I’d guess “Tin Lizzie,” which is old slang for a car (often applied to Model T Fords), and which inspired the name of the band Thin Lizzy. Might also be owned by a driver named Liz/Lizzie.
Any idea what X84 means?
Any idea what SMEAGOL means? Besides a losing hand at Scrabble?
Not a clue. But it was definitely unusual, not just somebody’s initials, so I snapped the pic. Even more interesting, it taught me that dashes are allowed in a plate number in VA.
Smeagol is the original in-universe name of Gollum from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
In the books (and the movies), Tolkien established that Gollum was originally a hobbit-like being (a Stoor) named Smeagol. Centuries of owning the One Ring (which he gained through murdering his cousin) corrupted him, and distorted his body, as well as making him crazy; he winds up with a split personality: the mild-mannered Smeagol, and the ruthless, deceptive Gollum.

Amongst Subaru owners, “Subie” is a pretty standard nick-term for the brand. e.g. “My new Subie handles great!”. So good bet somebody had already snagged “Subie” in your state. So then come all the alternate spellings.
Or, as you suggest, the owner is some variation on “Susan”.
Subie is pretty standard, I’ve owned several. I’ve never seen Suebie, so I assume it is name based.
