O M G
I just sent a link to my dad - one of his nicknames is “Old Goat”. I’m fairly certain he’ll be sharing that with his friends.
Reading about all the yummies, I’m wondering if I have enough pecans to make a pie or something else pecan heavy. Might have to get up off the couch and check.
For those curious about the eggs in dressing. It’s not just one. The dressing is eggy like bread pudding, but savory. My husband doesn’t like bread pudding and he doesn’t like my mom’s/grandmother’s recipe, so I don’t make it.
Grandma’s recipe:
Giblets (minus the liver)
4 onions
celery cut up
salt & pepper
large loaf white bread
8 eggs
1 quart milk
Broth from turkey
It’s normally baked it in two pans. And one of those pans would get a jar of cut up oysters as well.
Her sister-in-law’s recipe calls for 20 slices of bread and 3 eggs and also includes milk.
This was a busy week. Monday I went to the gym and signed up for a year, and got some instruction for a few of the weight machines.
Wednesday we went to our third concert in as many weeks, and we got to meet up with a friend we haven’t seen since pre-COVID, and also met their new partner. Concert was Mammonth WVH, Halestorm and Alter Bridge, all of whom were excellent.
On Friday I went back to the gym and did 10 minutes, just 10 minutes of rowing, in addition to some weight machines. By bedtime my arms were hurting and weren’t much good for anything else. Woke up at 3:00 and took Advil because they were still bothering me. Might take some more, depending on how they feel.
So today, I is tired. Just to make sure I had a full week, I had 2 full days of on-site training, so learned a lot and have even more to do.
Today’s plan? Already did one load of laundry, and stripped the bed. It’s time to flip/rotate the mattress, so the mattress cover’s in the wash, and then there’s the sheets to wash as well. I also wash our robes and the laundry basket liners when we flip/rotate the mattress, so lots of laundry to do.
Plus there’s cleaning the new windows, and cleaning the areas where we had to move furniture, before we move the furniture back.
Lunch will be homemade meatloaf from the freezer and fresh made mashed potatoes, plus carrots. On the way home from the gym I stopped and got potatoes and carrots from the discount store. Got 5 lbs of potatoes and 2 lbs of carrots for 5.15 CHF, and the potatoes are a lot bigger than the more expensive ones. Should do that more often.
When you figure that out, please share. Growing up during the 1970s energy crisis, my parents are still very stingy with the heat and lights, Hubby’s family had different ideas.
Speaking of energy crisises, the discount store turned off the outside lights after they closed. I’m happy about it, as I think it should be dark at night. Maybe our complex will get a clue as well.
Thanks for the link! As I am logged into Netflix here, I just added the show to our watch list. Been meaning to take a look, but haven’t gotten around to it.
My grandmother just cooked them up with bacon and portioned them out into freezer bags. They were just the thing for grandpa to nuke in the microwave when he wanted something to eat and she was working. That was the extent of his cooking knowledge. Still one of my favorites, but I don’t make it myself - I would probably gorge myself.
Okay, I am caught up.
Thanks for sharing all the yummy food ideas/descriptions. And now I’ve realized that tomorrow is the first Sunday in Advent, so there’s Christmas-related stuff to do as well. Probably need to get a move on.
Hugs to all and happy Saturday!
