Da Hitchin' MMP

Surprisingly no. I drank a bunch of water before I went to bed and I am currently drinking coffee while mr ems snoozes. poor baby is tired. I am however starving.

phouka why yes you do have a lot going on.

Hooray for sleeping in! **FCD **is still abed, but I got enough rest, so yay!

Today will be our running around and do errands day because tomorrow is supposed to be crappy, weather-wise. We’ve got to check on the boat and settle up our slip rental bill with the marina, among other things.

I started an afghan last night - the pattern I created that goes really fast - so far, I’ve crocheted just over a food - good start. I’ve also got 3 hat/scarf sets and the afghan I started on the cruise. All of these will be sent or taken to my mom as soon as I get this latest afghan done. I bought more yarn for a couple of afghans I want to try - I need to quit buying the stuff and use up what I have already. Seriously, I’ve got a *lot *of yarn.

Nothing else exciting. We’ll see what the weather brings. As long as the power doesn’t go out, I’m good.

**Kanga **- yanno, some day you’ll look back on all of this stuff and laugh, right? I sure hope so - that’s how I talk myself thru life’s little upheavals. That, and bitching here.

Happy Saturday!

Back when it was still me and GilaMonster and ChickenLady running the kitchen together one of us (I believe it was ChickenLady) coined this term. A certain brand of chili that I buy from Sam’s club has, well, a wad of beans in it when you open up the can. It’s really quite disgusting looking. You have to break up the beanwad with a spoon or spatula when putting them into a pan. And, yes, beanwad did become a sort of creative insult at times. I’d also like to say that canned chili is not my thing. If I was going to serve chili as a meal I’d make it from scratch. This chili, though, is to be used as a topping for baked potatoes so I don’t feel quite as bad using it and also there’s no way that I could pass along the cost of homemade chili to my clients when it wasn’t the main attraction.

I don’t know what it is that my mother does differently when she’s leaving for work on Saturday mornings, but it honestly sounds like a marching band going down the hallway and about to enter my room at about 3:30 a.m. Scares me half to death. Fortunately I managed to get a bit more sleep after that. Now I just need to finish my analysis of a picture book which is due later today. I’ll get right on that if someone can tell me how a picture book about Grasslands can contribute to a child’s personal development. :dubious:

Had insomnia last night. Finally feel asleep around 1 and woke up at 5. The only thing I have to do today is get my hair cut. After that I think I will lounge around the house. I saw Bob teh Wonder Pony yesterday so he will be fine until tomorrow. Oh, and I reseved the DVD Bridesmaids at the library. Maybe I’ll feel better if I laugh.
Now I need more caffiene. I’ll hold off on brekkie for a bit cause OYKW is still abed and as everyone knows the smell of fryin’ bacon (while fully clothed thankyouverymuch) is a wake up call like no otoher. He needs his sleep poor thing.
For me today, the first wake up call was DH poking me and saying it’s my turn in response to the demon doggie whining and trying to escape the crate. Without fail, that dog wants to get up at 7 AM, regardless of what the humans want to do. Stumble downstairs and let the beasts out. After they’re done inspecting to ensure the back yard is still there, I go back to bed.

Next wake-up call is the smell of fried potatos. Much more agreeable!

I’m not looking forward to next Friday. That’s pre-move day and it promises to be manic. We get the keys at 9 AM, then we’ll run as much small stuff to the house as we can before the furniture company calls to say when they will deliver (and lug upstairs!) the new bedroom furniture*, then at 1 PM, both the alarm system and U-verse installers are expected. I think at best, I’ll be able to have the phone switch powered up and sitting on the garage floor near its eventual permanent location.

 • Hopefully our friends will appreciate that we’ve already gotten rid of three dressers, two night stands and a bed frame, and that they won’t have to touch the new ones.

Blurf.
(warning: whinging pom post ahead)

Still stuck immobile, and broken.

All this doin’ nothing is messing with my sleep patterns. I didn’t get to sleep last night until 11 this morning. At which point I fall asleep for all of two hours. For the second or third day in a row. I don’t understand either…

Had a birfday on thursday, and it was probably the worst day painwise I’ve had; the painkillers seemed to do nothin’ except prevent me from boozin’, and I wound up with no appetite at all (I normally eat like it’s going out o’ fashion)- though at least now I’m older it seems more reasonable.

The worst of it all though is I’ve run out of David Attenborough to watch!
I’m splashin’ out some bufdy money on some new dvds (and a pop-up book, it’s impossible to feel miserable with a pop-up book)- anyone got any suggestions for awesome series or films? I know that’s awfully broad.

Due to being brought up under a rock, I have a truly shocking lack of classic film knowledge, and maybe this is the time to remedy that.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Ps. Babbies is very cute; well done LiLi!

Happy Birthday, Filbert (whose nickname I do not remember)! :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, there’s always Downton Abbey, Mad Men, and Midsomer Murders. Those take up quite a bit of time.

Hooray for me finishing my paper. It was quite a stretch, but I got it together.

Now I’m off to run some errands and the off for some fun later today.
See ya!

I’m always the that’s wrong, even if it’s only because SOMEONE doesn’t listen to what I say.

Just sayin’

CatDude, I sense a story behind your statement…

Our boat is still floating and there was hardly any water in the bilge, so huzzah for that. And the money lady was in the office, so I was able to settle our slip bill, so huzzah for that also. I’m thinking today might be play-with-clay-day. It’s been a while since I got my hands really goopy.

Beeyooteefull weather here, ahead of the threat of snow tomorrow night. Then by Tuesday, it’ll be beeyooteefull again. I guess I can tolerate a couple of nasty days.

I think this is the ice cream recipe that step-MiL was telling me about. No churning, no ice cream freezer necessary. And easy enough that i might actually make it sometime soon.

I’ve got a pot of chili on, and am debating between doing chores after I nurse Elizabeth, and lying around.

LiLi - My recipe doesn’t call for frozen or canned but once the prep is done, it’s dead easy and freezes (and thaws) very well.

Buy whatever veggies you like.

Prep them (wash, peel, slice, bake if necessary).

Put them in a pot with some kind of broth (I used low sodium chicken broth).
Cook until soup is done.

When soup is cool enough to work with, divide into 1 gallon freezer bags and lay flat in the freezer.

Once frozen, they take up very little space because they’re flat and they thaw really fast.

Lots of veggies, low sodium, nice and hot for a cold Canada night.
I just made it recently with taters, onions, green red and yellow peppers, turnips, beets, carrots, celery, and the low sodium chicken broth. I think the prep time took me about 15 minutes (except for the beets, which I baked first). I washed, peeled and chopped the turnips first so they could boil (to get the bitterness out) while I did the rest of the prepping.

So, it’s late but…

The rain has started. Da bear has had a beerverage. Methinks snuggle/nappy time shall happen shortly.

See, and this place is validating too!

This morning, I have already had breakfast, taken the dog to Petco for a new harness (the old one disappeared during the great Bro Move In), gotten $$$ out, and taken the dog to the park for fetching.

In a few minutes, I leave to drop off/pick up dry cleaning, and take Bro’s laptop to Official Computer Guy for work. I am also buying a computer for $75 to use as a server (learning Ubuntu, might as well tackle server stuff). Then, I get to start moving more stuff out of my room.

I am supposed to have dibs on the library at this point (the library is maybe 10x10, it used to be a courtyard but was roofed over and given a proper floor sometime before the parents bought the house, the walls are concrete and impossible to drive a nail into, and Dad made the shelves for all the books), but to have any room, I’m going to have to do a major re-org, probably get another desk, get rid of/store a bunch of books, and somehow fit all my stuff in this little room. Also, it means that I’m going to be bombarded with all of Dad’s tv, phone calls, and whatnot. I think it’s time for a pair of noise-cancelling earphones.

But, the dog’s happy.

I realize that this admission may get me shunned but here it goes anyway…

chocolate chip muffins are revolting.

More for me then. :stuck_out_tongue:

Works for me.

I lurves CC cookies, and good chocolate cake. However, chocolate in pancakes, donuts, and the like I find disgusting.

I been busy. Went to the dump, cleaned Outer Manland (the workshop/shed), ran a load of dishes, made VWife a quilter’s ironing board, and whipped up a batch of Looo-WEEEE-zee-yana Shrimp Dip. Also managed a nap between doing the shed and the ironing board.

Me too! I love CC cookies and cake is good (as long as it doesn’t have chocolate frosting because that’s just too much). I’ve had CC pancakes once though and they were as ick as the muffins.
Then again, I totally got let down this time. I love blueberry muffins but the ones I got with the CC muffins had TOO MANY blueberries. I realize this might seem impossible but when you get a big mouthful of nothing but squishy blueberries and a teensy bit of wet muffin, it’s just too much. If I wanted just blueberries, I’d eat them fresh or in a pie. Also, I forgot to make sure they didn’t have those gross huge sugar crystals. I prefer my muffins cyrstal-less.

STARVING.
Excuse me while I go eat the table.

shortdrum I’m with ya! CC muffins and pancakes are ick! I loves me some CC cookies but they just don’t do it in muffins. Heh. This comin’ Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday, so at the church house we’re havin’ our annual pancake blowout. This means da bear helps cook, of course. We were discussin’ pancakes and the variations thereof. I suggested, and surprise was listened to, that we make plain pancakes and put out toppin’s. Thus we shall have stuff like chawklit chips, blueberries, strawberries, whipped crean and for pancake purists maple syrup (the real kind) and butter. There will also be bacon and sausage. This is a fund raiser for our Deacon’s ministries in the communities but we don’t have a set price. It’s all on a donation basis. Believe it or not this works. Last year’s total was fifteen hunnert bucks and I don’t expect any less this year. We lurves or Deacon!

Dindin will be lasagna which is bakin’ away as I post along with sallit (already made) and cheesey garlic bread. It’s rainin’ like all get out so this seems like a good rainy day dindin. Plus, leftovers for tomorrow’s N.O.L.! It’s all winwin.

I surveyed da freezer and have determined that three night’s dindins next week shall be beast stew, chikin’ 'n noodle soup and chili. One night may be a sammich night Monday is Men’s night at the church house so that’s taken care of already. I’m all plan ahead Mr. Homemaker this week! That plan ahead meals for the week person on The Food Channel would be so proud.

Off to check on Mr. Lasagna

Later Y’all!

Hey, **BBBobbio **- wanna be my neighbor? OK, not exactly neighbor, but within walking distance. Could you handle living so close to the greatness that is me??

PapaJohn made supper. I’m gonna assume the afghaning position. MWAH!
