What subclass of Bard are you? I didn’t see that.
Impressive build, so many cantrips and spells.
On the spells, what do the D & R superscripts indicate?

I’m a bard of the College of Lore. At third levelI became proficient in three skills. My choices were Acrobatics, Stealth and Persuasion.
D indicates that it is a clerical Domain spell.
R indicates a ritual.
Half my Wizard spellbook (Comprehend Languages, Detect Magic and Tenser’s Floating Disk) are rituals.
The latter is the “invisible carriage” I referred to Princess Gilraen riding when she was young.
Excellent, thank you. I like the Tenser’s Floating Disk bit.
Were you aware that in the prior game, Gilraen referred to Merry & Pippin as Uncles? If not, that fit really nicely.
Jesus, I was just looking at some numbers and, with Gilraen’s prayer and my Great Weapon Master manouvers… I could deal a really astonishing amount of damage in a single turn.
I can handle myself in a fight, either with my rapier or spells to wound and / or defend. I also possess healing spells.
I also know spells of divination to learn about enchanted items and read languages no-one else can.
I have a wide knowledge base, and even where I have no formal training, I’ve picked up a little about a lot. (Jack of All Trades means I get half my proficiency bonus on ability checks where I don’t otherwise add my proficiency bonus.)
Just to clarify, the Estë Prayer song adds a d4 to hit, not damage, but yes it is a big help to hit with Great Weapon Master to counter the -5 to hit. Used with Menacing Maneuver the damage is frightful. Plus you have several ways to get extra attack including once per short rest, all the fighters can take their Action Surge for an additional action which would mean 2 extra attacks.
Healing: This party has so much healing now, that you just have to avoid getting killed.
And as a bonus Thoroncir is an Inspiring Leader : Spend 10 minutes inspiring companions, give temp Hit Points of your level + Charisma Bonus (8 temp hit points). So everyone would have an extra 8 HP to burn through before taking actual damage. Please remember to use this, it is one of the nicest support feats.
Yes, thanks, WE, I’ll try to remember.
Will the Dwarves in our party know where galvorn is most likely to be found and recognize it when they see it, or will someone else?
It was a group effort tracking down the closest source. We have 2 historian types (Hejren & Felareth) and 2 Dwarves along along with Miregol & Gilraen. I’m think Ghân could contribute a bit too, talking to the birds especially. There are a lot of birds that visit the Havens often. Some know the mountains well and about where the trolls are.
As to recognition. I do think Gwaelur the Armourer and Bitur the Engineer and Battlesmith will know it when they see it even though it will be new to them. With Aid & a help action Bitur is almost guaranteed to be able to verify it with an Investigation check.
Seems like I should probably start almost every turn with a menacing attack and follow it up with an Action Surge that includes my Great Weapons Master attack feat and probably precision attack maneuver, and if the Este Prayer song and Inspiring Leader are both going we should be able to hit very hard and fast.
Sound like a reasonable plan of attack (no pun intended)?
Looks like a good plan, though that is when the battle starts in melee range of course. I would hold your Maneuvers & Action surge if the battle starts at missile range. You just do so much more up close and personal.
I was thinking menacing attack is still probably a good idea if things start at a distance as putting a monster into a frightened condition is probably helpful to everyone.
Question about that though, while frightened a monster can’t come any closer to me, can I charge at them?
A quick look at an online SRD says you can. The Frightened creature “can’t willingly move closer to the source of its fear.”
I use http://www.d20srd.org/
Thanks. I’m still getting a handle on how this all works.
In the previous version it was just point/shoot /swing/smash. The extra options are fun but complicated.
I may have mentioned that my group started in 1979.
41 years later there are only 3 players still going (two of us original) … and we still play 1st Edition.
I’m still playing with a group that I joined in 1982 (which had started a couple of yeras before I joined); counting myself, there are currently four of us still in the group from that time. We’ve had a lot of folks come and go over the years, and we’re currently at 7 total.
We were playing 1E AD&D back then, and we’ve tracked along with edition changes; we had characters which we had been playing in 1E, which we translated to 2E, then 3E/3.5. We finally gave up on re-imagining those old characters when we started playing 4E (and, honestly, they were all level 20+ at that point, and fairly ridiculous, anyway ).
There is one non-canon recurring NPC in my Middle Earth worlds that dates back to 1980. There are a lot of NPCs from the early 80s forward. I still have one player from our 1977 D&D group. I didn’t start DM’ing until 1978 though. I believe my first Middle Earth Game was 1980.
Some impressive experience here! I started playing around 1982 in a group DM’d by a junior-high friend of mine, but before WE’s LOTR campaign first began, it had been many years since I’d last played.
We’re close to completing the final character. Some of you have mounts and some don’t.
The ones I’m sure of,
Gwaelur 2 Sturdy Mountain Ponies ideal for this mission.
Bitur should probably have the same to carry all of his stuff.
Ghân-buri-Ghân has Palafax, a fast & smart horse I have to convert to 5e, oops. Also has Windwing the huge Golden Eagle & Fang the Wolf & Anca the War Dog
Ceol has Leofwin, a mighty horse of Rohan.
Hejren has a riding horse.
Felareth Took could easily get a ride.
Sir Thoroncir has Baygir a Cavalry Horse
Gilraen has Kali a fine Silver Grey Mare of exception stock. Her lines trace back to Shadowfax and Missy A Smart, Lórien Cat
The Took can always ride on one of my ponies.
