“Always” by Bent

Amazingly I downloaded this song very recently after reading Craig Mathieson’s book The Sell In about the Australian indie scene in the 90’s. They featured very prominently in the early chapters of the book, and I was motivated to download the song. It’s pretty good.

I’m pretty sure they were on RooArt, a label who has just released a compilation of their artists. It would have a few Clouds songs on it at least, so if you can’t find anything else, have a look for that.

My song for the moment? I’d say either The Vines’ Miss Jackson, Bluebottle Kiss’ Gangsterland, Augie March’s Heartbeat and Sails or Jimmy Eat World’s No Sensitivity.

No One Knows /Queens of the Stone Age currently.

Sorry.

-this way-

i’m gonna have to go with a cover of dire straits’ “sultans of swing” by agents of good roots…

they use the lyrics from sultans of swing, and whenever they’re not singing, they’re playing the melody from “pharoah’s dance” off of bitches brew by miles davis… except for the guitar solo, which they rock and double with a saxaphone… it’s pretty bitchin’… y’all should check it out…
and yeah, coldplay is amazing… i’m still listening to ‘parachutes’ like three years and change after i bought it, and rush of blood is just as amazing…

Right now it’s a tie between “All For God and a Gun For All” by a little band called Thought Riot and “Guns & Diamonds” by The Transplants. It’s just a strange coincidence about the guns…

Pearl Jam-Bushleager
Pavement-Gold Sounds
Big Star-Ballad of El Goodo
guess I better stop…

And Presidents of the United States of America did the Buggles cover a looong time ago.

Walkmens’ Wake Up is another good song. Lately I’ve had this stuck in my head:

“We’re, uh, working on the cast play. ‘Put that thing back where it came from or so help me!’ It’s-it’s a musical.”

I’ve seen Monsters, Inc too many times.

I meant company play. Whoops.

Koeeoaddi There by The Incredible String Band

I couldn’t get it out of my head so I chose for my user name. At least now I know how to spell it.

They had some great stuff - I had a few of their singles on compilations, but was after some of the others.

If you liked Souleater, try Hieronymus, 4 pm, or Anthem. They also did a great cover version of Wichita Lineman.

“Volvo Driving Soccer Mom” by Everclear. The lyrics are ridiculous. Just the way I like them.

Another vote for Coldplay–

I’m currently hitting repeat on “A Rush of Blood to the Head,” but I’m not completely over “Clocks”–it’s the ringtone on my phone.
