Custom Licence Plates — Seen in the Wild

Personally I would rather have BOBS␣4301 than JPS␣BNZ2. Of course for efficiency and dependability a CIVIC-53 would be best. And if I wanted to get in shape I would BIKE␣60 kilometers a week (maybe I could do miles, but I am lazy).

RIP␣LOVE is not something I think someone who is :heart:RMNTIC would say. W3WON1 is something that Spanish fans could say up until this last world cup, and I am sure a lot of people are saying AC␣4EVER after this summer. And when I asked a Spinal Tap member if he ever used any other volumes on his amplifier, he said ONLY␣11.

Just a couple for me recently.

  • MMLUV on a FL 5-character Disney World booster plate on a family van. Yeah, they (she?) luvs her a meese to piece.

  • AMED21 on a FL standard plate but with personalized spacing on a generic sedan. The driver was a woman who looked plausibly Middle Eastern. A name I suppose.

And she can drink … or can she?

If that’s a reference to my post and the Middle Eastern lady, she looked 30-something to me. I don’t think of Ahmed as a woman’s name though. Maybe it’s really standing for Amy D and she got the plate (or car) when she turned 21.

Clocked up another one this afternoon:

  • JAZZYC on a FL standard plate on a ~10yo Toyota RAV4. It also had a well-aged window sticker for Jazzercise. I bet the owner was either a fan or an instructor.

This weekend, on a long drive

GAS-RIP

on a Tesla, evidently heralding the end of gasoline

PLANT-MD
Plant doctor, I guess

CHRIST

Megalomania, maybe.

I’m surprised they passed this one.

My name is Christopher Thompson and I have this problem w my name you see.

Seen on a standard Wisconsin plate today: PING MAN, on an SUV with a golfing decal on the rear window, and a golf-themed license plate frame.

I would surmise that he either really likes Ping golf clubs, or he works for Ping.

On an older, white Honda Accord: 4CBWTYU. I had to think about it for a minute before I realized the owner is a Star Wars fan.

GERMNSHP on a sedan that was not a German ship. False advertising. It may have been a Germncr, didn’t notice the make and model though.

CHUFFED on a smallish grey SUV. I’m assuming the owner is happy about something.

I saw a couple today.

  • NO⎵PLAID on a dark gray Model Y. Indeed it had no plaid logo on it.

The other one is more fun.

I came upon a fancy black pickup truck. Luxo, not redneck. The tailgate, both sides, and the back window have advertisments for RonOvation Roofing, www.ronovation.ca, and a phone number with an area code I’ve never seen.

Apparently Ron is doing very nicely with his biz. He can afford a nice truck and to spend time here in SoFL while somebody else is installing the roofs up in Canada. His plate you ask? An Ontario standard plate that says ROO4ING.

When I got home I checked his url and it appears that website is dead. Oops.

So maybe he’s slunk off to FL with his winnings to lie low and live off his gains. Or he’s hiding here from his creditors. Either way, sooo Florida.

On a nondescript SUV in the supermarket parking lot:

GRL MUM

I wonder if the girls father has GRL DAD on his vehicle?

If you are near the Potomac I hear it is nice to BOATDC1. Me I was worried that LIL␣BO4T knew something I didn’t. It was starting to rain so there could have been flooding and maybe I should make it home were at least I would not be ROOF-LES. It did rain a bit, but not enough that ended up having to SW1M.

Not dead for me.

Huh. Still dead for me. I’m on weird borrowed internet now so ???

NOTAM3 on a black BMW 3-series. It should be NOTANM3 but we only have 6 characters in MA.

A ha. I finally had time to look at this website again. My adblocker had blocked in completely. Once I disabled that, I saw the site was just a parking site / link farm for somebody selling domain names.

Which suggests the real operator of the website has shut it down and opportunists are now squatting there.

Now I think I’m getting what you get. When I first looked and reported it was working for me, it appeared to be a legit renovation company site. I only briefly looked at it without retaining much about it. I didn’t explore it in detail or think to make a screenshot at the time.

F22RPTR, I WAGing he’s an F22 Raptor pilot.
5UBR3W, on a Subaru

You’d think after 20 or so increasingly tortured attempts to find a combo not yet taken, the owner might think “Hmmm, maybe I’m not being particularly original here.”
