Because she is willing to go out with you.
People, people, I think that we are getting away from the main point here. What I want to know is: is she hot?
Because I am married to a ‘nerdy girl,’ and she is damn hot. Perhaps all the hotter for being nerdy.
If you don’t find her attractive, I don’t see what the moral dilemma is. No one is asking you to ‘take one for the team.’ If you do, what the fuck is your problem? Give it a try, and maybe you two will hit it off.
However, assuming that you’re doing her a favor is the wrong way to go about it. Ever consider that she sees your homely ass all alone every day, and is making overtures because she feels sorry for you?
I say go for it and ask her out. You’d actually be doing her a favor–she’d know better in the future what kind of guy to avoid.
Us geeky, nerdy girls appreciate your concern.
Leave the girl alone. She can do better then you.
I say ask her out.
But only because there’s a chance she may laugh in your face and reduce that oversized ego you appear to be sporting.
Pity date. :wally
I say he should ask her out so that she can help with his grammar.
Why drag that sweet little old lady into this whole sorid, sorid affair?
His Grammer ain’t responsible!
[Foghorn Leghorn] Son, I say son, when you find yourself in the bottom of a hole, you’ve got to put the shovel down and stop digging. Are ya listenin’ to me, Boy? [/ Foghorn Leghorn]
Shakes, you need to sit down and re-think this whole issue and your attitude. If you come to realize the answer to your question (quoted above), then go back re-read all the advice. If you still don’t have a clue, forget about Nerd Girl and stick with the barflies.
SHAKES, how can you even ask why people are spewing venom on you for this thread? Maybe there’s a reason why all the girls you date are drunk. You’re an ass. Your prick doesn’t care so just keep dating those barflies. The OP girl in question doesn’t deserve your pity or your “charity”. Just do the world a favor and wear condoms… DON’T BREED.
I’d like to echo some of the other sentiments. Leave us nerd chicks alone and stick with the drunken bar-flies.
I wonder if “nerd girl” would even bother with you if she had the slightest inkling that you were going out with her out of charity? I sure the hell wouldn’t.
Also, what would make you think that she doesn’t have any friends and never gets asked out? Is it because you think she’s a nerd or because she’s told you she doesn’t have any friends and never gets asked out? That’s a pretty big assumption, and I hope you have good evidence to back it up.
I’m just sayin’.
This is going to end up in the pit.
Its a shame its not. I have a few choice words for the OP.

Re. nerd girls
I think what’s supposed to happen is that you try to get “self-centred Barbie chick”, who strings you along a little but then goes off with “beach-bully Jock”. Determined to win “self-centred Barbie chick” back, you suddenly get extremely good at karate/boxing/basketball/whatever Jock is good at, during which time you meet “cute nerd girl”. You then trounce “beach-bully Jock” at his own game, and “self-centred Barbie chick” is about to fling herself into your arms, but you’ve fallen in love with cute nerd girl by that point and it all ends happily ever after.
However that’s not what’ll happen, because you, sir, are evidently a bounder and a cad. So off you go with self-centred Barbie chick, please, and await the arrival of a scrawny kid to make you look like a twit later on.
Honestly, anyone would think Karate Kid/Teenwolf/South Park had never been written…
Why? Why should you ask out nerd girl?
Because when you’re #2, you try harder!
You might lose your virginity!
[subtle] See, now, I was thinking the OP was #2. [/subtle]
I kid, I kid.
SHAKES, how’s about I shoot you an email and you give me her number? I dig nerdy girls. Non-nerdy girls usually can’t handle my idiosyncratic behavior.
Hmm… This thread is either:
a) Going to end up in the Pit.
b) Turn into a nerd girl appreciation thread.
Dude. Don’t inflict yourself on this poor girl; it’ll just turn her off to men forever.
SHAKES, please leave the nerd girls for guys (or girls) who deserve them.
