Custom Licence Plates — Seen in the Wild

Cool, yeah, but the car wasn’t gray.

HABOOHaboob is a desert dust storm, word borrowed from the Arabic, but it was already taken. Other than that I got nuthin.

DRCONTI – Name, I’m guessing.

EEEYESS and E KLAS

I spotted a license plate EEEYESS on the front of an older Mercedes-Benz.

I thought it might be an E-class (they’ve been produced since the 1950s) so I pulled over, parked, and got out and walked behind it, but No, it was a 280 S.

But right next to it was next to another Mercedes-Benz with license plate E KLAS, and yes, that was an E 500.

:man_facepalming: Now why didn’t I see that possibility? Usually I’m the guy with the risque imagination. Anyhow, thanks for improving my day. Your way would be a much better plate.

I can confirm that Mom riding shotgun had her top on. Bottoms? No way to know; her SUV was taller than my car.

Sorry I wasn’t explicit enough. I meant that I took the larger meaning to be “I’m a Navy veteran; probably a retiree”. Same as if I saw BLU GLD.

Or maybe the plate matched the color of a prior car.

Perhaps they used to own a Benz [whatever number ES] and have kept the plate?

Maybe they’re a Frank Nelson fan.

Had SLOWRE poking along in front of me this morning. “Slower” must have already been taken.

Gotcha. Yeah, makes sense. He’s a squid.

Today, KLER 4X4 on a Jeep. For Killer.

So you’re saying your person was slow on the uptake to get their plate?

PJC 4EVR

Okay

I just saw it again and it’s on a Toyota 4Runner. Not a Jeep.

FTWESCO on a Mustang 5.0

BEEASTN on a Dodge Charger

YOUSOUR on a bright yellow Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

And

03JAN08 — maybe the wife got this for hubby so he won’t forget their anniversary date?

Or, conversely, the date the divorce was finalized?

That date could be the birthday of a 18yo driver. Yikes! If the car is 1-2 years old it might’ve been a birthday present when they got their license.

URI 99. Yet another name.

In today’s US Navy Haze Gray is the term I’ve heard used used; I’ve never heard of Ghost Gray but I don’t claim to know everything. During WWII there were a lot of different camouflage patterns involving different shades of gray and blue. Perhaps it was one of those colors.

My mother was in San Diego in 1942 when reinforcements from the Atlantic fleet arrived to pad out the somewhat depleted Pacific fleet. She commented they looked different and I’m guessing they were painted in colors and patterns more suited for the Atlantic.

Chevy Tahoe with a first responder plate: HTAOCTA Not a clue.

AIYWEY. Perhaps an AI dev engineer, combined with a name.

Be Nice To ME

4 SVEN. Yet another name.

SPURS 21. A Tim Duncan fan. Half of the Twin Towers, with David Robinson “The Admiral” and US Navy veteran.

YF ZHANG on a white Boxster. What’s with all the names? Maybe they’ve always been there and I just hadn’t been paying much attention.
