Connection timed out...

Since about early July, I’ve been unable to connect to my host (sexsexworld.com). It kept saying :Connection Timed Out", “Connection Failed”. This is something that has NEVER happened before. But, I guess there’s a first time for everything. I tried using another FTP(I have two) and the result was the same.

On July 13th and July 23rd, I was able to get through. But now, I have been unable to. I honestly don’t know what the problem could be since the other hostees can update and Daowajan can connect just fine(she redesigned my page and has access because of that).

Neither of us have an idea of what is going on though and neither of us have an idea about how to fix it. I e-mailed my host(who is helpful, but slow) last night and have yet to get a response.

So, this is the only place I could turn to. What is the problem and how do I FIX it. I have a huuuuge update just waiting to be uploaed…

[bump]

giggle…sexsexworld…giggle.

EHEHEHEHE! I keep having to say that it’s not a porn site and neither is my host. Ehehehehe…

Now I wish I could figure out what the problem is with connecting, so I could update…

Boy, that is one dirty website. tsk.

I connected just fine. Oh my eyes!

You talking about sexsexworld.com or my own site? eheh

Oh and to be clear, I meant connecting through FTP, so I could upload files. It keeps saying “connection timed out”.

Are you using CuteFTP? Try turning off “use firewall settings” which you’ll find under “advanced” when right-clicking on the name of your site in your directory.

It might also be handy if you let the folks here know which FTP client(s) you’re using, what kind of connection you have (dialup, cable, etc.), what OS you have, and what, if any changes, you’ve made between being able to connect and not being able to connect.

It’s ok, Jurhael… don’t worry… it happens sometimes… We’ll just try again later, ok?

I use Ws-FTP LE and LeechFTP. I have a dial-up and I use Microsoft Windows 98. The browser is IE 6.0.
I’ve been told elsewhere that it may have been caused by corrupted cookies because IE is odd and to clear the cookies. I did and now I’m able to connect. So I guess it’s a cookie thing.

Course I also cleared my cache.

At the MS-DOS prompt type in “tracert url” (traceroute if you are using NT). If you don’t understand what comes back copy and paste it here.

Usually when that happens to me the ISP changed something in the settings, what did they say?

If the ISP has made any changes in their settings, I don’t know about them…

My host told me that none of the other hostees have been having any problems or no one told him. I don’t think the host has changed any of the settings. In fact, the only thing that will be changing is the fact that in a month, sexsexworld.com may be going down permanently, which means I have to find another host soon anyway…:frowning:

        • request timed out.
          Did that 30 times…
