Which reminds me. I saw another one here recently. A Toyota Tundra pickup. Lotta decals advertising all and sundry; this person likes festooning their car.
The plate was a standard FL plate reading STLRS⎵R1. The frame was from a local Toyota dealership, so no clue there.
One thought is “Pittsburgh Steelers are number 1”. But there were no other Steeler decals, or colors, or anything. IME Steeler fans only come in one kind: waaay over da top! Dis was not dat.
My hometown is a small town in Upstate New York, near the Tri-City area of Albany, Schenectady, and Troy (and we have another Doper here who currently lives in Schenectady). I grew up in Latham NY, because my dad was a professor at a small engineering school in Troy: RPI, or Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. RPI is known academically for engineering. Lots of geeks go to school there.
Interesting. It’s also for sports stat nerds: Rating Percentage Index. That’s what a web search on rpi turned up. Raspberry Pi didn’t come up but it’s probably buried somewhere in the search results.
Maybe the guy is a sports stat geek.
It’s funny how our own personal biases will, umm, bias what we observe.
I must confess that until your post, I had never heard of the Manual Gearbox Preservation Society. I checked out their website, and I am impressed with their mission!
