And now I know. If Mooomm’s not in the MMP, it’s because she has her own.
Just finished one rather promising phone interview and have ANOTHER one in an hour, for a different gig. An embarrassment of riches!!
Now, to get hired, so I can have, well, actual riches. Or at least a flippin’ tank of gas.
If any of y’all have some luck o’the Irish to spare, or are willing to loan your fairy godmother for a bit, I could really use some magic dust!
Just break out the chocolate and she’ll be along to join us presently.
Or maybe some nice mod will join us together soon.
In anticipation of said commingling, let me say that I seldom if ever have trouble falling asleep, but I often have trouble staying asleep. If my bladder doesn’t wake me up it’s my aching bones.
And of course, if I get up to use the facilities, usually one of the dogs will get up and want to use their facility, which is often cold and wet. I have a giant bathrobe that comes down to my ankles, but still.
As for St. Paddy’s day, I have a lot of Irish in me and loves me some corned beef and veg, and single malt Irish, but the usual ‘festivities’ hold very little appeal. I have a corned beef slab in the fridge to cook later in the week, in fact. Maybe I should stop at the likker store later. ![]()
We’re in for one more dry day here until the deluge starts again, so today I’ll probably mow the lawn, if I can get our 25+ year-old lawnmower started. When this thing finally dies completely, I’m gettin’ an electric. I’m sick and tired of messing with gas and oil and spark plugs every spring.
Oh, and Happy Moanday, y’all!!!
Update: interview 2 was a complete bust, but I’m pretty sure I’ll at least get a followup interview for the 1st one … and that’s the gig that is better paying AND far more interesting.
This is more progress than I’ve had in months, sad as that sounds, so … cautious optimism may be in order.
I came home early and I’m going to try to do something I never do - I need a nap. I was nodding off at my desk and since I ran out of work to do anyway, I figured it was a good time to come home and have a little snooze.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I suggest waiting until after the offer…& after the pre-employment drug screen. ![]()
I reported this to be merged, since Soapy doesn’t hang out w/ us anymore.
Forgot to add: PurpleHorseshoe*, I do hope you get the job.
Unemployment doth well and truly suck! And all those asshats that say that unemployed people are just lazy and could have a job if they wanted to can kiss my posterior. (from 10’ away. I’m not letting them near me.)
Also, I have a sincere dislike for DST. I think it’s a stupid idea. It’s always been a stupid idea, and it will always* be* a stupid idea.
*If you have an official MMP nickname, I’ve forgotten it. Sorry.
And my record of being unable to nap continues. Dammit.
Definitely sleeping with Mel tonight.
I merged two competing MMPs. They interlaced pretty well so I’m not identifying each post that belonged to each.

I usually sleep just fine. The latest I ever stay up is ten p.m. I’ve spent my adult life bein’ an early riser for the most part so I guess that’s just me now. OYKW is swipin’ the General’s suppage which works for me. ‘Tis cold and windy out. Winter is givin’ us one last hurrah before it goes away for good.
My St. Patrick’s celebration centers around the fact that my church is named for St. Patrick. Other than that, I probably wouldn’t do anything. I do like all the prepin’ and cookin’ for the feast. Matter of fact that’s what I like the most. I have a good time in the church kitchen every year. It helps that it’s a nice commercial kitchen.
**swampy **- I’ve always been an early riser. I don’t like being out past 9 or so, and it’s rare for me not to be in bed by 9:30. I’m pretty sure I jinxed myself because last week I was sleeping really well, and I mentioned it to FCD. You’d think I’d know better…
I think tonight’s supper will be forage. I don’t want to cook. In fact, I don’t want to eat, either. The sammich I had for lunch is sitting like a lump in my gut. Even my digestive system is tired!
The General’s sup has been consumed. All is well. Plus there’s chawklit cake. Life is always good when chawklit cake is near.
We have snow.
Of course it won’t amount to anything but it is a surprise.
Ripple has a new annoying habit, flipping all the cushions off the couch.
He has to grow up one day. I hope.
Chicken for dinner since I forgot to take shrimp out of the freezer.
It’s been a very boring day.
The meeting for 'Beamer went well. Based on discussion there, I’ve talked to 'Beamer and I think (prayers and chants and other rituals commencing) that he will start school part time on Wednesday.
Other than that, we have picked up our Suburban and tentatively picked out it’s replacement. We’ve decided that it’s too old and the towing capacity is just a touch too low for everything we want to do with it. It manages local trips just fine, but we want to go to Yellowstone at some point. I don’t have confidence that it can handle a mountain pass.
Bumba let me know if you want another mower to tide you over. We have a lightly used one that I bought for our yard before I got disabled. We maintained it, but it’s had a good, easy life. I need to stir myself to list it on Craig’s List. I’d be willing to send it along to a MMPer for freesies, or maybe some of your soap.
MetalMouse I saw there was a new Honor Harrington book out. Have you read it? Any good? Also meant to ask if you read that series that Weber did John Ringo (March to the Sea, etc). Apparently, they’re finally doing another.
I want chawklit cake, dammit!
And today’s big news - **FCD **traded his Porsche for a Chevy HHR. It’s a 2008 but it had barely over 50K miles on it! It’s in beautiful condition, and I know I’ll like it lots more than the Porsche.
Oh, and I saw a couple of snowflakes, but now it’s all rain.
Do official visits count or just social ones? I mean, do we call him Bone…or femur? ![]()
Wha???
Why?
Wha?!??! :eek::smack:
We could have set you up with lots of chawklit cake you know, for an introduction to that car. We could even have made arrangements for some other car in trade I bet. (I have no idea what an HHR is, but I’ll find out.) My dreams are crushed. ![]()
Skeletor ![]()
The porsche was hard on his back and difficult for him to get out of. I hated it with a white hot hate. So now we have a white HHR.
I worked. It snowed. People went insane.:smack: But beer and hockey. Which is what I’ll be doing Saturday, since it’s a game.
Mooooommmm!!!, it once took me 5 minutes to nod off. That’s the worst I’ve eve had as far as sleep trouble.
Bone merged the MMPs. I found this humerus.
Good luck on the follow up interview ,Lucky!
