How’s the parking situation there?
You’ve got mail.
Parking should be fine. The restaurant is in a shopping center with a Harris Teeter. Anyone who wants to keep the snow off of their car can park in the underground lot behind/underneath the Harris Teeter and come up the elevator. Cool Beans!
Dantheman and Alan Smithee have contacted me for rides from East Falls Church metro. Anyone who is in doubt about whether this thing is happening - rest assured: It’s a Fest!
Just got home! It was really nice to meet you Scout! And of course nice to see everyone else. Let’s do it again real soon!
Dinner was very nice, and it was great to meet/see everyone. The drive home, on the other hand, was nerve-wracking. I hate snow.
I hate the snow, too. I ran off the road once but managed to pull back before I completely lost it. I wasn’t even going fast, I swear, but just ran into a patch of particularly deep, frozen slush.
Dinner was great: I had the chocolate chicken - a new experience for me.
It was nice to see old friends and make new ones, especially our guest of honor. It was so good to meet you, Scout!
Who’d’a thunk we’d have such a big gathering on a Thursday night during a snowstorm?
Here’s who showed:

I had a great time, and it was a real pleasure meeting several Dopers for the first time!
The drive home took about an hour and a half, through increasingly heavy snow. Kinda fun, though. There was 7" on our lawn when we got home.
Snow, or do you live next door to the Bobbits?
Nah, when we got home, I got down on the grass and whipped mine out.
After clearing all the damned snow out of the way, that is.
I believe that Triskadecamus’ theme song really should be “I’ve Been Everywhere.” That or “Mexicali Blues.”
I got home around 10:45. I’d parked in a Metro garage, but on the top level - so it took ~20 minutes to clear it.

Made a good run, but I ran too slow.

And it’s Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don’t pull you through
Hey, guys, we had a good time. And this time I didn’t hit the harder stuff!
One of the few benefits of being very old is you acquire a lot of stories to tell.
Thanks for a very interesting evening.
I just wish I had had a chance to hold that Wierd North Baby for a while. He’s a cutie.

“Everybody said they’d stand behind me, when the game got rough.
But the joke was on me, there was nobody even there to bluff!” ~ Bob Dylan ~
I’m not gonna google it, but let me guess: “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues”?
Got it in one!
The sig that time was from the same song, different verse.

Just wanted to drop in and say I thoroughly enjoyed my first meeting with Dopers. I’m only sorry I didn’t get to talk to more of you - that’s the problem with long tables! It was so fun - I will definitely be up for going to more area gatherings.
I am especially glad I got to meet my doper-twin scout - even though we do look nothing alike! And definitely a thank you to RTFirefly for helping me clear off my car. The ride home was certainly an adventure - I now know what anti-lock braking feels like! But I got home in one piece, and I hope all the rest of you did as well.

It was the Juarez what gave it away.
I always liked it when Phil sang it.
OK, tonight’s mini-Fest is a go, with a slight change in venue. We’re meeting at 6:30-ish here. Right now, there will be 3 or 4 of us, depending how my spousal unit is feeling. Anyone so inclined, drop me an email so I know how big a table to request when we get there.
Thank you so much for working that out. I’m relieved to hear that tonight’s event is ahappenin’!
It looks like you picked a location near the end of the Green Line, Branch Avenue Station, so that Scout can go straight there from her conference at L’Enfant. I can’t make it tonight but on behalf of others planning to go is the restaurant walking distance from the metro?
Have fun tonight!
Um… whoa. That’s a long way for me, especially going back home.
Who is definitely in for tonight?
It’s scout, dantheman, and me. Poor ol’ Cap’n Steve hasn’t been feeling well and I just got off the phone with him - he’s coming home and crashing.
