousands of people in one place, bearing weird items that they’re just bursting to talk about. I was actually hoarse by the end of the day. My feet were killing me and I was dog-tired, but it was so fun!

Update on the bug the cat brought into the apartment this morning: it was still alive when I went home at lunch and I had to catch it in a cup and throw it back outside.
What? It was HUGE! I wasn’t going to squish it. Can you imagine the splat that would have made on the carpet?!
