Welcome back shoe! Good luck oin your job interview.
Moooom, while you’re losing a way cool car, your auto insurance should decrease considerably.
I googled the kind of air mattress that I wanted as a guest bed and found one that I wanted at Tar-jay, but not my Tar-jay. I had to go there to pick up a prescription, so I checked out what they did have while I was there. Whaddya know? They did have the one I wanted, so I got it. No drive to the next town. Yay!
I talked to Dad today. He has to spend another night in the horsepistol, but has graduated to soft food. He should go home tomorrow.
I have some bound sets of sermons from the first half of the 19th century. Maybe they were better in person but ----------- as reading all these years later even the good ones are real eye-lid-droppers. I keep one in the drawer of the nightstand when nothing else wants to turn my brain off.
Irk was fine if longer than expected. On the good news we have played “musical managers” and I got my favorite back. What he thinks of the development will be determined tomorrow.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 36 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark but TWPTB say clear so I’ll give that to ‘em) with a predicted high of 61 and N.O.S. for the day. Today shall be removal of the rest of the wallpaper in the livin’ room, ceilin’ paintin’ in the livin’ and dinin’ rooms, and the first coat of paint on walls in both rooms. Tomorrow the floors get measured. Home Depot shall do the measurin’ because they have a better price on what I want. Also today is laundry day and I shall meet a co-parishioner from good ol’ St. Pat’s at Sam’s for the purpose of purchasin’ briskets for the big feast. We shall purchase and take ‘em to the Parish hall and put ‘em into da fridge. We claimed space Sunday mornin’. Veggies and chikin shall be purchased on Firday mornin’ along with bread for the bread puddin’. Tonight we sup upon Stouffer’s lasagna, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. That should be enough stuff to keep me outta trouble for the day.
Shoe welcome back! Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the interviews for the new gig.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify as I am to go about the public.
That’s what I thought, too, but it amounted to about $5/month. And the HHR is 5 years newer. Who knows…
Good morning! I’m awake! I took my melatonin at 7 and by 8, I was ready to drop. My bladder roused me around midnight, but the rest of the time I was dealing with bizarro dreams. Bottom line, I’m rested and I feel almost human! YAY!
I was messaging with my daughter yesterday. We suggested they sell one of their cars before moving, which they think is a good plan. Then when they get here, they can use those proceeds plus their other car as a trade in to get the minivan my SIL wants. (That boy ain’t right! He WANTS a minivan!!! ) But that means we’ll have to go there with 2 vehicles - I’m thinking we should use the truck to tow the HHR so we can ride together. Must investigate…
Not much on my desk today - I need to ask for more work. I’ve got a couple of things to occupy me to start - then people should start showing up to give me stuff. I hope.
It’s cold outside, 28 degrees.
I’m not happy about it, I want the warmer weather back.
I didn’t get enough sleep, the dog woke me at 6am by licking my toes.
Ripple is a licker. I prefer dogs who aren’t.
It doesn’t help that sometimes I get an itchy rash where he licks me. I know why it happens, I just don’t know why it only happens sometimes. https://healthfully.com/dogs-saliva-make-skin-itch-8686326.html
Nothing much to do today, just the usual irk, cooking, and cleaning.
Toosday is dog day, so his nails get clipped and ears get cleaned.
As I’ve aged I’ve experienced sleep disturbance, mostly being up before dawn. But reading your post made me realize I go to sleep easily but can’t stay asleep. When it first started I would wake up very early and immediately get angry! Of course you can’t get more sleep then!
Your post really helped me! I’ve tried the dozing you suggested and realized you’re correct, my perception of not going back to sleep isn’t entirely correct.
I’m also realizing I wake because I’m cold. Not shivering cold, just slightly chill, and often fetching another blanket and getting warmer puts me back to sleep. It’s a challenge though, as starting out with extra covers leads to night sweats, so it’s a fine balance. I’m still working at it, for sure.
But I think the info you shared has actually helped me a lot. So thanks a ton! I thought my disturbed sleep pattern was intractable, but now it seems I can improve it!
The sun is finally up and shining so I opened the blinds.
What a surprise to see snow in the yard.
Not much, and at least the sidewalks are clear, so no shoveling needed.
Saw a doctor yesterday. She said I probably have tendinitis, and to take a few days off clarinet playing.
I have rehearsal Wednesday (tomorrow.) I may ask the conductor if I can take that day off playing.
Kinda worried.
On the bright side, this morning I had time for real coffee instead of the instant swill.
Sunny, the book is part of a ‘prequel’ series I haven’t gotten into yet. The 'Last" Honor Harrington Novel is due out in November of this year. And I’ve read bits bits and pieces of the Weber/Ringo series, but just not my style.
Besides, I’ve got a 1200-page monster I working through right now (Churchill: Defender of the Realm 1940-1965) that I’m less than a quarter of the way through.
FCM, An HHR? That’s an old people’s car (wait, let me rephrase that…). And I, a life long bachelor, once owned a minivan, so I see nothing wrong with SIL looking for one.
Midget, take it easy on the hand. Mine is still sore in spots from falling down over a month ago (of course, you are much younger that I and probably heal faster, but don’t push it, OK?)
Sunshiny today, but still cool (42F at present). Need to do a little shopping later this morning and have a practice session with the 5-year old girls this afternoon.
**MetalMouse **- his preference for the HHR was that it cold haul parts and such more easily than the porsche and being smaller than the truck, it would be cheaper to operate. And he *is *old! At least, he looks old. Sheesh!
I’m not anti-minivan. My Aerostar was my favoritest vehicle ever! I put most of the 235K miles on it myself! It just struck me funny that a 30-y/o guy would want one. Then again, he’s in full daddy mode.
Speaking of the HHR - it failed the Maryland vehicle inspection. Seems the pad on the brake pedal was too worn. Not a brake pad that stops the car, but the rubber pad over the pedal inside the vehicle. I can’t roll my eyes far enough or hard enough! Our car guys will get the replacement part in tomorrow and then it can be registered. I’m all for vehicle safety, but seriously???
PS - it’s amazing what a good night of sleep can do for one’s attitude!
Much goin’ on today. Briskets have been purchased and stored in da fridge at the church house. There are signs on da fridge that say “Empty space is for food for Sattidy night. Do not put stuff there.” Wonder how long that space will stay empty. I now have the extra closet shelf, wallpaper is comin’ down and ceilin’s are bein’ painted. Plus I made a sallit for tonight. At some point I should start puttin’ stuff in the closet, I reckon. Fun times!
That’s very kind and generous of you Sunny, but it looks like the old beast has some life left in it yet. It started with just 10 or 12 pulls, which is good considering it has sat in the shed since last fall. It even had some old gas in it, which is a no-no. You may get some free soap for the offer though, but you’ll have to PM me your particular again. i’m old and forgetful. They’re in the computer somewhere, so your name should suffice.
I don’t remember much about the HHR Mom, but if it makes you happy, that’s a good thing.
I have a set of manuals for the IBM AS400 that will put a person to sleep in less than a page. I have no idea why I kept them.
Those signs are being used for coasters even as we [del]speak[/del] write.
Eating leftover jambalaya for [late] breakfast. Do I know how to live, or what?
Something that’s worked very well for me is that I try not to look at bright screens late at night. On my PC I run some software called f.lux which automatically makes the screen redder after sunset. Artificial blue light is particularly bad for suppressing melatonin production.
