D&D setup thread – game 2 (Mediaeval English background)

Hey, the first weekend of my move has passed! Only one more week until I am moved in.

Aciryas has a bit of a self esteem issue at the moment due do his treatment at the hands of the High Priestess (she has no faith in him, and it has shaken his faith in himself.) So he probably wouldn’t talk to much to start anyway unless he knows someone well.

I am hoping he gains some confidence as the story progresses with the help of Slazar and Crumlin. (Crumlin is the only reason he has any confidence at all at this point.)

So…that is my in character explination of why Aciryas is mostly standing around looking at things and not saying much, or reacting to things that happened a little while back.

That’s all fine and fits into the story perfectly. I hope you enjoy playing your Cleric!

Me too! He is so very different from Gwaelur that I think it will be a lot of fun. Nothing against Gwaelur, he is a fine Dwarf, and I have some plans for him character-wise that should be interesting (as soon as I flesh them out I will PM you What Exit?, don’t worry) but Aciryas is his polar opposite in many ways and I think I will be able to do some very different things. It should be a lot of fun.

I hope your move is going well.

In the game thread, I’ve offered you (and a couple of others) a reserve to play Aciryas. No pressure, but if it would help you out…

Have you considered mentioning this to Clever Hans? Gnomes are reputed to be miners of renown…

Oh dear. :o
In case this wasn’t clear, I meant a temporary reserve!

As soon as I really meet you. You keep confusing me by being in two places at once.

[Cue Lone Ranger music ] Who was that masked gnome?! Heigh-ho, Bill and away!

This weekend is my big move, and I won’t have time to post or even have computer access until Monday.

If it’s necessary I am more than happy to have my character taken over by someone until monday.

This post is shorter and less witty that the one in the middle earth thread, but I used up all my time composing that one and now I have to go.

See ya!

No worries - I’ll look after Aciryas for you.
May all your boxes arrive in the right room!

Following an interesting interaction between Clever Hans and Sir Guy Gisbourne, we take you now to a peaceful domestic scene…

Gisbourne household, evening.

Lady Gisbourne: Why thank you dear - you’re banking up the fire with extra wood.

Sir Guy (poking the fire vigorously) Yes, dear. (He visualises a gnome having his toes held in the fire, and pokes harder…)

Lady Gisbourne: Why thank you dear - you’re putting up the new curtains.

Sir Guy (straining on a rope) Yes, dear. (He visualises a gnome on the rack, and pulls harder…)

Lady Gisbourne: Why thank you dear - you’re carving the meat.

Sir Guy (slicing bacon) Yes, dear. (He visualises a gnome with an apple stuffed in his mouth, and cuts harder…)

Help! Help! I’m being oppressed!

I’m sorry, guys… For the moment, time is not my own, so whilst I have been enjoying the game thus-far (especially the gnome sing-along), I’m going to have to bow out. Luckilly, Salazar should be somewhat easy to replace this early in the game. I’ll still lurk and read, and I wish you all well.

OK, thanks for playing!

Players - please can you let me know (a post in here is fine) if you want a replacement, or just let Salazar depart?

N.B. I can easily balance the dungeon with fewer PCs, and you don’t have to have an MU.

No mage sounds tough, perhaps we should see if someone wants to join in as one and they can meet up with us after their character is ready?

Wait, my one friend in this world is leaving! That is going to be a blow to my character’s ego. :frowning: At least I still have good ol’ Crumlin.

FWIW I think it would be good to get a replacement MU.

Hey, my internet at home isn’t working properly still so I won’t be around much this weekend again. I think we are still mostly waiting on a replacement for Salazar so that shouldn’t be too much of a problem, but if my character is necessary to advance the plot feel free to play him in my absense. I think I am playing him fairly transperantly as a bit dull, but eager with very low self esteem. So use that to guide your choices if you need to.

Having read the thread… and the character bios and stuff… I’m now all caught up and ready to step in. If I could be sure where I am, and umm… whether I’m eating.

I assume you would like to be Salazar*.
Please let me know if you need any more information!

The last thing posted for Salazar said he was following the party to ‘The Old Plough’.
Let me state that he has been quietly* following everything said and done since then, and has now joined Gawain, Alan A’Dale, Marian, Cadogan, Cullen, Aciryas and Crumlin in the private room … where he is nibbling on the free food.
(Salazar realises that Crumlin has used the Continual Light pebble to block any Scrying by Crystal Ball.)
*Salazar has loaded today:

  • @ 1st level Charm Person, Magic Missile, Unseen Servant
  • @2nd level Invisibility x 2

**in his apparently ‘absent-minded’ way…

I’d like a check on the contents of his spellbook. It lists only three second level spells and four first - none of which are Charm Person.

What does he know apart from those listed?

Personally I would not bother with loading a Charm Person at this point. I’ll keep it today but modify the list tomorrow.

ETA : Yes, I’m playing Salazar thanks.
