Cruz drops out of the race

Never. For the first time in my life, I probably won’t vote. Unless I find an obscure 3rd party candidate to vote for just to say I’ve done my civic duty and registered a silent protest.

Maybe.

I tend to think of the “Lucifer” comment as a public signaling event, that the Republican establishment was in no way going to accept Ted Cruz and what Boehner said in public was being said a thousand times in private. So while there may have been waffling in the RNC on the question of “Which devil is better: Trump or Cruz?” prior to NY, after NY the answer became readily apparent and the machine was put into action.

The Cruz and #NeverTrump campaigns spent $6 million on Indiana. The governor (former Chairman of the House Republican Conference) endorsed Cruz. New York was a gut punch but they still had a whisper of a hope and they tried hard. There was always discord in the “establishment” whether Cruz would be better than Trump. Boehner just went on the record voicing that discord, which certainly didn’t help Cruz.

Yep. He’ll be reelected to the Senate in 2018, and will then immediately begin his 2020 campaign for President.

There’s always Gary Johnson. (Jeez, what a terrible picture. That’s the kind of photo your opposition uses, not your campaign.)

I think about that once in a while when CNN shows the glamour shots of candidates. Why don’t they do what newspapers do? Use photos that show the candidate with their head at an odd angle, mouth open in such a way that they appear to be trying to expel a half swallowed burrito, and every nose hair lovingly detailed in grainy black and white?

Old joke:

Cruz, to campaign staffer: “Why do people take such an instant dislike to me?”
Staffer: “Because it saves time.”

Gosh, I just don’t see it that way.

Cruz is an awful human being but he’s a professional politician. As President he’d act like a President, basically trying to keep the ship sailing along in a manner that would keep as many people as possible not mad at him.

Trump, as President, could do immense damage. His actions on free trade alone could plunge America into a depression that would make 2008 look like a mild event.

Ogdammit, Kasich, you gotta stay in the race now! We want that convention riot!

Not VOTE???

Yeah, that’ll get their attention.

Are you 35 or over (or will be in January)? Are you a “natural-born” citizen? If you answered “yes” to both of these questions, write in your own name. That way, you can be sure that you are voting for someone you agree with.

I’m changing my name to “Nonov D. Aboff.”

Hypothetically.

If a safe falls on and squashes TRUMP later today, can Cruz step back in?[/QUOTE

Didn’t he only suspend his campaign?

If so, IIRC, he can still collect whatever money may still be coming in from whatever mythical supporters he still has, so I’d guess it’d be easy enough to “unsuspend” it and jump right back in.

The guy who’s most known for throwing fits and trying to shut down the government all the time? I don’t think keeping the ship afloat would even be one of his goals.

Kasich suspends campaign

I guess that’s it. No contested convention riots. Aw.

He looks like he’s wondering where the other half went.

I guess there is strong resignation/pressure behind the scenes to run with Trump.
The party above principles crowd wins.

Don’t panic, I have a plan! (It involves meth in the drinking water.)

Has anyone who’s ever suspended a campaign unsuspend it and continue to run later? And I don’t mean a fake suspension like McCain did, I mean a real “I don’t think I can win now so I’m suspending” kind of suspend

Gary Hart dropped out in 1988 and then got back in again; Ross Perot did the same thing in 1992. Did no good for either of them.

But…but…he was, like, all ordained and anointed and stuff. He was sure of it. His old man was sure. Even his wife was sure.

How could angels get it so wrong?
