Jane D’oh, Virginia Beach is quite a ways but here goes:
Get on 95 North
Take 95 North to the Capital Beltway, Route 495
Take 495 to the Dulles Access Road (this will cost you 50 cents)
Take the Dulles Access Road to the Dulles Greenway towards Leesburg (this will cost $2.00)
At Leesburg get on Route 7 towards Winchester
Get off Route 7 onto Route 9 towards Charles Town, WV
We’re about 10 miles up Route 9 at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 671
How’s that?

Plus I’ll take any excuse to drink beer and camp out.
As I’m a car-challenged New Yorker, I’d have to take some form of public transportation down to the area and catch a ride with someone. I hope that this can work out.

Montfort, you’re very right that the northern route through Frederick is the fastest way to get to our place from Montgomery County, no doubt about it. I do that drive too often to try anything else.

I’m pretty far from you, ramesh, but hell, if you can make it to Vienna Metro by . . . crap, I think it’s noon I’m going to meet Captain Amazing, NeidHart and goboy. ::thinks to self . . . “that wasn’t a complete sentence”:: If you can make it to Vienna Metro by then I’d be glad to take you along with the rest of our motley crue.
Billdo, I don’t know how late the train runs or how you’re plannig (hoping?) to get back to NYC, but if you need a ride back to Metro my suburban fits six comfortably, and eight if there are short people who can sit in the middle. And there’s always the spacious trunk, which can act as a seventh/ninth seat.
But which side of the Metro station? The one with the CUE buses?
