What time is dinner Thursday likely to happen?
Since no one else took the lead, I’m in charge now. Rip’s Casual Dining on US301 where MD197 dead-ends into it - just south of US 50. How does 7PM work for time? Or 6:30? Help me out here. I get off work at 2, so I’ve got all kinds of flexibility.
As it happened, we stopped at Rip’s for breakfast yesterday - it looks like a nice venue for a casual, chatty dinner. It’s easy to find. I didn’t ask if they took reservations, but when I know how many of us there will be, I’ll call, or just show up and get our name on the list.
So, who’s with us?
I’m thinking let’s shoot for 6:30. How does that sound to everyone?
6:30pm Thursday and 7pm Friday work for me.
RT, I think you’re right that we’ve got too many people for the Alexandria TP. The upside is that the Arlington location will benefit Ginger and anyone coming from the north of town because it’s easy access from inbound Rt 66. Anyone who needs to Metro can arrange for one of us to pick them up at the East Falls Church Station.
Well, 6:30 might be do-able. We’ll have to leave at about four to try to bypass traffic, or go another way. I won’t be staying past 8 or so if I have to bring Matthew (all signs point to yes - all of my potential sitters have choir rehearsal then).
Count me in. And no, I haven’t been to a Dopefest before.
Well, don’t bring any livestock! That’s an on line thing. Wouldn’t want to get kicked out agai . . . um nevermind.

Monday morning bump to see if there are any others interested in Friday evening. So far, it’ll be just 3 of us.
Hmm…I’d probably have trouble getting there by 7. Got a full address so I can see how long a trip I’ve got coming?

Only three of us for Friday evening? Does that include scout? 
I hate to be a fly in the ointment, but does anybody else think this thing is getting needlessly complicated? Two separate DopeFests? Why not pick a place a little more central to all of us, like in the district somewhere… I don’t know, feel free to tell me I’m being a pain, but I probably won’t go on Friday, given the low interest.
I think there are 2 nights because some folks could make one and not the other, and scout has nothing better to do anyway.
That sounded snarky… what I meant was that scout is free both evenings. I wanted to meet her, but Thursday wasn’t good for me. She was agreeable to doing something Friday also, so I made the suggestion. As far as I know, she, Anita, and I will meet for dinner for sure, and whoever else wishes to come is welcome. And if it’s just the 3 of us, we shall have a pleasant time as well.
It evolved into two nights because RT and I wanted to do Taqueria Poblano on Thursday and several folks, like you for instance, said Friday was better. I suggested something in MD to accomodate you and others on that side of town and then FCM stepped up to make the Friday plans. You showed an interest and now want to back out because the other Friday folks haven’t checked back in?
By my count it could be far more than three. I hope that includes you, Mike.
Well, it is true that I have nothing better to do.
It is a major PITA to get out to PG County from Northern Virginia on a Friday. I used to live in Greenbelt and know that area around 301 pretty well and I know from experience that it is pretty congested that time of night and on Friday. So I doubt I will be able to make it Friday 
But I will be there Thursday night!
Yeah, that’s my big concern–I looked at the driving directions for the address FCM posted, and it’s way the hell on the other side of the city. Given that I’m starting out 25-30 miles west of DC, I’m not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about the drive. Let me see what I can do about Thursday.
So, you don’t mind being fêted on two consecutive nights, in two different states? I could only dream of having that kind of luck if I was journeying off to a strange city.
On a similar vein as nyctea, it’s a major PITA to get from this part of MD to northern VA on any week night. And I know I have things to do Thursday night anyway. So who’s definitely in for Friday?

My sweetie just said he’d come along on Friday. We’ll make a Doper of him yet!
