I had a mail run to make and got to McPherson Square at 12:10. Didn’t see anyone so I scoped out the two local Au Bon Pains - no luck there either. Where did you guys end up??
I would love to make a DC lunch bunch meeting, but I work at Skyline City in Falls Church, so it’s pretty much impossible. How about a post-work beer in DC? That I could do.

It was a bit crowded in there, so the manager stuck us at a table in front of the sandwich section, so it wasn’t exactly easy to see the windows.

I’m sure we could put together drinks and dinner one Friday or Saturday night or even a movie. What does everyone think about that? Suggestions? I personally think that if we see a movie, we go to the Uptown in Cleveland Park. It is an old-time theater with a balcony and just one huge screen. A group of us went there to see the Exorcist. And I can meet up after work on Friday for happy hour. I work near the White House and am usually out of the office by 6 on Friday.
We are set to meet this Fri., Mar. 2 for our bi-weekly lunch. We will meet, as usual, at the White House exit of McPherson Square at noon. All in travelling distance are welcome to join in. Please RSVP if you are coming by 11 a.m. on Friday so we know to wait for you.
Let’s see if bumping this on Monday night will allow Olentzero to remember…
Anyway, I’ll be there on Friday. And, two Fridays from now, I might have a Very Special Guest with me.

Hi, gang…I’m fairly new to the site and I do work in DC. I see that you get together for lunch; is this a guy thing or is everyone welcome? Is there any sort of common thread other than everyone is a Doper?
I am going to try try try to make it this Friday. I wish I could make more of these things, but it’s hard for me to get out on Fridays. (Plus I have to come from Arlington, whereas most of you get to walk.) So right now I’m saying I’ll be there.

Yes, the special guest I was referring to was Anniz. But, the way things look, Olentzero showing up would qualify as a “special guest.”

I don’t think I’m coming this week. Life at the Firefly household has been stressful this week (see here), and I may need the day just to crash.
Oh, just the typical not enough work for my company to afford keeping me. Apparently, I’m too expensive. I’ll bounce back, though, the last time this happened to me (five years ago next week) it was the best thing to happen to me. Well, before I met Anniz, I mean.
Gulp I’m glad to hear that Mrs. Firefly is getting better, but her problems pale mine. Sorry you won’t make it on Friday.
Maybe I will need that cup after all, dcnewsman, since I didn’t get any severance pay.
and you just threw the last one I brought you away. Sorry to hear about the job but I do think your talents are in demand (and not just by Anniz). The no severance pay sucks. But come on down, it will give you an excuse to get out of bed, shower and get out of the house.

I won’t be making it downtown tomorrow for the lunch bunch. I’m having a friend visit for the weekend, and due to my unemployment and his recent split with his girlfriend, he’s taking the whole day off on Friday, not just the afternoon.

Monfort blew us off. RTfirefly blew us off. (They both said they were in advance.) Phil blew us off (even though he said he was coming). Valkyrie didn’t show up (after she asked if she could come). Falcon didn’t even answer. Snenc didn’t either. But Sqrlcub, me AND Olentzero did come. (Yes, folks, he is alive sans goatee.)
