Crossover stories that really should happen

So, I was reading Rex Stout’s “In the Best of Families,” the one where Nero Wolfe finally takes on and defeats his nemesis Arnold Zeck, and it occurred to me that Wolfe could easily have sidestepped all that risk, stress and folderol by picking up the phone and calling Spenser for Hire down in Boston, and asking Spenser to put him in touch with Hawk. Then all Wolfe needs to do is drop half of that $40,000 he’s been saving up in case he has to take Zeck on, on Hawk. In very short order, Zeck would be out of the picture. Pushing up daisies. Sleeping with the fishes. 'Cause what’s hard for a sissy genius detective like Wolfe is easy for a hard-boiled shooter like Hawk.

Anybody else every have the expeirence of reading a book, watching a movie or a TV program, and thinking, “Wow, this whole deal would be no problem for ____.”?

I like your general idea  , but I think there would be some problems with Wolfe and Spenser killing Zeck.
I expect they’d get on (both like poetry and Wolfe could devise plans for Spenser to carry out), but there are a couple of difficulties:

  • Zeck is pretty well guarded, living in a remote mansion with armed bodyguards
  • even if Hawk did pull it off, there’s the risk of retribution
  • it’s not Wolfe’s style (and Spenser’s not that keen on assassination, although he does kill a couple of pimps in one book)

I would imagine Jed Bartlet on West Wing would have liked to have been able to call up Jack Bauer on 24.

I keep imaging a L&O:SVU / Medium crossover, where Allison and her family are on a trip to New York and she gets involved in a rape/homicide case.

But only if they team her up with Munch and Ice T, not Stabler and Benson. I wanna hear Ice T asking, “Who the hell does this beeyotch think she is? We had people like her a dime a dozen in the hood, they’d tell your future for five bucks but the only thing that ever happened was, you lost five bucks.”

And then Munch would say, “I share your suspicions, but word from Allison’s crew is that she’s one medium that, when she’s says “The body is buried here,” the body WILL be buried there. So let’s check her out. Could be fun either way.”

I’d love a House/Scrubs crossover, and have House face-off with Cox over…well, anything. One drowneth in the snark!

I don’t know why, but I suddenly had the most unlikely cross-over vision of Firefly and Carnivale.

Rev. Crowe: “Blah blah blah I am so evil. Evil-cakes for everyone because I’m so charismatic no one will stand up to me.”

Mal Reynolds: BLAM

Rev Crowe dies.

Mal Reynolds: “That so?”

Made me giggle.

Me too!

I always suspected that Veronica Mars and Arrested Development take place in the same world.

Of course Barry Zuckercorn and Cliff McCormack went to law school together (probably studied for the bar together and shared ideas about cheating). And I’ll bet Maeby Funke produced an Aaron Echolls movie, and Jake Kane and George Bluth were business partners.

the best part of this would be Munch’s history with other tv shows (X-Files in particular)

The Borg vrs the Draka ; the spacegoing cybernetic communalists vrs the self appointed master race. The idea’s not original with me; somebody wrote a partial fanfic on it.

The misogynistic world of Gor vrs the demon worshiping matriarchs of the Drow.

I always thought a 24-The Shield crossover would be awesome.

Two that I’ve always wanted…in the background even, not a huge “thing”… just a nod.

X-Files/Indiana Jones — just once, in a warehouse scene, you see the Ark in the background…

Star Wars/Star Trek… When Picard was on one of his archeology trips… he finds vaders helmet, (or) a lightsaber, a stormtrooper uniform…

again… nothing overt… just in the background and not really commented on.

I’ll vote with both arms and thrid and fourth that.

Picture this:

The rag-tag colonial fleet finally finds Earth…

…Earth-that-Was.

I think a more interesting fight would be the Closer from John Barnes’ “Caeser’s Bicycle” series vs. the Draka. The Closers would have a strong techno edge, but the the Draka’s emphasis on individual warrior skills would make them extremely effective in close combat of any kind. And best of all, they’re both such ruthless, arrogant, fascist scum that no matter who loses, everybody wins!

When I was a kid, I started thinking about that Battlestar Galactica episode where Apollo recieves a transmission from the Apollo 11 moon landing, and got to thinking…that tranmission must have taken at least dozens and maybe hundreds of years to reach the Galactica. So how cool would it have been to have the Galactica reach Earth and find the United Federation of Planets waiting for them…

I’ll add two arms and a leg!

tries to add other leg, falls over

Cold Case and Happy Days = we finally find out what happened the the missing brother Chuck.

CSI-NCIS.
