Ok. Thanks, simster.
I can live with that.
Almost forgot - my wife watched this episode with me. Didn’t interrupt with too many questions, thank Og.
She did comment twice on Lila.
“That girl has the longest damn nipples I’ve ever seen!”
With 37 years of practice I said exactly the right thing in response.
“Didn’t notice”.
They would poke your eye out though if you weren’t careful.
Not to mention that after the bio-dad died, Dexter had Masuka match bio-dad’s and Dexter’s DNA.
I was just thinking, what if it’s Rita who winds up killing Lila, and then Dex covers for her by chopping up Lila and disposing of her, Bay Harbor Butcher-style? Would that be cool, or too Fatal Attraction? Would be an interesting way for him to come out to Rita. Maybe I’m just getting caught up in the idea of someone offing Lila. Rarely have I hated a character so much.
Deb and Lundy… what does he see in her? Sure, she’s got a fit bod, but her face is kinda scary and she’s a dipshit. He’s the Zen Master, but I guess even Zen Masters want an athletic screw once in a while eh?
How many relatively hot chicks can you hang out with at a murder scene?
I thought that leap was a little too quick. They could just as well have deduced “thriller novels fan” or “police procedural reader”, or “true crime reader”. Now, if they ever figure out the morgue was sabotaged, or the surveillance videoes messed with, THEN they’ll have a reasonably small number of suspects to sort through.
Just an aside here, but I thought it was pretty cool (My husband brought it to my attention) that Keith Carradine, who portrays Lundy, played a serial killer himself, in the tv mini-series, Chiefs, back in 1983.
Cite:
Heck, Carradine played a serial killer (also named Frank) just last season in Criminal Minds!
And really there isn’t much evidence he isn’t playing one now :p.
Though I wouldn’t really be pleased with such a plot device.
edited to add: But it would make Deb two for two. Think of the years of therapy :D.
the series finale is on beethoven’s birthday. 5 weeks away. they start shooting in may. hopefully the strike will be over then… the writers on this show are fantastic and deserve to get all the compensation they can get. esp. on dvd sales.
we need more writers that can come up with things like:
“deck the halls with parts of bodies…”
and
“who would do something like this; at this time of year?”
“the grinch.”
Can someone tell me why Doakes is looking for the file on Dexter’s mother’s murder? What clued him in? And why can’t the nice file lady just tell Doakes “Sorry, I looked, can’t find it”?
And did you notice that when Dexter went down, he hit his head on a desk? Which would explain any welt/bruise on Dexter’s head, if Doakes made an issue of it. I’m really hoping the scene was written that way!!
“I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister.”
Sometimes it takes a few minutes for a bump or a welt to show up, or so I’ve heard. But on Doakes’ bald head? Hit that hard? There should have been something noticeable.
Not enough time for the Dr. Danco arc…
Doakes broke into Dexter’s laboratory (heh) and listened to the tapes of Harry and Dexter’s mother. From what I understand from last season, the file records show file lady as the last person to have pulled the case file. She did it out of loyalty to Harry but now she’s scared about losing her retirement/pension.
As easily as Dexter played Doakes into attacking him in public, with no plan or forethought, I’ve got a sneaky suspicion…
Suppose Dexter will play Doakes into killing Lila? Maybe after Doakes somehow comes to the conclusion that Lila is the Bay Harbor Butcher?
Nahhh…
I did notice that, but it still wouldn’t have explained a knot on Doakes’ head. Still, I guess “telling” on Dexter head butting him isn’t very manly. It’s probably not something Doakes would even consider. Dude needs to get himself laid or something.
Thanks for that insight - I wasn’t sure how to read that but I think you’re right. Dex may be enjoying sex right now but I don’t think he’d think with the little head for too long.
I watched the repeat last night because they give long trailers for the next episode and somebody is getting the Dexter treatment while Dex calmly says, “You will see the monster.” Sounds like maybe Lila since she doesn’t play well with others. Maybe she sees Rita as a Very Big Threat.
The Butcher tag is going to be pinned on Doakes, and Dexter is going to help that along. And frankly, Doakes deserves it. He’s like a tyrannical ruler riding your back while breathing right down your neck. Of course, the plot won’t leave him outcast forever. He’ll use contacts while in prison to try to get back at Dex.
Dexter killing Lila would add a different dynamic to the show, and to Dexter’s personality. She’s helped him. They’ve slept together.
I can see him killing Lila to keep her from hurting Rita or the kids, or to punish her if she hurts them, but I can’t see him enjoying it.
