Denver dopers... are the Rockies still "snow-capped" in April?

I was looking at taking a westbound cross-country Amtrak trip via the California Zephyr - just as one of those things to “say I did” - and it sounds like this is one of the greatest ways to just “see America”.

Apparently one of the best parts of the journey is through the Colorado Rockies, when they are covered in snow, etc. I wanted to plan the trip for mid-February, which to me would have been the prime part of the year. Unfortunately, due to work circumstances, it looks like April is the earliest time that I can pull this trip off.

Would the “scenery” be markedly different between February and April? If “seeing the snow-capped Rockies” was supposed to be the highlight of my trip, should I just reschedule? Is this better suited to IMHO? Uggh, so many questions as I start planning this out

Thanks for any input.

Plenty of snow in a typical April, and gorgeous year round.
Many peaks have some snow year round.

Absolutely. April is the second snowiest month even in Denver. In a normal year, the snow doesn’t start melting up high until May.

Do Eet, Gore, Glenwood and Horsethief canyons will be breathtaking.

April is probably close to peak snow time - pretty much all that fell during the winter is still there (okay, minus some that slid/avalanched down).
