GO DINK on a gray Range Rover
it’s easy to spot them on my motorcycle, then pull over to quickly note them here.
But, GO DINK? No idea.

Back in the '80s and '90s, DINK was a common acronym for “Double (or Dual) Income, No Kids.”
Yeah maybe; probably.
UX NERD — that one made me laugh. UX devs sometimes have some, ahh, interesting ideas.
Okay… the rest of my list for today:
XBIHLAX. ??? LAX could be the LA airport. Or, lax.
RNNR 4US on a, of course, a Toyota 4Runner
2PRSS ON. Keep pressing on…
IB52U ???
URDAWG, on a Honda Accord
DS 90 on a Rivian R1T
NM8 U8M — on a Jeep with Missouri plates. No mate, you ate him? A wild guess.
DACHSHD — and on the back of the car was a sticker with the silhouette of a dachshund.
L8 — just that, only the 2 characters. Always tardy?
ATRL FIB — at a hospital; must be a cardiologist or someone in a cardiology department.
Finally, there were three more from last night.
Y WOMAN, with an image of a hand.
A BMW i8, not a common car, with OMIZZLE.
And lastly,
4 PUDLS on a lifted Jeep Wrangler, up on 35s. He must like puddles, and maybe he has another rig with 4 MUDD, 4 DIRT, or 4 ROCKS.
Me, personally, I’ve considered having a play on overlanding such as OVERLND or OVRLAND. In the end I went with something else.
I wanted something a bit obscure — mine is M151 OBW , on my Subaru Outback Wilderness Edition. The OBW is shorthand for Outback Wilderness, and the M151 is for the old military Jeeps. My years of service was 1980-1993. Before the Hummvees came out in the late 1980s we had the old surplus WWII Jeeps. That was the first military vehicle I ever drove, and I like those old Jeeps. I take my OBW out on the trails and drive that little wagon like it’s a Jeep.
The OBW is, surprisingly, quite capable. I’ve done things in my OBW that I didn’t even try on my last vehicle, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the diesel engine. There was one particular challenging hill that I never tried in that Jeep that I successfully tackled in the OBW, but that was due to my lack of experience.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! ![]()
Great plate choice there @Bullitt. Bravo!
FWIW, the M151 ¼-ton 4×4 utility truck - Wikipedia is in no way a WWII Jeep. It’s not even a Korean era Jeep Mark II. Totally different vehicle stem to stern. But broadly similar looking, unlike the subsequent HMMWV or interim CUCV.
I had my M151 during my 3-year stint playing with the Army in the mid '80s. Good vehicles when new, but ours were all rusting out, and the ones they shipped us from the desert to replace them were not much better.
Today I say OS4LIFE on a FL patriotic “United we stand” plate on a white Tesla Model 3. No other distinguishing markings.
I’m not thinking the “4 life” is a stance on abortion. I’m thinking it’s “permanently” or “forever”. As to OS? No clue. But whatever it is, that person is dedicated to it. For life.
Yeah, I know, I know…
Alright, I’ll call them ‘the old Jeeps’.
I spotted the Illinois plate MAH JONG on a fairly new Hyundai Elantra the other day.
RLQUIKK on a completely stock Nissan Sentra. Having driven a Sentra rental car before, I can say for certain that they’re not actually real quick.
Maybe the second K is for “(just) kidding”. ![]()
Lotta rental cars have the small engine and any configuration settings locked to “slow & safe” mode.
Private cars of the same base model might be equipped & configured more powerfully.
Now that engines are computerized, you can buy hop-up kits for many cars that provide 10-15% extra horsepower and leave the car looking & sounding totally stock until the driver stomps the gas.
Maybe your Sentra driver did that.
SUKRAAN. “Suqraan" (more commonly spelled Shukran - شكراً) is an Arabic word meaning “thank you”.
CYPHER, not out of place at a software company.
XYS R US = Boys Я Us
Saw BUBLS UP on a small white SUV with “Peace Frog” stickers on it.
Tonight:
D POP on a Hyundai Tuscon. It also had a bumper sticker that just read “FREEDOM” in all caps.
And I’m not 100% sure about this one as it was traveling past me in the opposite direction and I only got the briefest look at it, but I think it read DOODDIT. Which to me is just a funny sound. It was on a Toyota Tacoma in an interesting shade of lime green.
XYS R US = XYs R Us = Boys Я Us
NTENSE 1 on a pickup truck.
Final one, late last night:
THE DEBT, on a Porsche 911 C4S — perfect!
