Dancing with the Stars -- DWTS -- Fall 2014 (Season 19)

Quite a few great dances tonight. Lea’s contemporary,Alfonso’s Carlton,Tommy Chong’s jive all really good.

Very disappointed about Betsey. She’s improved every week. I’m surprised fans didn’t support the underdog this time.

I thought the “you’re the judge” thing was going to be so neat. Unfortunately, when I went to the site the names didn’t match up with who was dancing. Uh oh. About halfway through the show they mentioned it–ETand CT only. Thanks, ABC, for marginalizing those of us in Mountain.

Too bad about Betsey. She had the personality and most of the moves, but she kinda lacked musicality IMO. I was sorry to see her go. But she lasted longer than I expected.

Sometimes this show strikes a real chord. Where the silly competition just doesn’t matter. Lea’s dance for her father really tore me up. The emotions were so raw that it had me blubbering like a baby.

The Carlton dance was so clever and cute.

I saw Alfonso’s Carlton was trending so I watched the video. That was just so fun, I hope he got all 10’s.

He did - even “America” gave him a 10. Turns out, America is a tougher judge than the real ones. That was shocking, I thought they’d give 10s to everyone, but only 1 dancer.

I was sorry to see Betsy go, but it looked like she was running out of steam. I still want to see Michael go. He really improved last week, but it appears that he’s plateaued. I guess he has enough racing fans though, that he’ll probably go a long way.

Apparently the Jerome Robbins estate keeps really close tabs on anything that looks remotely like the movie or the play, so the content of the movie/play is heavily copywrited. Still, you can’t copywrite dance movement, everyone borrows from everyone, Robbins borrowed from ballet and jazz flamenco, etc. and Val borrowed a few steps but sequenced everything very differently so it was an entirely new take on the scene.

Last night I really enjoyed Alfonso, Lea, Janel, Tommy. The ladies tributes were lovely the guys were fun.

I can’t with that Duck chick, defending and standing with her racist homophobic Grandpa. She’s 17 but get a grip girl, you don’t have to agree with everything your horrible grandfather says. Besides everyone falling all over a kid with sloppy technique just because they’re unusual? Ewww. Even FOX news is defending them. It’s going to be a freak show to the end, and better dancers will suffer because of it.

I guess it was a pro rehearsal. Her partner Randy Couture was eliminated week 2. She seems ok in the hospital photos. Hopefully Karina will be dancing again soon.

Good lord, Emma–that outfit got my blood flowing! I may have to save that dance on my DVR for awhile. “Pass The Dutchie” takes me back. I had that song on vinyl as a kid.

That said, it was nice to see the judges actually give low scores (5s and 6s) to the lesser dancers (Tommy, Michael, Jonathan). I’d pick Michael to go home next, but I want to see if Emma’s outfits can get any smaller. So maybe Jonathan should go.

Loved Sadie and Derek’s dance.

I was wondering why Sharna Burgess was in so many of the pro dances tonight; probably doing all of Karina’s spots as well as her own. Odd that Tom Bergeron didn’t mention it.

Wow, not knowing how different dances go, I thought a lot of the stars had great dances, but I guess they were technically deficient.

The only one I thought did very poorly was Michael. He really needs to go. And I thought it was unfair to blame the music and dance combination on Tommy & Ema. They don’t get to choose either, so it’s not their fault if the music is too slow for the dance.

I think Neil DeGrasse Tyson is doing just great!

Are we really supposed to know who all these “stars” are?

Yep. Putting Reggae to a Salsa is just dumb. The judges, especially Julianne really need to STFU because she’s just an annoying drone. Len had cranky quips that Tom Bergeron could play with, but this bitch is just a downer.

I usually get about 50% recognition, but this season I think I knew 3: Alfonso Ribeiro, Lea Thompson and Tommy Chong. I associate the name Waltrip with stock car racing, so maybe that’s 3.5.

Yeah, Julianne is basically another Carrie Ann Inaba, and we already had too many of those.

Well tonight was pretty damn good. Even Michael was good tonight, although I thought he still deserved to go home instead of Jonathan.

Also, nice to see Leah Remini. She was looking good. And she did a great job. I think she should take over permanently.

And finally, Pitbull made a pretty good judge.

Kinda glad Jonathan went home–he always came across as so fake.

Remini was fun!

I didn’t like Pitbull as a judge.

Bethany and Derek danced well, but their song was really awful.

Whitney needs to grow up a little.

Like many here, I’ve been waiting for Waltrip to get the boot, but yeah, Jonathan would have been next under any circumstances.

Side comment: too bad it took him (Michael) five weeks to realize he should just play it straight and hope for the best. Seems like there’s at least one contestant every series that doesn’t get this.

Agreed. Remini was clearly having a blast. The “Lea sandwich” among other things, cracked me up.

BTW, she’ll apparently be back for next week as well.

Also agreed. Aside from knowing SFA about the dances, he was driving me insane with his utter inability to simply raise his scoring paddle. How bloody hard can that be?

Alfonso looked rather seriously messed up after his turn last night. Is he going to be able to continue?

I would like to see Leah be a permanent co-host or whatever they call her. It’s fun to have someone who can make a quip rather than ask “how did you feel.” As a matter of fact, she made fun of that sort of question.

If she and Tom had good chemistry and played off each other, it would really brighten the show. These middle weeks are all about getting rid of the weaker members.

I don’t think Julianne is another Cary Inaba. She appears to care a lot more about technical aspects, while Cary Ann judges technical, but goes on about dancing from the heart and the emotional content of the dances.
