Custom Licence Plates — Seen in the Wild

Saw a Jeep Wrangler w a few offroad mods. The MO plate read BFREBU.

Huh??

“Be free, be you” is my guess.

On a Tesla tonight, NOTGASY

Fiat 124 Spider (the Fiata) with an eponymous plate:

Saw 3 today

  • TTMONEY on a Maybach SUV. That guy is real proud of his wallet.
  • GREICY on a bright yellow Mercedes coupe. Someone’s name I assume.
  • LIV⎵BIG on a Genesis sedan. Now that’s a sentiment I could get behind.

Or a fan of Avatar: The last Airbender, that being the command to get Appa going.

More driving, more seeing …

  • WAT⎵NOW on a dirty white family wagon.

FIGR SK8 in the parking garage. I don’t know if any of my co-workers are figure skaters…

I imagine if you use the FLOO␣N3T you are not likely to be L8␣4␣D8. If you are, late though, you may receive an UPPERCT from the person who was waiting for you. As long as it is not from GODZ1LA, you may survive the encounter.

I have recently watched Harry Potter which is why I understand FLOO␣N3T to be a reference to the floo network which is a way that people in that universe can travel through magical means.

EMONEY on a glammed up Civic.

Just saw a Tesla with plates RIP OPEC

Saw a Polestar with TWIKI. Which might be Elmer Fudd for “tricky”, or a cute name or …

Relevant to the post just above they had a promotional license plate frame. The larger bottom words said “ChargePoint” with part of their logo. The fun part was the top which read “EV Drivers kick gas”. Not bad for corporate humor. I’d have preferred “EV Drivers pass gas” though.

Or a reference to the little robot from the late '70s TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Bonus points if the Polestar’s horn sounds like Mel Blanc saying “BEEEDEEE BEEEDEEE BEEDEEE.”

Followed INDIGO partway home today… it was indeed on an indigo-blue small SUV.

I immediately recognized both characters & costumes in your still and might have recovered the name of the show or lead character from what’s left of my kid-teen memory eventually. The robot’s name? Never. Or connected the name to the show? Never. But great suggestion.

2 more today:

  • DVLAW on a snazzy Mercedes with a local university booster plate. Presumably a lawyer who represents disabled veterans. Or the soon to be divorced. Probably more money in the latter. She did look like a very well-paid woman.
  • 4HUGZ on an SUV with the pet-lover’s booster plate. The lady driving looked more like a dog person than a cat rancher. But you never know.

SALSA1 - dance or condiment?

OTOH, a Model S with ELON RKS.

No stickers, plate frames, or other paraphernalia to indicate what sort of rocks the owner means.

Or maybe Elon Reeks?

I’ve had to go into the office a few times this week which means braving the nightmare detour. But at least I’ve seen some amusing plates. Today it was PAWWLA. Not sure if it was supposed to be a play on “Paula”, I couldn’t see the driver. Lilo and Stitch license plate frame too.

I scored 2 today:

  • ELLIV which is probably “Ellie V” but might be “alive”.
  • NUNQOM which might be re-spelled Latin “nunquam” = English “never”. There was no other evidence about what they might be nevering about.
