Cyberpunk 2077 release discussion

Well, quasi-secret. If you say the right things to Johnny earlier in the game, then you can assault Arasaka headquarters by yourself (not using help from Hanako or the nomads or Rogue).

I played on PC last March. Glitchy, but I had fun and made it to the end.

Did this game ever get fixed on base-PS4? Can PS4 original owners play this game through normally now?

@DPRK mentioned in passing in the thread on the Netflix animated series that there was an update for the game (with 3 new gigs, some new weapons and some other stuff) so I took the opportunity to play it again and I managed to get the secret “one man assault on Arasaka” ending (with the help of my friend Google).

This time I avoided quickhacking enemies completely (aside from cameras and turrets and the occasional Ping) which I found made the game a bit harder and made being stealthy MUCH harder. I also used the Monowire for the first time and it kicked butt, although I kept killing innocent civilians by accident. Out of the new weapons, the only memorable one for me was the tech SMG; if I could have found a crafting schematic for it, I probably would have used it all the time. Instead I settled for my trusty Quasar as usual. The new gigs were pretty cool.

The assault on Arasaka was pretty challenging; I failed it on the first attempt. Oddly enough, the boss fight with Adam Smasher was probably the easiest part of the whole mission; his weapon really didn’t seem to do much damage compared to the guards and mechs I had to fight through.

I have heard the game is mostly fixed on PC and PS5 at this point. They are also releasing a new storyline DLC soon. I hope it is free just to make up for what a mess the game was in the beginning. I played it in March of 2021 on PC and I got through the game fine, but I did witness a large amount of glitches.

I don’t think they ever really fully fixed the base-PS4 game, though. I think people can play it through to the end, but it is a bit of a mess.

I play it on PC. There are still some bugs like an NPC not talking in a phone call at a certain point (why so shy River?) or the Sandevistan implant deciding not to work until you save and reload. Stuff that has been broken since release and never fixed.

But they’re minor and rare, and don’t make the game unplayable or anything.

I’m really enjoying the game. It’s probably one of my favorites of all time now.

Indeed, it turns out that patch just had the 3 new gigs (I had fun with them, even though it was only a little bit of new content) and that the big DLC will supposedly be released next year (maybe not for the base PS4 though, if anyone was counting on that).

I always liked the game, and so did a friend who played it just recently. I also finally got around to watching that Netflix animated series, and while it was not especially spectacular, it fit right in with the cyberpunk theme of the game (nearly everybody gets killed, including the kid with the bright future who ends up going cyberpsycho and getting terminated by Adam Smasher) as did the short story (the protagonist’s friend, a self-made woman with a decent career now, gets killed in a gang shootout… ultimately it turns out she and a bunch of other people were simply murdered by corrupt NCPD cops and there is absolutely nothing he can do about it)

While not related at all to the game I recently re-watched “Altered Carbon” which I thought was well done cyberpunk. It did make me want to play Cyberpunk again though. YMMV

I am waiting for the DLC to drop to revisit the game. While I think those of us who bought the game in the beginning and suffered through the pain of them getting the game into shape should get it for free I am almost positive the DLC is not free.

One other thing I noticed: is it just me, or did they tone down some of the nudity in the game? In particular, I remember seeing a video ad for MILFguard (featuring a topless woman) pretty frequently, but I don’t think I saw it once in my recent replay (just a billboard with stars over a woman’s nipples). Likewise, I remember in the sex scene with River Ward there used to be a bit where they had sex in front of a mirror (so you could see V’s body) but it seemed like they changed it to sex in front of a mirror (with no reflection).

Am I misremembering things?

Is the nudity censor option turned off in your settings? There is an option for that.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. One of the in-game ads features a woman with a really prominent crotch bulge that drew a lot of controversy at the time. When I played as launch, I remember the ad showing up all over the place in the game. Now, it’s still in there, but it’s not nearly as prevalent as I remember. But I’m not sure if that’s an actual change, or just me misremembering.

One of the more explicit things I remember were sex shops filled with toys. Are those still around?

Yes. There’s one pretty early on in the main quest that you have to go to when tracking down an illegal brain dance recording studio.

That’s what seemed strange to me – the game had no qualms with showing a nude Judy Alvarez or a nude V on the inventory screen.

Maybe someone’s giving my mind the Jefferson Peralez treatment.

I keep thinking, any soul too sensitive for gratuitous and tasteless nudity in ads and the like is not likely to last long in Night City.

Sir John Phallustiff is still one of my favourite melee weapons in the game.

I got one in my “stash”.

One of my favourite gags in the game is how, if you drive around in Delamain’s cab, he’ll talk to V about how he’s studying human nature and he asks what “love” is. After a few drives, he says he’ll stop bothering V with questions about love after reading the book The Remains of the Day.

Cyberpunk 2077 is 50% off right now. Would you say it’s worth buying in its current state?

It’s awesome. I finally beat it a week ago. It’s one of my favorite games of all time.

I played it on PC and it’s pretty polished at this point. There are bugs but they are “quirky” or annoying, nothing that makes the game unplayable or broken. I think the worst bugs I’ve dealt with recently were one that cuts out half of a conversation with an NPC (you have a phone call with them and don’t hear their end), but it’s fluff, not mission-related. The other one is a bug that prevents the Sandevistan cybermod from working every once in a rare while; you just quicksave and reload to fix it. Again, just annoying.

The graphics, gameplay, and writing are all fantastic in my opinion.

I paid $37 for it back when it was relatively new(March 2021) and it was buggy like crazy. However, I made it all the way through and had no catastrophic crashes(I reloaded a few times due to bugs).

Even in that state, it was $37 well spent. I don’t love it as much as @Atamasama , but it is a pretty good game. Side-quests were more gripping than the main story, which I don’t see as a weakness. Definitely wander, take cell calls for missions, and just kind of meander through the main story.

Totally worth a sale purchase. I can critique it endlessly, but it is fun. I pine for what it might have been, but it is fun and a cool enough game.
