I stole me a computer in the admin room while no one was looking, so this’ll be my only post this morning.
Today’s the 20th, and I’m looking to be at McPherson Square Metro at 12:00(ish). I’m lookin’ forward to seeing you all. For those who might show up and not know me, I’m wearing a green shirt and green tie.

dantheman, Ginger of the North, RTFirefly, Olentzero…where were you all? (Well, dan already posted above but what about the rest of you?) We had our esteemed visitor for the north and the far north here and you just blew him off. And Ginger even emailed me and said her brood was on its way. Hmmmm.
I even had a birthday present for you Ginger! Oh well, I guess you’ll just have to hope I make it to Annapolis later this month 
We drove to the Greenbelt Metro station, and there wasn’t even one parking lot. NOT ONE. So we decided to drive downtown to Au Bon Pain. However, when we called the ABP we thought you were at, they gave us the wrong address - I asked them if they were the one by Mcpherson Square, they said yes, but when we got down there, there were three different ABPs - we went to them all - and nobody was there. So at around 1:00, we figured you’d all be gone, and we went to get Pho.
I’m really upset that we missed Andrew and everyone else, and it’s such a chore for us to get down there. It takes us over an hour and a half to get there, including driving and Metro. I’m upset but whaddayagonnado?
dcnewsman - what happened to me was:
- Work got hectic.
- I posted twice that I wouldn’t be able to make it. Both times, my posts got chewed up by whatever bug was afflicting the board the past two days.
- By about 11:25, I gave up trying to post, and decided to email you to let you know I wouldn’t be there. But by then, I couldn’t even get in to look up your email.
- IOW, it just sucked all the way around. Sorry.
Hey, you know what might be cool? Not to detract from the Lunches whatsoever, of course.
The following occurred to me a few minutes ago:

“Think, think, think,” I thought. Could a connection between 1 and 2 be established?
How about some nice weekend we have a Doper Dog Walk? Bring your pooch (or kitty, if you can get him/her on a leash!) to, say, The Ellipse, and we’ll all have ourselves a communal walk.
As you can tell, I’m much better at planning/thinking of these things than I am actually attending them!
And the fact that I have a new dog is mere coincidence. 
Oh well, just an idea to float. Don’t know how much interest there’d be, so I figured it’d be okay to broach it here.
Well…I’m home. First time in my life I’ve ever slept on a plane. How bizarre. Besides lunch with my inestimable fellow Dopers, I worked every day from 5:30 to 7:30. I’m very tired.
Lunch, however was fantastic. Got to meet me two new Dopers…TeleTronOne, my wife loved the yo-yo. She especially liked the trick I did that smashed into my kneecap and had me dancing around cursing like a sailor. She’d never seen that one before! Great fun meeting you, and maybe I’ll see you again next year!

dcnewsman and Sqrl…Meh. I’ve seen you before. You’re nothing special. Steph and I had a good time at dinner on Sunday, and we’ll see you guys soon. And I promise to remember your birthday if you remember mine.
And to dantheman, Ginger and RTFirefly, it sucks awfully that you couldn’t make it, but the fact that you tried was more than enough. Maybe I’ll see you all next time I’m out.
