There may be some passing drizzle tomorrow, but we’re not going to let that bother us, are we?
Didn’t think so.
There may be some passing drizzle tomorrow, but we’re not going to let that bother us, are we?
Didn’t think so.
Done.
We’ll be at 4 picnic tables under a roof so we don’t need to worry about any raindrops. By all means, bring the kids, they could use the nearby playground equipment.
I’ve got a boombox-style CD player that I can bring. It’s not majorly powerful, so if anyone wants to bring theirs instead, I won’t be insulted.
Thanks for the go on the kids…we’re not sure if we’re bringing them yet, but it’s nice to know we can if we want to.
I’ve already e-mailed you about this, but just in case you look here before you check your mail, I’m having some problems with the mailbox I gave you before, could you re-send directions to verble@starpower.net? Thanks ever so.
Quietgirl and I, providing all goes well, should arrive sometime between 5-5:30.
Now, you all had better save some food for us. (cough Geobabe cough)
We’re bringing brownies.
What we need is soms Irish deaf humor:
A drunken Irishman is driving through the city of Dublin on St.
Patty’s Day and his car is weaving violently all over the road.
An Irish cop pulls him over.
“So,” says the cop to the driver, “where have you been?”
“I’ve been to the pub,” slurs the drunk.
“Well,” says the cop, “it looks like you’ve had quite a few.”
“I did all right,” the drunk says with a smile.
“Did you know,” says the cop, standing straight and folding his
arms, “that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your
car?”
“Oh, thank heavens,” sighs the man. “For a minute there, I
thought I’d gone deaf.”
Just for kicks, I’m going to bring part of my PC sound system to liven yours (your sound system) up a bit. A subwoofer and two speakers. I only hope your box and my stuff will work together.
Oh, andygirl? These wouldn’t be the same brownies y’all had a few days ago, would they? Not that I mind, of course, it just seems coincidental:)
Planning to arrive no later than 3:00. However, I have a propensity for getting lost, so don’t worry if I’m a bit late.
Sorry
Anniz and I didn’t make it, obviously. We were a little, uhh, busy this afternoon.
No, really, we were.
I hope you had fun without us, though.
We had hoped to come but instead I was busy all day working on the site http://www.tucsonstpatrick.com – my mom kept sending me photos and info from the parade and festival site and I kept updating the website (still working on it actually) and it took hours and hours.
I hate the beltway.
Why do I always have ot take the beltway to Old Town?
Every time I go to Alexandria I take the beltway and twice now out of three times I’ve ended up in Maryland going back.
WTF???
Grr.
I am now going to sleep, God-willing and my sister’s alarm doesn’t wake me up.
Sorry I missed it, guys. I was scheduled to work, and with mid-terms and essays and work, I completely forgot. By the time I remembered (last night), it was too late to back out, 'cause my manager has a stomach virus and really needed me there.
I’m hope you guys are having a great time! I promise I’ll be at the next one!
Bluesman and I had our usual great time. The whole free mix and mingle thing, as opposed to being confined to resturant tables, was definitely worth braving the occasional rain shower for :).
Thanks very much to Jeff and Angie for hosting, we look forward to seeing everyone in Jess’s hot tub in May!
I had a wonderful (although, far too short) time! I agree with Lucretia that “the whole free mix and mingle thing, as opposed to being confined to restaurant tables, was definitely worth braving the occasional rain shower for.”
andy: What can I say, hon! <smooches>
quietgirl: You really do blush at the drop of a hat! You’re a real honey!
punha: Keep on truckin’, guy!
Geobabe: You rock, girlfriend! <high-fives Geobabe>
Jess: Ah, to be young, in school again, and lucky enough to have you for a teacher! Oh, and what’s this about “Jess’s hot tub in May” that Lucretia mentioned?
Wendel: Too bad you don’t live in NYC . . . DrMatrix needs a good math friend!
dc: Great seein’ you again! Thanks again for the ride back to goboy’s! (Pssst . . . and I wouldn’t mind a bit if you spanked Sqrl for me.)
goboy: It was a pleasure meeting you, IRL! Thanks again for your hospitality!
And to all of you that I only got a chance to say hello to (due to lack of time), it was a pleasure to even just meet you . . . we’ll see each other again ('specially you, Falcon)!
“You really are an old queen.” - andygirl
Just wanted to thank everyone for coming. Angie kept trying to get me to mingle as the host, but I just like to see everyone else having fun. Knew I forgot something this morning, I was supposed to bring my film to be developed today. When I get my pics back, I hope to find somewhere to put them at members.aol.com. I did remember to bring in some leftover watergate cake so Angie & I aren’t stuck eating an entire pan! Should’ve just made one, but I wanted to make sure there was enough in case everyone on the list could come.
Right back atcha, girlfriend!
Where the heck is everybody, anyway? I’ve only recently returned home after being held incommunicado all weekend by a certain Doper who shall remain nameless, and expected many more posts regarding this shindig.
I had a marvelous time, and it was wonderful to see some of y’all again, and meet the rest of you!
More later, as I’m tying up my mom’s phone line at the moment.
Everything’s better when it’s set on fire!
I think everyone had a good time, despite the rain and the cold temperatures it brought with it. It was good seeing so many out-of-towners – Cajun Man, DrMatrix, Strainger – new faces – quietgirldownthehall – meeting so many locals that I never met before – goboy, ExTank, QuickSilver – and of course the usuals – Geobabe, Bluesman, Lucretia, Falcon, RTFirefly, andygirl, iampunha, Jeff Olsen,Wendell Wagner, Peta Tzunami, pldennison, Jess & husband.
The only real disappointment is that pldennison DID NOT bring his famous hummus he promised to bring. But he can be my bitch anyhow, so back off!
ExTank and Falc, where are the pics?
Quietgirl and I had quite a lovely time.
The ride home was very special, and featured such exchanges as “Um… we lost Rt. 404. How did we lose 404?” and my personal favorite, “Hmm. Seaford.” “No, don’t go to Seaford, it’s way out of the way.” “We’re three miles from it.” “Oh.”
I’m very special when it comes to driving at night.
Anyway, the dopefest was quite lovely. I had some great conversations with some people. (Jess, I agree that the girl on the triceratops rocks.) Cajun Man and DrMatrix rock utterly.
Sadly, because of time constraints, there were a few people I didn’t get to talk to at all. Next time.
So what do you all think of my girl?
And FTR, geobabe, yes I did like when you hit me:) Though if you’d given me a bit of a warning . . .
Pics will be up today, once I get my butt in gear. ExTank already sent them to me, so don’t blame him.
Had a wonderful time with y’all as usual…was wonderful to meet Strainger, ExTank (who is a BABE! Who knew?), Dr. Matrix, and Cajun Man.
And Jess, hope we didn’t scare hubby TOO much!!!
Jeff & Angie, thanks for hosting. It was a real treat to get out and put some faces to the names. Mrs. QS was very keen to hear all about it when I got home. Perhaps next time she will come out as well.
As for the rest of you, I think I got a chance to at least say hello to most of you. You all seemed sick, twisted and shifty to me. But in a good way. Glad tameecha all!
