Well, maybe. Reminds me of something that happened to me back in the day when I got chatting to this real hot cougar in a bar, and as things were heating up she said to me “Have you ever had sex with a mother and daughter? Want to try it?”. So we go back to her place - as who wouldn’t? - and she opens the door and yells upstairs “Mum! Are you still awake?”. :eek: :smack: 
He hasn’t pinged mine either, but that’s very likely because I start reading a post, realize it’s one of his and skip to the next one.

I think he’s an assett to the board. He posts in such an abrasive manner that it really catches your attention. Someone who’s new to the ideas of atheism, or perhaps disdain for corporate america will take notice. Some of the posters who are more rational, although correct, likely get glossed over more frequently.
In essence, I feel that he has the right intention, and provides counter-balance to a lot of what goes on in the real world, just at the opposite end of the spectrum.
Well, what do you know? The twerp’s been modded and is now on some kind of slow melt-down. Now, it’s not as sexy a melt-down as one in The BBQ Pit would be, but, hey, at least the lying little snot is finally being called on his stunts by TPTB.
Along similar lines, look what’s back. Has it been 30 days already? It was kind of nice, while it lasted…
No, he’s a detriment. Hate will chase everybody off. The only people that hate won’t turn off is the people that were leaning that way to begin with.
For an example, I offer myself. When I first joined the board, I had thought about religion, and settled on a “live and let live” agnosticism. Der Trihs made me want to go to Church in the same way that Phred Phelps makes me want to be best man in a gay wedding.
Der Trihs is full of hate. I will never respect that, no matter what political stripe it manifests as. You shouldn’t, either.

I’ve grown to just mentally ignore whenever Der Trihs talks politics or social issues. The reactions to him have taught me something about human nature, however. I’m not really happy about the realization.
Some people hate others, but they hide it until there’s a spearhead. Somebody says something hateful, and they come out saying “that should really make you think”, or “it catches your attention, so it’s good”. These people are just as hateful as he is in there own way.
The problem with that approach is the snot injects his tirades/diatribes/bigotry/prejudices/outright damn lies about such-and-such in threads where they aren’t even relevant. Seriously, it’s like having a discussion with a representative of the North Korean government:
Someone normal in a discussion about mathematics: Well, a+b is equal to b+a.
Representative of North Korean government: Damn Americans have caused the Sun to be absent from the sky for hours on end. They are evil incarnate and should all be killed!

That’s pretty much the same as Der Trihs’ schtick. I see no redeeming value in either of them.
Except that leads to spreading ignorance instead of fighting it. But I understand. It gets tiresome, and he never stops.
After a number of months’ almost daily logging onto SDMB, I have just realised that the guy’s posting-name “Der Trihs” is “Red Shirt”, with the two words spelt backwards. Durrr ! How slow can you get…?

With my small knowledge of German – “Der” is the definite article, masculine form; and “Trihs” might imaginably be some German word – feeble excuse, though: I deserve pitting.
There goes the neighborhood.
On the up side, it can’t be too long before he reduces his dead horse to a pulp and gets banned.
