Deal breaker: lack of a list of subscribed threads sorted by currency

Deal breaker: lack of a list of subscribed threads sorted by currency. I urge the powers that be to either get this fixed or move to a different service provider that provides a list of subscribed threads sorted by currency. Unfortunately, Discourse is very needy and focused on generating noise rather than providing a fundamental feature.

Seconded

At the bottom of the thread, there’s a bookmark button. Acts as kind of a subscribe.
It will display a small bookmark on the left of the thread title and there’s a list in your profile.

Thirded

Wait…what?

This one is in :eu: Euros so it’s listed before this other one in :kr: Won?

I miss this old-board feature as well, but the new board does have an analogous feature. Using Bookmarks in Discourse, we can curate our own “User CP” list … and I believe that by default it will display in order from newer to older.

It was nice that the old software automatically added threads to our User CP list once we posted to a thread. Here, we just have to do the same thing explicitly by bookmarking threads we want to “subscribe” to. I wonder if it’s possible for Discourse users to set something to where threads we post to automatically get bookmarked? Or maybe that’s more of a Discourse Tracking thing (which I haven’t really delved into yet, but I know it exists).

Under Preferences > notifications there is a setting titled “When I post in a topic, set that topic to” and the options are Tracking, Watching, or Normal. I just set myself to Watching and will see what happens when I post in this thread.

Ps: the fact that I can go to other parts of the forum and keep typing my message to this thread is AMAZING. Discourse is WONDERFUL!

Woulda “liked” this post if we still had likes

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find a way to list all watched threads – if someone does fina a way to do so please let us know.

Ditto. It looks to me like the Bookmark feature is what’s called for in replicating the function of the old board’s “User CP/Subscribed Threads” list.

Me too. I don’t get what the big issue is with a “like” button. Yes, yes, we want to encourage conversation rather than just clicking a button…

But often all I want to do is say “I like this opinion or point of view or whatever” and I’m not going to make a lame “I like this” post that nobody is going to read or respond to anyway. A “like” button lets the writer know that there are people who like what they’ve written, even if they aren’t posting lame “I like this post” posts.

I second that. That’s how I’m doing it at the moment. I’m bookmarking threads where I would have subscribed on the old board.

If you go to bookmarks (Profile > Activity > Bookmarks), you’ll see a list with the most recent first, and last update and activity.

“sorted by currency”??? What does that mean?

Ordered from most recent to oldest. “Currency” as in “the quality of being current or recent” as opposed to “money”.

I don’t like this.

I like this.

We could bat this one back and forth all day.

I also miss the old subscribed threads page. It was my default landing on the Dope - check out the threads I’d posted in and then go poking around elsewhere.

Manually subscribing to every thread I post in is not equivalent functionality. I don’t know if it’s a dealbreaker, but it’s probably my #2 biggest complaint, rather far behind lacking the ability to display threads as simple searchable text rather than this infinite scroll thing.

I now think that setting a thread to 'Watching’ is more or less equivalent to subscribing on the old board.

It means that you get a notification every time someone posts something new to the thread. You will see the notifications popping up on your avatar.

There’s a notification icon at the bottom of the scroll bar (and at the bottom of the page) where you can change the notification status of a thread, so it’s always easy to do.

Admittedly, the only way to get a list of watched threads is to go to the advanced search page and select “Only return topics/posts… I’m watching” - or type in “in:watching” in the ordinary search box.

I’ve made a bookmark for watched threads, sorted by latest, and it works as a substitute for a list of subscribed threads:

In your Profile, under Preferences > Notifications, you can also set it so that threads you post in are automatically watched, but you can easily change the status of individual threads any time.
