Dealing with sleeplessness in the MMP

A yokel was running [del]to be a [/del] for local orifice. His # was in the phone book. I called late one night (from a caller ID blocked phone) & asked him to stop calling me; of course I wasn’t stoopit enough to give him my phone #. But I figgered if he could call when it disturbed me, then it was only fair for me to call when it would most disturb him. Right?

See. This is why nobody like you.

That sounds about right. It costs me $75 for a tune up at Midget Motors. I forget what a sharpening costs. I haven’t done either for a few years 'cause I can do it myself for about $25 in parts.

I hears you. It’s especially hard to get off if it was put on directly onto raw plasterboard, like some idjits did in our house.
Also, I’m surprised you aren’t painting that ceiling pink. It’s such a nice color. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Mumpers! Re: getting to sleep. I sometimes have trouble getting to sleep or getting back to sleep, and I have a trick that works well for me. I choose a book - must be fiction - and I try to cast the theoretical movie. This has the advantage that you do it in bed with your eyes closed, so you can fall asleep without additional prep (putting the book or game down, turning off the light.) I have fun with changing the rules - actors from all of time; let’s have Bela Lugosi star with Johnny Depp! Or actors currently working, just to make myself think more carefully. It gets me out of the worry spiral that keeps me awake & since I fall asleep along the way, I can’t usually remember what I’ve decided and can use the same book again. It’s a spin on self-hypnosis, but more entertaining

When I can’t sleep, I try and work out my vegetable planting plan for the year. On the plus side, I tend to fall asleep, on the negative, I still have no clue what I’m supposed to be planting after about July.

Today I have been mostly gettin’ confused by phones. A few weeks ago, I decided to finally give in, and buy a working smartphone with money I was given for my birthday last month. Asked for advice on what to get, decided… and a friend I’ve not seen in a decade messaged me, saying ‘Hey, if you want a phone, I’m upgrading mine, want my old one?’ so now I have a nice free phone. Slightly scratched but still shiny, pretty new and far nicer than the one I was planning to get. Said friend obviously takes his modern tech a lot more seriously than I do if this one’s outdated by his standards.

It’s complicated. It keeps making noises I don’t understand, and now I feel old and confused. I may have to get one of the Young People on my course to help me. That or I should just start shouting at clouds, I haven’t decided.

Got a message from my preggo daughter. Dr. said the baby’s in position. But she’s still got 4 weeks to go. So we’ll see if she squeezes it out early.

I’ve got a funky bruise on my right index finger, but I don’t recall whacking it or getting it pinched. Then again, we had to hook up the trailer, load, then unload the mower, and unhook the trailer - I suppose somewhere along that adventure, I may have hurt it.

Supper was good. **FCD **is back in his shop working on a program - he got a nice little job from one of my coworkers. It’s something I drew for the engineer! Nifty, huh?

Time for some chillage.

We made the executive decision not to go to the church house tonight. We’re both sniffly and sneezy. Not sick, just allergies and didn’t want to be out and about. Grilled cheese sammiches and mater soup were supped. We shall sleep with Ben tonight most definitely.

Nuts always go with shoutin’ at clouds. Way more fun. I’ve had my iPhone for a while now and there’s still stuff I don’t unnerstand. As long as I can do what I need and want to do with the dang thing I’m good. I turned off the personal hotspot as that can eat data as I understand. Besides, wifi is readily available most anywhere these days plus I do not feel the need to check in with the world at every place I go. Fascinatin’ as it may be, I do not need for everybody to know I am at Walgreen’s buyin’ foot powder.

And yet you share your caulk…

Swampy I’m glad the house is coming along nicely. Personal Hotspot just lets you allow another person to use your phone for wi-fi. It’s the same as when you go to a restaurant or some place and sign into their wifi hotspot. If you turn on your hotspot, your phone can do the same for other folks. They need to know your hotspot name and password (my hubby like to pick some amusing ones). No reason to turn it on ever, unless you feel inclined to host.

Moommm babies are well known for not following plans. So whatever you’re thinking will happen, that’s not what’s gonna happen. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nut lots of helpful videos on YouTube these days, if you don’t want to bother anyone else. Screaming at clouds is always good fun.

I’m on steroids now to try and help a particularly bad run of migraines. The next few days should be fun. Yes, that’s the word. Fun. I hate them, but they usually work. Last time I asked if I could just take them permanently. Drs are mean.

**Sunny **- yeah, babies are brats even before birth! Today, our Configuration Manager came by our office - she was due last Tuesday. It’s her first and he’s apparently taking is sweet time. I suggested she try jumping rope!

Finally made shrimp for dinner.
Ripple and I argued the entire time, as he is positive that you can eat shrimp raw.
Little did he know that I was eating shrimp for dinner, he was getting a hot dog mixed in his food.
As much as I love him I will not share my shrimp with him. Well, maybe one or two, but no more.

I don’t blame you Spidey.
I have to try to block all numbers except irk again.
That worked fine for a while but then irk started adding new numbers and I was blocking irk calls.

I have to order new reading glasses because somebody chewed up my next to last pair. I wasn’t so upset the first time as the glasses were old and I had sat on them once, and stepped on them once. They were a little beat up but comfortable. I’d only been using the second pair for a few weeks and he got them. He got them once but they were still usable, but he grabbed them off my desk today and ruined them. Now I’m on my last pair, and I’d better order some spares.
The brat goes for the weirdest stuff, and ignores the real bone.

I’m happy for you Swampy that you are happy with the way your place looks.
Fresh paint can do wonders for a room.

The only place I have wall paper is on the ceiling, I hope it lasts for a long time.
I’d love to get some painting done around here but I have no idea what color I want, so the walls can stay as they are for now.

When the HFH was dating the asshole two prior to the current one, he painted her walls dark grey below the chair rail and maroon above the chair rail. It was… different. He also tried to add texture to the ceiling but he created stalactites instead. Fortunately she had high ceilings, so nobody impaled themselves. He paneled the bathroom with cedar, the real wood, not paneling. Then he used wooden boards to cover the garage doors. It didn’t look that bad, they still worked, other than that they were so heavy nobody could lift them.

Nuts, you probably have notifications set to go off every time you get a text or an email. You have to go into settings, then notifications and turn off the ones you don’t want. Although the sequence of where you need to go may be different, I think some phones it’s settings, then sounds, then notifications. You should also be able to set the notifications to different sounds, so maybe a little bell for a text and a beep for an email. You may even be able to set different ring tones for different people, so you can tell by the ring who is calling/texting and you don’t have to look at the phone.
A nice phone is my one vice, I always say the next one is going to be just a plain old phone, but I always end up getting the latest. It was different when I was out all day irking, a high tech phone made my life easier and I could justify the expense. Now I’m just spoiled to having a nice phone. It has saved me time and money at times since I can use it receive, sign, and fax documents. It was a real time saver when I was buying the house, and also when my son had to sign documents for school. I can upload the document, pull out the stylus and sign it, and then emailor fax it back. I had to download a fax app, and it’s not free to fax, but still a lot easier and cheaper than running out to an office store to fax something.
You may very well end up loving your phone.

I tried to edit to add but for whatever reason it didn’t irk.
I hope the steroids work for you Sunny

That is so cool FCM, the project and the baby.
If Sah-son waits as long to have a kid as I did I will be very, very, old before I become a grandmother.

nut, I’m not sure about your location, but where I live, we can plant fall tomatoes around July.

I don’t have issues with the do not call thing. I only answer my phone for calls from my contact list. Anyone else can go straight to voicemail. If it’s important, I’ll call or text back. I prefer texts anyway.

One more day of irk, then another three day weekend. I’ll head back to my old town Friday for a haircut. The stylist that I like is down to part time. She recently divorced and has to have a full time job that provides bennies for her and her four kids. By the time I get home, Sis and BIL should be here. I’m thinking that going out for supper is going to be the way to go Friday evening, since they will be on the road at 0:dark30 Saturday morning and I have NaNoCon all day.

Supped upon cubed steak and rice and onion gravy and a mixed veg. Was good and I even cleaned up the mess. I hope I will be able to sleep tonight.

Tahred. Nite all.

Sounds like Princess BratCat. She has all sorts of toys of her own, but insists on going after my stuff, especially things like earbuds and wristwatches.

One of many reasons we didn’t buy the in-laws house was it was wallpapered.

Even the ceilings. :smack:

It seems that was a “thing” back in the 30s. Along with the faux oriental designs on a couple of the walls.

Worked, came home. it’s freakin’ cold and windy.

Yay bands!
Boo overwork!
I miss rosie, too. :frowning:

Awww. Feel better. And hope the hand heals quick.

My home network is “FBI Surveillance Van #4

I miss rosie too. :frowning:

Hubby picks network names like “infected by virus.32.exe”

Naw, no-one ever texts me. I mean, I have got notifications set up for texts, 'n emails, that make sense, but this phone keeps doing stuff like spontaneously making a panorama out of some of my photos then sending me a notification that it’s done it

If I wanted someone to randomly mess with my stuff then interrupt me to tell me about it, I would have had a child.

I’m sure I’ll like it once I’m used to it, but at the moment, everything’s updating and there’s a load of stuff that I have no idea what it is harassing me for permissions to get access to my contact list, read messages, look through my underwear drawer…

And that cloud is just a stupid shape shakes fist

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘‘Tis 31 Amurrkin out and clear, well dark, with a predicted high of <snerk>69! <snerk> for the day and N.O.S. High temps will be up in the mid 70s tomorrow and for the weekend. The livin’ and dinin’ rooms should get finished up today. YAY! I have a doc appointment at nine this mornin’. I shall be attacked by vampires. We shall sup upon burgers ‘n fries as I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’.

My text alert is an English horn. I feel as if I’m bein’ summoned to the manor whenever I get a text. When I get a call it’s the old time telephone bell. I turned off the email alert as I don’t care to be notified of emails.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I suppose I should purtify bein’ as I am to be about the public.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

This made me *literally *LOL - thanks!! :D:D:D

My phone has an old-time ringer for calls, and the default for texts, which I only seem to get from my pharmacy. I don’t get emails - I don’t think I can get emails anyway. My boss gets work emails on his phone - I’m sorry, but that’s just too much.

The way below average temps continue, but at least we’re not getting the snow that’s burying New England.

My sis messaged me last night and asked me to make the dyed deviled eggs for Easter, so I’m going to stop on the way home for some eggs. Older ones boil up better. And I’ve still got tons of food coloring, so I’m good to go there.

Onward into the day! Happy Thursday!
