Could cigarettes burn my tongue in this scenario?

I was at a party the other night and picked up what I thought was my beer. Much to my enjoyment this particular bottle was someone’s impromptu ashtray. So for a couple seconds I accidentally swirled around cigarettes and the water and/or beer they had been floating in around my mouth. Later that night I noticed what looked like a burn on the tip of my tongue. Could the cigarettes have created something caustic enough to burn my tongue in this way. I know none of them were lit and I don’t smoke so I’m thinking that is what caused the burn.

No. You just got initiated into the world of overpartying. I am sad to say that I have done the say thing and can still puke on command if you make me think about it too much. As bad as cigarettes are, they are meant to go in your mouth. When I was younger, I could do many trick with them including putting the lit end in my mouth and smoking it that way. That doesn’t cause tongue sores although you might want to try and remember the rest of the night. Herpes does cause soars and blisters and I suppose the onset could be rapid if that was the method of entry.
